Chapter 6 - My Romeo?

1668 Words
Juliet’s P.O.V. It’s been a month since I have been here, and I got to admit I kind of like it, but I still miss my home. During my time here so far, I have made some awesome friends, and we had all gotten closer. But I became closer to Preston most of all. While getting to know him; I finally admitted to myself I got a crush on him, but I don’t think he feels the same way. Somewhere deep inside me, I still have hope, a little flicker of light that maybe he likes me too. “Good Morning, beautiful,” Preston said, yeah he calls me that too and it does nothing to calm my heart when he is around. “Morning,” I stuttered as I feel my cheek burn. And yeah, I stuttered when I’m nervous or around him or even when he calls me beautiful. It all started that day when he comforted me about being homesick. Patricia told me that he was freaking out when he saw me crying keep asking what to do? To which Josh slaps him at the back of his head and told him to hug me. He came and sat beside me and didn’t say anything or ask any question but only wraps his tonearm around me, embracing me while I cry on his shoulder. I was so embarrassed, and I apologized profoundly for getting his clothes wet. “I’m sorry I got your shirt wet,” I chuckled, wiping my tear-stained face. Smiling at me, he wipes the rest of my tears and said, “I’ll always be your shoulder to cry on if you ever need to cry,“ I shake my head with a smile as I recall the memory. Focusing on the present, I watch him with curious eyes as he scratched the back of his head while his eyes darted around but not looking at me when he said, “I have been meaning to ask you something,“ And for some reason, my heartbeat loud and my palms turn sweaty. I nodded my head slowly for him to continue, clutching my books tighter to me. He opens his mouth to speak but was cut off by a loud shriek. “Preston,” I stood here heartbroken as I looked at the girl who was now hugging him. When he realized who was hugging him, his lips spread into a wide grin as his eyes lighted up and he turned around, lifted her, and spin her around. And at that moment, I wanted nothing more than to disappear and return home. One thing for sure is that she is truly beautiful. She has the same height as him but short jet black hair with pale skin. She looks as though she stepped out of a magazine and another thing I was sure about is that I was jealous of her, especially the fact that she knew Preston. I stood there awkwardly while they talked and he told her how happy he is now that she is back. Standing here, I got to know she was on a one-month vacation with her family. And right now, I wish she would have stayed longer. Don’t be the jealous girl, my mind said. Maybe I should leave. At that thought, I turned around and walked away, bumping into someone. “Sorry,” I said, bending down to pick up the content that fell on the ground. He’s cute, I thought as I look up and handed him his books. “Don’t be, because I’m not,” he said, smirking while I stood still, gazing at him. If I didn’t know any better, I would say that the girl who was hugging Preston was his sister. They have a striking resemblance. “I have never seen you before,” he said as he took in my appearance from head to toe. With his hands stretched out in a greeting manner, he smiles and spoke, “My name is Jess. And you are?“ “Juliet,” I said, and my hands met him as he gave a gentle squeeze, shaking hands while he continues to grin at me. He chuckled, “If I had known your name was Juliet, I would have said my name was Romeo,“ Okay, everyone in this timeline needs to stop saying things that. I get it, my name is Juliet and I need a Romeo, but seriously. Next time someone says that they will get a knuckle sandwich! “Sorry, but she already has one Jess,” Preston said appearing next to me along with her, but this time she stood next to Jess. Smiling, she gave a little wave with her hands and introduce herself, “My name is Jessica and this flirt is my twin brother,” Flirt, huh? He reminds me of one of my brother’s Mario. He would flirt with anything he saw, and he was married, but that didn’t stop him. But luckily his wife always keeps him in check but one thing for sure is, he will never cheat on her because he loved her too much. Grinning back at her, I nodded my head and spoke, “Juliet,” Wait! Did Preston just… Did he just indirectly call himself my Romeo? My Romeo? suddenly that couldn’t stop echoing in my mind. Does that mean he likes me? But it’s been a month, and he still hasn’t made a move. After all, those failed attempts of trying to find a way back, I decided to stay and spend time with my family and friend and especially him. I bit my lips softly to pretend myself from smiling like an i***t. I think he likes me back. I wonder if he was going to… “Juliet, Let’s get to class. The bell has already rung,” I was pulled back from my thoughts to find him walking ahead as he called for me. I nodded my head and catch up to him. “Let’s go,” he smiled at me as I nodded while we both fall into step. *** “So, how was vacation? I mean, you guys were gone over a month. I thought you weren’t coming back,” Patricia asked Jessica. “It was great, a lot of hot guys,” she glanced at Preston quickly when she said that, but he is busing focusing on the food in front of him. “Our parents were planning to move there,” Jess butted in. Jessica grumbled, “Thank God, they didn’t,” she picked up her food and looked at it in disgust, before letting it dropped back in as she scrunched up her nose. Guess she doesn’t like Tapioca pudding too! “Guys,” Patricia said, getting everyone’s attention, “Anyone’s up for the yearly trip?” Everyone agreed and was excited. I mumbled. “Yearly trip?” “Yeah, it is something we do every year as a g**g. It is fun and I am sure you will like it,” Immediately they began planing and set the date for Saturday which was two days away. “Wait, are there any sexy girls there this time?” Jess and Blake both said at the same time. Perverts! “Yep,” Patricia smirked, Preston butted in and mumbled, “Yeah, Sexy chicken’s,” to which everyone laughed while both of them looked like they wanted to kill Preston. “What time are we leaving?” Todd asked. “We haven’t decided yet,” Josh replied, throwing his arms around Patricia’s shoulder as he kissed her cheek. They’re so adorable together! “We have 15 mins to kill. Let’s go outside,” David said. There was a bench toward the left of the school outside, no one was there so we headed there. The school’s shadow was hiding the sun from that area, which is a good thing’ cause the sun was damn hot. Preston stood a seat beside me as I sat down. He smiled, winking when Patricia mumbled, “Hey I founded chalk. Anyone wanna play hopscotch?” Shrugging, I said, “I don’t mind,” “Babe, don’t tell me, your drawing on the concrete cause the teacher is going to get a fit like the last time,” She smirked and ignore and took the chalk and went to draw the hopscotch on the concrete. After she finishes, she asked, “Anyone got anything we can use to play with?” I took off my bracelet and handed it to her, “Here,” “Who’s first?” we all watched each other but said nothing, so Patricia decided to go first. It had been so long since I had played this game. Honestly, I don’t even think I remember how to play. After a while it was my turn, Patricia was out when she reached the two top boxes. When she throws the bracelet, it went too far. Taking the bracelet, I throw it on the first box. Skipping the first one, I jumped to the second box, then double, single, double, and turned around the follow the boxes and picked up the bracelet and continue the process till it was the next person. So far Jessica is in the lead, she had surpassed Patricia and me, I’m last because well I suck at throwing. “Girls, the bell rang about 2 minutes ago,” Josh said “s**t, let’s go,” Patricia set as we all set off to class.
