Hearing Jenny's suspicion, Sophia's beautiful face slightly changed, her expression showing a frown. She wasn't too concerned about the small gift Ethan had prepared for her, but if Ethan had indeed bought a high-quality imitation watch and Jenny noticed it, it would be very embarrassing.
Before Ethan could say anything, Jenny extended her hand and grabbed the gift box. Jenny was looking for an opportunity to mock Ethan. If the imitation watch Ethan had bought could be easily exposed, Sophia would clearly see Ethan’s true personality, and it was highly likely that their marriage would end in divorce.
"Do you mind if I take a look?" Jenny asked as she took the gift box from Ethan's hands. She was eager to open the watch box.
Sophia was startled and said, "Isn’t this the watch I saw last time?"
Ethan smiled and replied, "Yes, I saw that you liked it, so I bought it for you."
Jenny secretly mocked him in her heart, but when she looked at the watch more closely, her expression slightly changed because she couldn’t find anything wrong with it.
"This imitation watch is quite beautiful, almost like the real one," Jenny sneered, still convinced that it was a high-quality imitation and not the real Richard Mille.
At that moment, a BMW drove by and honked its horn. Jenny’s eyes lit up, and she immediately said, "My boyfriend is here. He’s the vice president of a listed company. He also has a Richard Mille watch. I’ll ask him to check it out."
Jenny gestured to the BMW, and a man in a suit stepped out of the car. The man was about 30 years old and wore gold-framed glasses.
Jenny hugged the man’s arm and said proudly, "Sophia, this is my boyfriend, Bobby."
"He used to work at a tech company abroad. Now he works at a company in this city as a vice president," Jenny continued.
Bobby glanced at Sophia and suddenly showed an admiring look. "Jenny, is this the best friend you often talk about?"
"Yes!" Jenny answered.
Sophia nodded and smiled politely. "Hello, Bobby!"
Jenny immediately said, "Darling, could you help me check if this watch is a high-quality imitation?"
Bobby, dressed in an Armani suit, with a Richard Mille watch on his wrist, Fendi leather shoes, and Cartier glasses, gave off the impression of a "successful person."
Bobby carefully examined the watch.
"This should be a genuine Richard Mille," Bobby said after inspecting for a while. "Did you buy it, Jenny?"
"I didn’t buy it, but Sophia’s husband bought it for her," Jenny replied.
Upon hearing that, Jenny’s face slightly changed. "Bobby, are you serious?" she asked, not believing that Ethan could afford such an expensive watch.
Bobby nodded again. "It’s true. Richard Mille watches have a production number on the back. They’re unique. The easiest way to distinguish the real ones from the fake is to call the local authorized store."
Actually, Jenny had already started to suspect that the watch might be real, but there was still a bit of disbelief nagging her.
Jenny hoped the watch was fake, because if it were, she could prove that Ethan was just wasting his money. If the watch turned out to be real, then Jenny’s previous remarks would slap her in the face. And she would be embarrassed.
"How could that be? Do you think he could afford such an expensive watch?" Jenny said with a mocking tone.
Sophia looked doubtful, her expression showing her confusion about how Ethan could have bought such an expensive watch.
Suddenly, Jenny's eyes lit up. She pointed at Ethan and said, "I know!"
"You stole this watch, didn’t you? Ethan, you stole such an expensive watch, but you’ll be punished with jail time. Sophia will definitely be very angry!" Jenny continued.
Sophia immediately looked at Ethan with concern. If the watch was really stolen, it would be very disappointing.
Ethan frowned slightly and said, "There’s a receipt and an invoice in the gift box. Didn’t you see them?"
"There were servants and surveillance cameras at the store. How could I have stolen the watch under such scrutiny? Are you treating me like a thief?" Ethan continued.
Jenny grabbed the receipt and invoice and carefully checked them, snorting. "Receipts and invoices can be forged. You prepared these in advance!"
Ethan replied, "The store’s contact number is on the receipt. If you don’t believe it, you can call and ask directly."
Jenny challenged, "Do you think I’m scared?" She dialed the contact number on the receipt and immediately made the call.
She intentionally put the phone on speaker so that Sophia could hear if Ethan was lying.
"Hello, Richard Mille Watch Store here, how may I assist you?" a woman's voice came from the other end.
Jenny stared at Ethan and asked, "Hello, my friend bought a watch from your store and wants to check if it’s real."
"Okay, Ma’am, this watch has a production number on the back. Can you provide that number?" replied the store manager.
"112234," Jenny answered while looking at the back of the watch.
Jenny gave the number, and after a brief pause, the manager replied, "Ma’am, this watch is indeed from our store. It was bought by a customer this afternoon."
Jenny’s face turned sour, and she immediately asked, "Who was the person who bought the watch?"
The store manager was slightly surprised. It was impossible for her to know who bought the watch if it had already changed hands.
"Sorry, the buyer’s name is confidential."
Jenny couldn’t hold back and asked, "Was the person who bought the watch named Ethan?"
Lily, the store manager, was shocked. Since she had recorded Ethan's name and phone number, she recognized him clearly. "Yes. Do you know Mr. Ethan?"
Jenny was stunned!
From the conversation, it was confirmed that Ethan was indeed the one who bought the watch.
