After a long day at work, Jayden got home and poured himself a drink at the mini bar, he drained the glass in one gulp and poured himself another before going to slump on his sofa.
"What a tough woman."
He sat there for a few minutes, lost in thoughts as he sips his brandy. He thought of his life before and how peaceful it is now, comparing then and now, he wished he did things differently then. He began to laugh, slowly at first but hysterically and loud afterwards, he stopped as he took a deep breath;
"This..... is way better." He said.
"Are you okay boss?" his cook asked, an old but strong man who was five feet tall.
"I told you Stan, don't call me 'boss'." he finished his drink and headed to his room to take a shower.
DAVIS' RESIDENCE.
The car pulled over in front of the mansion, Katherine got out and walked into the house;
"You're home, i've been waiting for you before i have dinner." A middle aged woman in her late fifties said.
"You didn't have to wait Melissa Davis, I'm not a child..... or would you rather i feed you instead?" Katherine retorted.
"You will speak to me with respect Katherine! I've had enough of your shenanigans, you say you're not a child but you act like one. It's been three years since the incident and you still find it difficult to reason and forgive me, no matter how many times i've apologized."
"Forgive you? Why would i? You never listen to me, why should i listen to you now? You would have avoided all this if you......"
"If i what?" Melissa looked at her with teary eyes.
"Never mind." Katherine bowed her head, "i have to freshen up. Go ahead and eat, i'm not hungry." She walked away.
Melissa sighed, she couldn't figure out a way to make up with her daughter.
She knew the incident with her and her husband affected Katherine badly and that was why she decided to send her to England for treatments.
Her precious and only daughter developed a psychological disorder because of the constant fighting in her marriage, it broke her into a million pieces when Katherine was away for two years.
Melissa couldn't eat anymore so she left the dining and went up to her room, she had tears flowing down her cheeks by the time she walked passed Katherine's room, she decided to keep seeking for her daughter's forgiveness because she believes that Katherine would come to call her 'mom' once again.
Katherine stayed in the shower even after her bath, the water running down her face and body soothed her nerves. She stopped taking her medications two weeks ago and it seems her anxiety returned, she managed to walk out of the bathroom in her robe and went straight to the bedside drawer.
There was her medication but she hesitated for a while;
"How long will i keep taking these f*****g pills? This is all her fault, if she listened to me and left that bastard of a father or killed him even." Katherine said as she struggled to open the bottle.
"s**t!" Katherine swore, the bottle had fallen to the ground with all the pills scattered on the floor, she picked up the telephone and called the butler;
"Is nova still there?"
"No ma'am, she left a while ago." He answered
"I didn't tell her to leave.... Tell the driver to get my car ready." Katherine said angrily and dropped the phone.
She dressed up in a long black sleeveless gown with a jacket incase it gets chilly outside, then she walked out of her room, down the stairs and out of the house. She got into the car and the driver drove off, he took her to her therapist who she was suppose to be seeing once she arrived new york. she was surprised to see katherine at 9pm in her home;
"Katherine what are you doing here? it's late."
"I need medications Greta, I think i forgot the one i had in England. " Katherine said with her hands inside her coat pocket.
Greta shook her head and went into her storage, she brought Katherine a bottle of the medication;
"Why not give me two? I don't want to come back here after a week."
"A week? Kathy they ain't peppermint and that bottle should take you a month. They didn't prescribed that for you to use as you wish but for emergencies." Greta frowned.
"But my emergencies happens almost everyday since i got back into this goddamn country."
Greta sighed, "Kathy you need to resume your sessions. If you continue like this, you'll breakdown and i won't have that."
"There's no way i'm coming to sit for hours talking s**t with you, i'm a busy woman now.... thanks for this anyway." Katherine turned to leave.
"I'll have to call your mother and tell her you've started using again." Greta threatened
Katherine halted in her tracks but didn't turn, she bit her lips hard before speaking;
"Fine, I'll call to schedule, have a goodnight." She left, not after she heard greta chuckle.
Katherine told the driver to take her somewhere quiet and peaceful, he took her to the city garden.
It's where people go for pinics during the day, also where lovers spend time, also where mothers take kids to on a play day, basically it's a fun place to be and a place to think.
Katherine was taking a walk on the pedestrian, she was so immersed in her thoughts that she didn't see who was walking towards her, the guy grabbed her hand and twisted it backwards;
"Scream and I'll cut you." He said as he pressed something to her throat, that's when katherine knew he had a knife.
"Give me your cellphone and purse." He ordered
She hands them over to him but he was knocked out just in time to the ground, Katherine froze.
