PART THREE, THREE

1600 Words

Something pushed me awake with a start. Where was I? The misty figures had vanished and so had the railway tracks. I turned my head here and there. Someone’s arm lay on my body. That is what touched me and woke me up. My eyes fell on the window. Oh yes, I was in my bed. But who was this lady next to me? I distinctly remembered walking hand in hand with a lady in a pair of jeans. We had met at one of the paths around the lake. And there were others there too. We had begun walking with the railway tracks next to us. That lady was not Anais, but she sported bouncy brown hair. Well, was she Damasque then? And that young man? Was it really me? I mean the man who lay at the four crossing? The one from whose throat blood was oozing out, whose shadow got up? A cold chill ran down my spine.
