Chapter 25

Shaking my head I continued my way to the dining hall, fully intent on getting some food. There is no way they would make it to us, but if they did at least I'd have someone to aim my anger towards. I tried unsuccessfully to keep my distance from the guys, not wanting my anger to explode and them get in the way.  I honestly don't even know why I am so angry. Ya, the guys burst into my room, but they were only worried. And yes, my body is permanently marked because of some Fae bond, but that is still not enough to piss me off the way I am. And being hungry has never made me act like this, so what was it?  As the sirens continued to wail I had stopped walking, thinking and trying to figure out what has me acting like this. Could it be the intruders? Could they be influencing me somehow? When the Rebellion first attacked I don't remember being influenced in any way. Ya, I got angry when I figured out what they were going to do with Elana, and after what happened with Samuel I had went off. Fear had consumed me then, fear of losing someone I cared for deeply.  Wait? Could this be a warning? Could I develop a sixth sense of when the people I love are in danger? In one quick motion I had my phone out and was dialing Elana, everyone else was here with me. When the line connected Elana didn't answer, but I did hear the shuffling of feet and heavy breathing. Then Elana screamed such a high pitched scream I flinched away from the phone. Then there was a heavy thud. "Anna! Anna help I'm in my room. Someone is here. I threw him against the wall like you've shown me but he keeps coming back." Then the line died.  The heat of anger in my veins rose as everything was suddenly tinged in a haze of black. I turned back to the guys who had been watching me the whole time. When they saw my eyes their jaws dropped. "I'm going to save Elana." I stated flatly, then turned and opened a portal to her room.  I didn't even care to look and see if the portal had stayed open for the guys, I just jumped in and attacked the first person I saw. Swinging my arm harshly to the side I threw whoever it was that had their hands around Elana's throat so hard he flew through the wall and landed in a crumpled heap on the floor. Zeroing in on the others I laughed. All four of them had their magic surging in the palm of their hand and pointed towards me. The thing is though, their magic bounced off of me and returned their attack ten fold.  "Tsk, tsk, tsk." I said mockingly. "You should know better than playing with someone out of your league." Balling both my hands into tight fists they all seized up, gasping and clawing at their chest. "Who else came with you?" I demanded. One of the men laughed harshly. "Like we'd tell you." He rasped. "Well, if you don't want to die you'll tell me." I said tightening my hold on them. They all cried out in pain as their binds tightened. "Hmm. Maybe I should give you an example."  So without another word I took the binds on one and tightened it to its limit. The man cried out in pain as his body was squeezed and contorted until there was nothing left of him but a pile of bones. I had completely stopped all bodily functions, drying out all water or blood within his body turning him into nothing but a husk of a man. "Now." I said wiping my hand on my pants. "We will try this again. Who else, and how many came with you?"  Loosening the binds so they could speak they began gasping and gulping all the air I could. "How are you so powerful?" a man managed to ask through gasps of air. "That does not concern you. I asked you a question." I demanded. The men looked between each other before sighing. "Other than the five, well now three of us twenty more came." My eyes widened. "Where are they?" I seethed. As I looked around frantically for my men who weren't there.  My heart rate picked up and my breathing became heavy. Where were my mates. "All over." A man replied to my earlier question. Swinging my arm in an arch I pinned them to the wall. "You better pray all of my mates are ok. You're lives depend on it." Turning to Elana who was trembling and crying I sighed. "Elana remember. Your magic is fueled by emotion, if you break down so does your magic. In the state you're in now your magic won't respond. Try and get a hold of yourself, I'm leaving them with you. The binds will stay unless something happens to me."  Elana nodded as she dried her tears and squared her shoulders. "I've got this. Go save the school." The smile that crossed my face could have froze water. "Oh, I plan to." I said and took off out the door. Using my connection to the guys I followed it. I could feel their determination, their fear, worry, concern and anger. I could feel Alex was becoming tired, Axel was close to shifting and burning down the school, Samuel trying to weaken the enemy using their emotions against them. Then there was Ashe, my connection to him much stronger than the others. He was fighting multiple opponents and trying to help the others, his magic was wearing down and he was becoming weak.  I picked up speed and raced across the grounds freezing and throwing anyone who was not a student not caring if they were killed or not. When I cam across my mates, the scene made my blood boil. All of them were weakening. Out of all the people who came, at least fifteen of them were here. My mates were covered in burns, blood and some oozing kind of black sludge.  My fury caused blue flames to leap from my body covering both of my arms. Lifting a hand I threw a fireball into the  chest of one of the men fighting Ashe. Immediately upon impact the man burst into ash. Ha, well that works, I thought to myself. Continuing to fight my way towards Ashe, I finally reached him and pulled him protectively into my arms.  Feeling the energy of all my mates draining I lifted my hand. With a roaring battle cry a golden light just like the tattoo burst from my hand. It engulfed us in its stunning brilliance, and as I looked around everyone including my Samuel, Axel and Alex had their eyes covered. Only Ashe and I could see within it. And right before our eyes, the light disintegrated all our enemies. Nothing was left behind to prove they'd been there.  By the time the light had finished off the last of the enemy, it retreated back to where it cam from, leaving me completely drained of every drop of magic and energy I had. Black spots filled my vision and I felt myself falling. This time I didn't feel arms catch me, I just fell, further and further into a darkness unlike any other.
