My guest c****d a brow. “You shouldn’t asked promises like that, Angel. You might get taken advantage of.”
“An- angel?!” I spluttered, my cheeks getting warm.
“Hm. You helped me and nursed me to your best of your abilities. If that isn’t the signs that you were godsend, I don’t know what is.”
I threw my head to the side, not wanting him to see the blush taking over my cheeks. I could feel his stare on my person.
“However, since you’re insisting, I’d like to stay with you until I’m healed.”
I turned back to him.
“As you can see, I have no chance of even going far in this condition. If its alright, I’d like to recuperate here.”
I didn’t answer for sometime, and when I did, I first asked, “Are you in any serious danger?”
What am I even saying? Of course he was!
“I’m asking because the wounds on you are so brutal that it worries me. If you stay here, would I be in any harm as well?”
He nods. “After escaping from my captors, I’ve tried my best to hide from them – and so far, that has worked. So rest assured that I’d stay put so that you wouldn’t be in danger as well.”
Captors... so I was right, he was held prisoner. Well then, my mind was made up.
“Yes, you can stay. As long as you want.” I stretched out my hand to him, my lips spread in a soft smile. “Hi. My name is Marilyn Lane.”
My guest took my hand into his, turned it around and leaned down to place a chaste kiss on the back of my palm. “Samuel... Cain. A pleasure to meet you, Angel.”
His use of the nickname drove away the prickling signal that he might not be truthful about his name for a second, and when I realized his hesitation, I didn’t bring it up. Instead, I welcomes him into my home.
It has been some few days since Samuel had been living with me. It was actually nice to have another person in the somewhat large apartment with me. Although quiet, he was a good conversationalist and I found myself being immersed by the discussion he brought up. Sometimes, I couldn’t help but wonder if he was a high ranking supernatural or something.
On the end of the first week of his stay with him, I came to a conclusion that Samuel’s wounds were healing too slowly. I stated this out loud as I changed his bandages for the second time that day.
“It is because i have a heavy amount of poison in my body system right now.”
I froze and then slowly raised my head to look up at him. “What?”
“I know that you know I’m not human, Angel, so I ask you, with what you’ve seen me do when I was at my weakest, do you really think I’d be an easy person to subdue without the help of illegal substances?”
Oh, those fuckers. “How cowardly of them.” My lips were turned in a displeased frown. “If they couldn’t get you whilst at your normal strength then they lack honor.”
Samuel c****d an amused brow. “In the few days I’ve been with you, I’ve realized that you’re quiet a big support of supernatural races, but at the same time you don’t kiss ass and also support humans as well. And you’re also quiet knowledgeable about some cutters of various species. Don’t think I haven’t noticed you trying to get what I truly am out of me in a subtle manner.”
I shrugged with a mischievous smirk. “Well, can’t blame a girl for trying.”
Samuel chuckled, giving me a fond look. “Don’t worry, you might find out what I truly am soon enough.”
I rolled my eyes at him in a fond manner before I finished the touches on his new bandages, the wound clean of blood and fluid once again.
Samuel then informed me that for the poison in his system he had to take a brew made out from some certain herb. He listed down the herbs for her and Marilyn tool a moment to awe at his beautiful handwriting. When I later searched for the herbs online, I narrowed down Samuel’s possible specie from Werewolf to Beasetman. Sure, some of the herbs were used by most supernatural creatures but these two categories used it mostly. Samuel informed me that these herbs were quiet expensive as it was mostly experienced witches that grew them but I assured him that I had it covered.
“I never asked, and forgive me for asking, but what exactly do you do? Because whilst the area this building is located is less than... acceptable, its well furnished and taken care of. And your security is highly sophisticated.”
“Well, I work as an assistant for a tech company and that brings in quiet some bucks. But what makes me able to live a comfortable life is that I am a Blood Seller.” Here, at looked at him directly to see his reaction, be it good or bad, but I saw none.
“Ah. I take it you’re are rare type?”
I nodded, still looking for any reaction.
“Well, that is good. I know the Bank pays a heft amount for rate types.” He lay back on the pill, huffing a little at the twinge of pain. “If you’d be so kind as to make the purchases, and please know that I’d be weakly, I’d highly appreciate it.”
A warm smile crept onto my lips and I nodded. I took a change of clothes from my wardrobe and went to the bathroom to change. When I came out, Samuel was already slowly drifting into a light slumber. I carried my wallet and I went out.
Samuel wasn’t joking when he said that the herbs were pricey but I didn’t dwell on it too much. I also took the chance to purchase some groceries because for the next couple of weeks, or even months, i’d be cooking for two. When I came back, struggling to juggle many bags and dropping some to open the door with my thumbprint, Samuel was sitting in the living room, wearing one of the new shirt and shorts I had purchased for him. Seeing me struggle, he stood to help me, to my protest as he still looked weak.
With Samuel helping me, I cooked a hefty dinner before brewing the herbs together for the concoction, chopping some need ingredients like ginger and garlic in it. When we finished eating, Samuel forced the drink down.
