Dru
When Dru got out of his truck at the compound, Annie’s familiar scent greeted him. The hair on the back of his neck stood up. Annie shouldn’t have stepped foot out of the house. Dru rushed inside and no one was around. He heard dishes banging in the kitchen, so he stepped in to find Ava in her usual position.
“Have you seen, Annie?”
“No, I haven’t seen anyone for a while. The boys are upstairs in Brody’s room and the men are in the sparring room.”
Dru took off upstairs first to check on Ethan.
“Hey, Daddy, did you come to tell me how much you love me, too?” Ethan asked when Dru walked in the room.
“What do you mean, buddy?”
“Mommy came in and was crying, telling me how much she loved me. I thought maybe that’s why you were here, too.”
Dru knelt down next to the boys
