Bright lights pierced my lids and I slowly opened them. There was nothing but white in front of me and I felt my head spin. The fear of not knowing where I am was starting to grow around me and I slowly felt like I was being suffocated.
"Fear not, child", an unknown voice rang inside my head.
I quickly sat up, wanting to run but there was nowhere to go. Everywhere I turned was white. It was never-ending.
"Where am I?" I asked with a slight tremble in my voice.
"Your consciousness", it replied. A black smoky mass appeared in front of me, reaching out with its inky depths before a giant white wolf ran in between us, making the black smoke dissipate.
"I am you", the wolf replied, bowing its head down at me. Her fur glowed as bright as this room and her eyes were jewels of emeralds looking right at me.
"Why am I here?"
"You're awakening", said the wolf as she walked circles around me as if examining me. She walked closer, sniffing my face and stopping once our eyes met. "But you're weak", she huffed air out onto my face.
"Awakening?" I asked as I shifted to sit on my knees and the wolf nodded.
"Your gifts are emerging but it'll be a while before you can control it. I'm not the only thing that resides in you", she told me as her voice boomed and echoed. The white around us turned gray before black shadows slithered like snakes on the floor.
"What's happening? What's going on?!" I yelled with fear imminent in my voice.
The darkness started to settle in and I immediately rushed over towards the white wolf as she's the only source of light.
"Chaos", she whispered. "It resides within you. Control it, and it doesn't control you". Her body started to dissipate and the only source of light was diminishing.
"Wait, don't go please!" I begged but the last speck of light disappeared before my eyes.
I could feel the darkness loom over me as it's shadows slither up my body. My breath hitched as it wrapped around all of my sensitive areas. Tears began to roll down my cheeks as the Chaos wrapped itself around my neck.
"Stop", I begged in a small whisper but the hold on my neck just got tighter. "Please, stop", I sobbed as my voice strained but that only made it wrapped itself around my entire body. "Stop!" I finally screamed and I felt myself being pulled as my body jerked up. Lights began to fill my vision along with the sound of birds and falling water.
"Shh", someone shushed in a calming manner. I looked around me and found myself laying on the dirt surrounded by tall trees. Animals of all sizes were gathered around in a circle all looking at me. My chest thundered as my eyes made contact with a puma. "It's okay, you're alright", said the soothing voice.
I finally turned my head towards the source and was met with sparkling green eyes and dark hair like mine. "Mom?" I whispered in disbelief.
She nodded and I lifted myself up to hug her. "I'm here sweetie", she cried and I hugged her tighter.
"But how? Last time I saw you-- you were getting ambushed". She lightly chuckled and pushed me away to fully look at me.
"I barely managed to escape but I did and I'm here", she caressed my cheek.
"I-- I have so many questions and no answers", I leaned into her touch and she cried.
"I know and I'm sorry sweetie". She rubbed my forehead with her thumb and memories of when I'm with her and Fenrir flooded into my mind. "I'm also sorry I had to take these memories from you. I couldn't risk Odin finding you".
"Why is he so adamant about killing me? Is it because of the Chaos inside me? Why not Brayan? He's done far worse over the last year than I ever could" I asked hysterically. Memories of when I was a child sleeping, playing and eating had hit me like a train. I didn't know how to feel at that point, just empty.
"How do you know about the Chaos?" She looked at me as if trying to read my mind. Rustling of leaves could be heard and I immediately got up on my feet ready to run when the sound of a familiar voice stopped me.
"Relax, it's just us. Glad to see the both of you are finally awake", said Zahruk's voice.
I turned to see Zahruk standing next to Fenrir and a groggy looking Aodin. I looked around confused when my mother finally stood and sighed heavily.
"Come, there's much to talk about".
