"Don't play games, Rose. Let me see Kenzie." it was clear when the man suppressed his emotion.
"I'm not kidding, doctor Robert Miller. Since when did you leave your child with me? Do I look like I own a daycare business." Rose's soft scornful laughter made Robert even more furious.
The man suppressed his emotions in such a way when he saw another customer come in. Robert stepped to the side of the cashier as if to choose a snack there.
"Rose! I just wanted to meet Kenzie, your nephew." whispered Robert slowly.
"Ooo my sister's Ruby child? He is sleep, sir. Look, it's nine o'clock at night. What are you looking for him for ?" Rose deliberately spoke loudly,
"Who is she, Rose?" asked a middle-aged woman who was already a regular customer.
"I don't know." Rose shrugged her shoulders as she counted the customer's groceries.
"Be careful nowadays, there are many cases of child a*******n. Their motives also vary."
"Is that true?" Rose lowered her voice with a glance at Robert. "Do you think it's like that man?"
The middle-aged woman who seemed to really like gossip, glanced at the direction Rose was pointing at. She watched Robert's movements from the side carefully. Her brows knit together as if she was trying to weigh hard on what was on his mind.
"The most dangerous man like that. Don't be fooled by his handsome face, he could be the real mastermind of the kidnapping."
"Hey, scary." Rose deliberately raised her voice and pretended to be scared.
"Yes. You should take good care of Kenzie."
"Mrs. Tan, what should I do?" Rose bent her face as if she was confused.
"Don't worry I will help you." Mrs. Tan walked up to Robert in a cocky manner.
"Hi, Sir. What did you choose, why have you been standing here all this time?" Mrs. Tan bent her face to see Robert's face, which was bowed under the hat.
Robert, who had clearly heard the woman's conversation with Rose, became very annoyed, especially when the chatty old woman approached him with a probing gaze.
Robert snorted in annoyance and took some chocolates for him to buy. Without answering the old woman's question, Robert immediately placed the chocolate on the cash register and took out a fifty dollar bill.
"Five dollars in total, Sir." said Rose as she put the chocolate into a paper bag.
"Keep the change." Robert grabbed the paper bag and left quickly.
Rose smiled triumphantly at the handsome doctor's back walking away. He was finally able to drive the man away without resorting to violence. Rose felt a little relieved without Robert's presence.
"Suspicious man, watch out for him, Rose. How could he leave fifty dollars without getting his change." Mrs. Tan looked enviously at the fifty dollar bill still in Rose's hand. "You have to be careful, Rose, he could come back and accuse you of taking the money."
"Of course, Mrs. Tan. How about I give these fifty dollars to you. If he comes back, I'll say the money has been donated to someone else, how about it?"
It didn't take long for the fifty dollars to change hands. Mrs. Tan looked at the fifty dollar bill with sparkling eyes. "Thanks, Rose. If there's anything, call me right away, you still have my number, right?"
Rose nodded her approval. Mrs. Tan with a big smile came out of the mini market, all the way she smiled cheerfully because she got the jackpot today, the ten dollars spent has become fifty dollars in her hand.
After Mrs. Tan's departure, Rose immediately turned off the light at the front to indicate that the mini market was closed. The girl then came out from inside the cash register to the entrance to lock it.
However, just as Rose's hand touched the doorknob, suddenly, out of nowhere, Robert appeared. The man pushed open the door which she was trying her best to keep closed.
"Go away, Robert!"
"Let me in, Rose!" Robert increased his strength so that Rose stumbled backwards into the food rack.
"Get out!" Rose snapped angrily.
"I just wanted to see Kenzie," said Robert firmly.
The man looked around looking for a way to the top of the shop. Rose who realized the danger immediately ran quickly to block Robert's steps. The woman fearlessly pushed the man's large body with her two small hands.
"Get out now or I'll scream!" threatened Rose.
"Try it if you dare!" challenged Robert back.
"You think I'm scared, you lecherous doctor?" Rose glared at Robert. "We'll see how they react, if they find out that a famous doctor on television has committed a crime by robbing a small mini market!"
