Scott explained his theory, how the Quantum Realm could be used as a gateway to different points in time. Bruce was skeptical at first, but after running some tests, he confirmed that it was possible. They just needed a way to navigate the Quantum Realm and a plan for retrieving the Stones. Enter Tony Stark. He arrived back on Earth just in time to hear about their crazy plan, and was immediately intrigued. He began working with Bruce to design a suit that could withstand the rigors of the Quantum Realm, as well as a device that could navigate through time. The rest of the Avengers began to devise a plan for retrieving the Stones, splitting up into teams to tackle different time periods. Tony, Steve, and Scott would go back to the Battle of New York in 2012 to retrieve the Mind and Time Stones. Natasha and Clint Barton, aka Hawkeye, would travel to Vormir to retrieve the Soul Stone. Thor and Rocket would travel to Asgard in 2013 to retrieve the Reality Stone. And finally, Nebula and War Machine would travel to Morag in 2014 to retrieve the Power Stone. The plan was risky, but they had no other choice. They set their plan into motion, with Tony, Steve, and Scott travelling back to 2012 first. They arrived in New York City during the Chitauri invasion, and quickly set to work on their mission. Tony and Steve went after the Mind Stone, disguised as S.H.I.E.L.D. agents. In the end, Iron Man made the ultimate sacrifice, using the gauntlet to snap Thanos and his army out of existence but losing his own life in the process.
