Chapter - 1
"Yes, I'll be fine", I sighed. Dad and Abbie, my stepmom of four years were pestering me about my decision to come back to Dalton Preparatory High School without regard to the fact that we were already in the school premises and in front of my dorm.
"I still don't understand why you've got this silly costume on", dad insisted.
I didn't answer. If I did, I'd be on a one way plane back home.
"And you are sure you won't get any of those panic attacks?", Abbie asked worriedly.
"Yes I'm sure. Look, why don't you guys go on and I'll call you when I'm settled. Love you. Bye!", I rushed away and hurried into the room to avoid further embarrassment after I saw dad glaring at a boy he thought stared at me a beat too long.
"We love you too. Stay out of trouble. Bye.", I heard from behind the door I had shut after me.
I had wanted to reassure them further but I didn't want anyone to see me before my big entrance. They had already heard about me as it is. The new girl.
I took a deep breath in and started to scrutinize the room.
There was a main bathroom, a kitchenette and a cozy living room, from what I could see.
I sighed and quickly rummaged through the pile of suitcases our driver had brought up earlier and pulled out an inconspicuous black case that I had hidden until the last moment, to keep it away from Abbie's prying eyes.
That bedroom had better have a walk in closet, to make all the begging I had to do to get a room in the most expensive hostel worth it.
My dad is a multimillionaire shipping magnate who acts like all he has left are a few dollars. I used to not mind his frugality and even indulged in it but.... desperate times call for desperate measures, and trust me, I'm desperate.
Desperate for revenge.
Look, now I sound like a manic killer.
I walked into the room while removing from the case, a medium sized makeup box which Abbie had been more than overjoyed to teach me to utilize, and stopped short in awe of the huge room.
You've got to admit,Dalton high is really beautiful. It's the students that are the vile snakes.
I spotted a white door with intricate gold designs, similar to the other doors in the dorm and walked towards it. I opened it to see a beautiful ensuite bathroom.
After a few minutes of checking out the bathroom and wandering about, I found the walk-in closet and set the makeup box on the dresser table.
I removed two custom-made vinyl dumbbells that I usually prefer over the treadmill I saw my dad had had installed in the living room.
I reached into the case tentatively to take out a piece of paper.
The piece de resistance.
The pillar that still holds my life together.
The important thing I needed decoys for.
My hand grasped it to take it out when the doorbell rang.
My head turned in that direction so fast, I almost got whiplash. I closed the case, stashed it in an empty closet and dashed to the door.
And there she stood. Third on the royals' ranking list and second in command to the head b***h.
Rylie George.
One of the few people I never wanted to see again, at least not so soon. A girl so evil, people were certain she was related to Regina George from 'Mean Girls'.
"Hey there, what can I do for you",I asked in a pleasant tone, with a smile on my face so wide and fake, I almost felt my face c***k.
She took her dear time while scanning my appearance - probably to see if I was a potential follower. She inspected me - from the blond wig I had on which covered the fact that I'm a hardcore brunette, to my blue eyed colured contact covered brown eyes, pointed nose, curved lips which hid straight white teeth and Neiman Marcus hoop earrings on a heart shaped face, down to the printed radzimir Prada dress which covered the slim figure I'd worked close to a year for and Jimmy Choo sneaker clad feet.
She nodded in approval before fixing on a fake smile which matched mine.
"We're having a get together in dorm seven upstairs, and you are invited. It's at eight and no plus ones, it's exclusive.", she exclaimed in a fake enthusiastic tone.
She obviously didn't want me there, but as was characteristic of a devoted henchman, she did as she was told.
I almost declined when I realized that this could be it. My big entrance. And if this party is as exclusive as their making it out to be, all the royals will be there, and what better way to start a revenge.
"Sure I'll be there",I smiled. This time, for real.
She winked and turned and sashayed away while I watched - for two reasons.
One, as much as I hated her walk, I would need to copy it, in order to fit in with the royals. Even if it's the lesser ones. And if I'm lucky, this personal invitation meant I may have a spot in the main royals.
Two, if the way she looked shocked when she turned after a while was anything to go by, she was also sent to snoop.
I stayed there for two minutes after she had turned the corner to be sure, before sighing and returning to the room.
I looked at the clock on the wall and immediately jumped into action. I had only five hours to nine.
Like hell I'm going at eight, a grand entrance while being fashionably late is everything.
I took a shower and went through the makeup routine Abby had written down in my diary for me. There was no way I could remember those twenty one steps.
After much deliberation, I decided to go casual in a way that seemed like I wasn't trying at all but didn't look too poor or unfashionable to dress up.
Until this revenge plan, I never knew I had such a great sense of fashion. Looks like I'm still finding more pros to this whole thing.
By the time I picked out an oversized white branded Dolce and Gabbana sweatshirt and a pair of Eleanor Botta knee high Louboutin boots and got dressed, it was already nine.
I locked up and placed my phone in a Prada mini monochrome leather wallet on a chain.
I made my way upstairs to dorm seven. This hostel has ten luxury dorms with royals, both upper and lower occupying them. I got lucky when one of the lowers moved away to Dubai.
How convenient. For both of us at least.
I finally located my destination.
The dorm room of Lucas Von Muller. The only son of a very wealthy Germonitian noble.
Fifth in ranking among the royals and a total goofball.
It's not a wonder the party was being held here though.
I took a deep breath and knocked before I could chicken out. I Inserted in place, the blank face I'd practiced in front of the mirror many times, until it was perfected, which I planned to keep for the entirety of the night.
Here goes nothing, I thought as the door swung open.