Rose didn't seem the least bit afraid of dealing with Robert, because what she was most afraid of was losing Kenzie. Rose is not willing if the child that Robert never wanted, suddenly was about to be taken by this man.
"You! You sneaky fox!" snorted Robert in annoyance.
"You wolf in sheep's clothing!"
Robert smirked at how Rose was trying so hard to push herself out of there, if she wanted to just hit the woman she would fall to the ground. However, Robert chose to play around by letting Rose's hand muscles tighten from struggling so hard.
"Your strength is strong as well as a sly fox!"
"You should hear my power too if you scream." Rose smirked slyly.
The girl realized that she would not be able to face Robert's physical strength, so Rose ran towards the exit and shouted loudly.
"HELP! THERE'S A ROAD!"
Robert was astonished by what the woman had done. He really didn't think that Rose's threat wasn't just a figment. Fiercely, Robert walked over to Rose and grabbed her by the shoulders.
"Remember Rose, this won't be the last. You're going to suffer the consequences of playing with me!"
"I'm not afraid of you lecherous doctor, cunning human!" Rose slapped Robert's hand roughly.
The girl opened the door wide while preparing to scream again, "PLEASE…."
Rose laughed happily when she saw Robert quickly come out. The threat worked. The man walked across the street and glared at him from a distance.
"Bye-Bye!" Rose waved her hand while sticking out her tongue.
It's been forty days since Ruby left this mortal world. During that time, Robert never bothered Rose and her family. The man did not show the bridge of his nose even though his shadow never appeared.
Rose felt reassured because it meant that Robert Miller had completely forgotten about Kenzie. The beautiful girl smiled sarcastically every time she remembered how Robert's attitude seemed to want Kenzie. However, in the end it was all just a mask to seek sympathy.
Rose was increasingly convinced that the man would never show the bridge of his nose. A man with a success where he became a role model in every television show and talk show, it is impossible to let his career be ruined just because of the child in the past. The child he never wanted before.
"You're worried about asking ....." The host on a television station for a health program asked aloud the studio audience.
"Doctor Robert Miller!" Shouts filled the studio, which was channeled live to the audience at home.
Rose snorted in annoyance when she saw Robert come out with a big innocent smile on his handsome face. Immediately reached for the remote control to switch television channels. Even though only through the screen, Rose was reluctant to see Robert's face let alone hear his voice.
"Why did you switch channels, Rose?" Romeo, her father was annoyed. "You know Daddy really likes this show."
Rose snorted, she was forced to obey her father's wishes. Robert's face immediately filled the screen when the television channel had just been moved by Rose. The smile that was glime closely seemed to mock the woman.
"You see it's Rose! He's still young… he's about thirty years old, but very smart and an idol everywhere." Romeo looked at the screen with admiration.
Rose didn't want to be involved in conversation with Robert as the main topic. She chose to step aside and tidy up the contents of her mini market. It's all because of her hard work that the minimarket is also able to grow.
"Rose! I want Kenzie someday to be like him." Romeo shouted in admiration.
"Don't push Kenzie, Dad! He can be anything he wants to be." Rose doesn't like it when Romeo exalts Robert too much.
"But Kenzie said he wanted to be a doctor someday." Romeo is still adamant.
"Ooo Daddy, if you only knew that the doctor you admire the most is a man who doesn't want Kenzie to be born in this world. That doctor is a man who has hurt your child's heart, my sister Ruby's heart," Rose thought with a broken heart.
Rose will never forget how every time Ruby cried and had to bear the burden of her own pregnancy. Ruby had to endure insults and even scornful glances, so they were forced to move out of their old apartment.
In fact, Rose regretted Ruby's choice. Ruby should have kept Conrad instead of choosing Robert, a petty playboy, an irresponsible man. Maybe Ruby wouldn't have died so soon, if she could have lived happily with Conrad, the lover she betrayed.
However, the rice has become porridge, the past cannot be repeated. Currently Conrad is happy with Jasmine and their son Sean. Remembering that, Rose became sad to think about Kenzie who had lost Ruby.
