Yuna my best friend finally bought her first car yesterday so we thought it would be a good idea to celebrate at the most popular club in shadow moon. I had gotten blackout drunk because I don't even remember going home. I remember Yuna disappeared last night with my brother Michael. I woke up in this morning. Body half into the toilet bowl. I smelt disgusting. my head was pounding_ still is_ and I felt like I was hit by a truck. partying during weekdays is never a good idea. I was barely able to focus on class and just zoned out halfway through the lecture. Thank heavens for Benny's. the homey interior and warm lightning eases my headache marginally. I spend more time here with Yuna than at home. " Kate." someone calls from behind me. Yuna. the tone of her voice almost give me a whiplash from how fast I turned. her eyes are swollen like she cried herself to sleep. even with that she's still breathtaking. if I cried I wouldn't want to show my hideous face outside. I can barely contain my joy at the statement. my legs are trembling willing me to jump. " that's great news. then why are you sad." " he doesn't want me Kate." new tears form in her eyes, she folds into herself as it ashamed to look at me. I'm confused. why would her mate no want her, I can't be because of physical appearance. that would be ridiculous as shes the type of beauty you would dream to have. I've been jealous of her since we were kids, how normal she makes it when no matter how hard I tried I could never compare. " who is it?" she doesn't answer. like she protecting them. "Yuna tell me who is it." why doesn't she want to talk. " let's just leave it okay, it's not a big deal Katy I'm fine." she looks exhausted. I want to push but I know Yuna too well. does Michael know, I'll try find out later. " why don't you come over later, let's watch a movie or something." " can't I'm sorry but I have assignments to finish. the deadline's tomorrow." I can tell she's lying, she looks so tired. I don't want her to distance herself but I can't push too much. "ok...oh you hear about the Winstons coming next week?" she perks up a bit. " yeah, I heard. what do you think it's about has your dad told you anything. the timing seems a bit...." she flips her palm in the air her face wincing. she's right it's suspicious the Winstons are coming to shadow. the last I heard they were in greyhound pack building a school or something. with how influential the are its very concerning that they'd want to visit our pack considering their pack and ours never saw eye to eye either for decades. I stop short almost swallowing my hand. what the hell is wrong with me. she doesn't notice my inner turmoil as she continues fangirls over him. I rushed back to Yuna sitting there lost in thought. as much as I hate to leave her alone, I can't ignore the gnawing feeling that something big is coming. I put everything in my bag, give her a kiss on the cheek, pause to study her for a moment then take off. It doesn't take long before I reach the long driveway leading to our house. Being born in to a rich family is something I will always be proud of. at least I have this to cover up for not being beautiful. I've been told to stop thinking of things like this but it's kind of hard being born in a family filled with angel like looks. I'm so surrounded by beautiful people I feel like a pity case when they call me pretty. " Hey dad. mom I'm home." the house is so quiet. usually the helpers would be dancing around the house with my mother on their tails. my brother appears at the top staircase. " Michael." he stands there beckoning me. " what is this about?" I ask when I reach him. he shrugs walking besides me towards my father's office. he looks stiff. troubled even. "what's going on with you, you okay?" i whisper. I knock when we get to the door. " Come in." I hear my father's voice from inside. we enter and my mother points to the chairs. indicating. once the two of us settled down on our respected seats dad clears his throat and begins.
