As the sun belts through my curtains, the thought of Grey lingers in my mind. I can't wait to see him again. I get up and start getting ready for school. As I rush around the house, there was a sudden knock on the front door. This person was clearly impatient. They did not stop knocking until I opened the door.
"Aria! Man, you are impatient today!" I chuckle.
"Haha, yeah sorry about that." She says as she rushes to the fridge. She starts pulling out random foods until she finally finds what she wants, an up-and-go.
"I'm pretty sure that's like 4 months old..." I say to Aria. She doesn't seem to care.
"We ran out at home!" She sighs as if it was the end of the world. "Wanna ride while I'm here?" She asks.
"I thought you'd never ask." I laugh.
The whole ride to school she was talking about how we had PE and that we would be doing the self-defense class again. The butterflies grew stronger in my stomach at the thought of being partners with Grey again.
As we arrived at the front of school, the buses were unloading. Grey was standing by the side of the school with Juliet swarming around him. Shay growled in jealousy at the sight. I felt sick to my stomach as she put her hand on his arm. I had to control myself - running over and scratching her eyes out would not be inconspicuous.
His eyes met mine and he greeted me with a wink. I felt myself blush.
"Oooohhh! Grey is here!" Aria teased. She didn't know the half of it.
We walked together to our first class. I had chemistry and Aria had maths. I tried to hide the giddy feeling in my stomach when I remembered today Grey and I were working as chem partners.
"See you at lunch" Aria called as she walked into her class.
"See you then!" I replied and kept walking.
Grey was already sitting at our table when I walked in. He smiled when he saw me walk in.
"Good morning." He said when I put my stuff on the table.
"Morning." I replied, pulling out my chair and sitting down. It was taking all my self control not to wrap my arms around him.
We were making small talk when Juliet shoved herself between us, nearly pushing me off of my chair. I could see the fury in Grey's eyes.
"Grey!" Her whiny voice sighed. "I am so upset we are not chem partners!"
I cleared my throat, indicating for her to move. She didn't. I reached around her and grabbed my pen with a groan. She just rolled her eyes to Grey.
"We need to get started, Juliet." Grey says to her while turning to his book.
"I can't believe you are stuck with the mutt... Poor Grey!" Juliet continued, not picking up what either of us were putting down.
"Juliet?" Mr Williams interrupted. "I think you need to take your seat." He said sternly.
Juliet huffed and stormed off to her seat.
"So, today you must collaborate with your partners to complete your chemistry assessment. I expect you to record all of your results and experience details. Dont forget to include the variables in each test. I will be here for assistance if you need, but make sure you have a go first." Mr Williams reminded us and set us to work.
The whole lesson was tension. It felt like a zing of electricity in the air around us. We deliberately let our hands touch to feel the heat and fireworks. Temporary relief from the tension. I was relieved when the lesson ended. It was taking every bit of self control and Juliet was keeping a close eye on us the whole time.
Aria and I spent lunch together as usual. We swapped half of our sandwiches and chatted about how much we were ready for the holidays.
The bell rang.
"Self-defense!!" Aria squealed excitedly. I had to admire Aria's dedication to PE this term. Any opportunity to admire the guy wolves at our school.
We walked to the crowd already forming in the center of the oval. It wasn't as separated this week - the line between the Goilath and Red Woods pack students was a little blurry as students began talking to each other.
"Here we go!" I heard one of the girls whisper to her friend as I walk up. I was confused. What was she talking about?
The group started staring and whispering as I approached. I felt my hands begin to sweat with nervousness. Shay was just as confused as me.
"Welcome back everyone!" Miss Harbourn greets us all, "You're here Willow!" She says as she sees me through the crowd. "I was wondering if I could use you for my demonstration again today?" I had to stop my heart from beating out of my chest. I was so excited about being partnered with Grey again and being able to touch him without it being weird. I walked forward towards Miss Harbourn.
"I have had another volunteer today, which is perfect!" Miss Harbourn says excitedly, "Juliet?" She calls. Juliet walks through the crowd with a sickening smile on her face. Great. The perfect opportunity for her to be allowed to beat the s**t out of me. What a fun afternoon this is turning out to be.
Miss Harbourn gave us our instructions and told us to begin.
Juliet almost ran forward to wrap her arms around my neck. I remember Miss Harbourns instructions and push her arm with the palm of my hand. Juliet runs off course and stumbles. I steady myself before Juliet runs at me again. Her fist crunches against the side of my shoulder. I cry out at the contact. I see Grey's face change to concern.
I stop Juliet's other arm from making contact with my face and grab it. I twist the arm around so that her back is against my front. I hold her tightly so that she cannot fight back then push her down to the floor. I hear a c***k as her head hits the floor. It is hard not to feel some satisfaction in knocking her down.
When Juliet stands, she has blood running down her cheek from where her eyebrow made contact with the ground.
"Alright - well done Willow. You successfully stopped your attacker. Can someone please take Juliet to get cleaned up?" Miss Harbourn asked. The best part of having a whole wolf class is the teachers can allow some contact considering our fast healing and strength.
I receive congratulations as I walk back to the crowd. Some people are even whispering to each other.
"Who knew she could fight?" Someone behind me whispered. I felt pride well within me.
"Please find the same partner you had last week and begin your sparring." Miss Harbourn calls out.
I spot Grey walking towards me with a huge smile on his face.
"Didn't know you had it in you!" He laughed.
"You better watch out now!" I giggle.
"Shall we?" Grey held his arm out for me. I smile in response.