"Oh, Kenzie!" Rose gasped when she realized it was time for her to pick up the boy,
"Dad! I'm going to get Kenzie, you'll be alright, won't you?" Rose rushed to the counter to get her bicycle keys.
"Don't worry, Sis Rose. Let me take care of Mr. Romeo," said Dulce with a cheerful smile.
Dulce is an immigrant from Mexico who is helped by Rose. The woman works to help take care of the family's needs and also looks after the mini market. Dulce is a kind and diligent woman.
"Thank you, Dulce." Rose then kissed the forehead of her father who couldn't take his eyes off the admiring doctor, Robert Miller.
The woman who looked younger than her twenty-six years old, unlocked the lock on the wheel and pedaled her bicycle to Kenzie's school which was half a mile away.
The wind blew against her beautiful face which was red with sweat. Rose arrived just as the school bell was ringing. Immediately the woman hooked her bicycle in the parking lot and half ran towards the school gates.
"Kenzie!" cried Rose when she saw Kenzie's tiny face come out of the gate.
"Aunt Rose!" Kenzie walked quickly to Rose who had opened her arms wide.
"How was your school today, Honey?" Rose picked up her beloved nephew and pulled a wheeled bag into the bicycle parking lot.
"Today, Kenzie is drawing about landscapes." The boy got off Rose's arms and sat on the back of the bicycle.
"Oh yeah? Nice picture?" Rose started pedaling after placing Kenzie's bag in the front basket. "Hold it okay."
"Yeah. Kenzie got an A." along the way the boy continued to chatter cheerfully, comforting Rose's heart.
A few minutes later they arrived in front of the mini market. Kenzie immediately got off and walked in. Full of joy she ran to hug Romeo.
"Hello Grandpa."
"This prospective family doctor has arrived. Grandpa is very pleased." Romeo laughed happily at Kenzie's arrival, they chattered merrily up the stairs to the top floor, where the whole family lived.
"Sis Rose, we got a meal voucher from a restaurant in the city center." Dulce gives a Voucher to Rose. "Are we going to eat there tonight?" Dulce's eyes sparkled with hope.
"Where did you get this Voucher from?" Rose was very surprised to get an invitation to a free buffet meal for four people.
"From a kind customer." Dulce looked at Rose expectantly.
Unable to bear to disappoint her, Rose nodded her head.
"Thank you, Rose." Dulce happily embraced the master who was actually much younger than herself. "I'm going to put Kenzie to bed a bit so he won't be fussy tonight.'
Rose smiled at Dulce's nimble movement up the stairs.
"There's nothing wrong with pleasing them once in a while. It's free anyway." murmured Rose slowly.
Time passed quickly, the sun's rays that were about to move to the other hemisphere began to dim. The twilight atmosphere looks so beautiful with the orange light that is greeted by the dim city lights.
Rose and her family are currently at a Chinese restaurant and enjoying a buffet. They rejoice greatly with food that is abundant and luxurious more than what they usually eat everyday.
"Kenzie wants ice cream." The boy ran towards the ice cream machine. He was very happy because he could take the cold dish to his heart's content.
"Daddy, why are you crying?" Rose reached out her hand to wipe the tears that welled up in Romeo's eyes.
"Daddy misses Ruby. We hardly ever ate together like this when she was alive." regret Romeo.
"Rose misses Ruby too, Dad." The girl struggled to hold back the tears that were about to well up.
He inhaled and exhaled slowly. Rose immediately stood up and smiled at her father.
"Dad, want me to get you something else? While it's still free."
"I'm quite full, how about fruit?"
"Wait here, Dad." Rose walked over to the buffet table.
Unbeknownst to them, a pair of eyes hidden behind sunglasses watched every move Rose and her family made. The man took out his cell phone to call someone.
"Do it immediately, the woman and her family are already at the stop location … yes the boy is also here. Do it immediately and make sure the fire department rushes to the scene of the incident. Boss doesn't want any casualties."
