Dustin's P.O.V.
I woke up seeing Michael next to my bed slouched in the chair sleeping and Tobias sitting in a chair on my other side asleep as well. I found both their sleeping faces cute.
They were calm in their sleep, now if only they could be this calm awake too.
I sat there in silence the only noise being the machine behind Michael's chair beeping constantly being consistent with my heart beat, telling me that I was still alive. I frowned at the thought of me living.
I was always told I was worthless and useless and a freak. My father beat it into me everyday that I had no worth and I should have died a long time ago. I know it's true and I know what I need to do but I can't with these two people that care about me for no reason.
If one of them found my body I'd never forgive myself. Toby and Michael were the only ones who cared or at least pitied me enough to help me. The thought made me frown more, pity isn't something I'd want from people I don't want pity I want love.
I don't deserve it though, I never deserved love and I know I'll never get it so pity is the most I can get out of people.
Michael groaned quietly as he woke up. He looked over at me seemingly surprised that I was awake though I'm not sure why, I did go to sleep earlier than them.
He smiles at me and grabs my hand running his thumb over my knuckles as if he were comforting me. We sat in silence for a couple minutes before he spoke up, "So we decided on where you're going to live now."
I was confused and I'm sure it showed because Michael soon elaborated. "We don't want you going to some foster home where you could get hurt worse than now so you'll stay with Toby okay?"
He said as if I were a five year old whose parents were getting a divorce. I nodded and squeezed his hand before looking at Toby who was still asleep. He began stirring so I used my other hand to hold his.
He looked up at me and smiled, but the smile soon faded when saw my hand in Michael's. I never understood why me having contact with one of them would disturb the other but I let it go as well as letting both their hands go when I see Michael give the same reaction to me and Toby holding hands.
This is starting to get ridiculous. "Are you guys ever going to get along?" I huff in irritation as I cross my arms over my chest. I gave a slight pout for extra effect and both boys easily crumbled. "Sorry kitten I'll try to get along with the dog." Tobias said which caused Michael to sneer.
"Yeah I'll be more friendly to the blood sucking wannabe zombie." My frown deepened as they made jabs at each other while promising not to. I groaned and fall back on my bed. My head hit the pillow and suddenly I got an idea.
"If that's how you'll act towards each other then maybe I should stay with uncle Dean instead." I said to which Michael whimpered and Toby frowned and a silence settled before I continued. "I mean there's no use trying to be friends with both of you if you guys can't get along anyway."
This caused them both to gasp and look at me in disbelief. I know this made them both upset but it was the only way I could get them to get along. I grabbed to remote that was attached to the bed and pressed the button to call in uncle Dean.
"Wait Dustin you don't have to, you can stay with me." Tobias argued, but I wasn't hearing it. "No Toby because then Michael will want visit and then you'll get in a fight. If I stay with Dean then you don't have to worry because he'll keep you both away from me."
After saying that they both broke like a dam and the apologies and promises flood the room.
"We can get along."
"Yeah we'll be nice."
"I promise not to call him a mutt anymore."
"And I promise not to call him and undead blood sucking glorified zombie."
They both held pleading eyes as they practically begged for me not to stay with Dean. In all honesty I wasn't planning on going with Dean, I just wanted some jello. Though watching them grovel and beg was very amusing so I ignored them and pressed the button again getting impatient.
Michael and Toby both looked at each other in worry as they grabbed my hands. Michael looked like he would cry and so did Toby.
I looked at them both and I couldn't hold it any longer. I burst out laughing, I laughed so hard that my stomach hurt and I had tears in my eyes. They both looked confused and were about to question my amusement when uncle Dean came in with an annoyed look and two cups of green jello.
I smiled happily as he dropped the two jellos on my lap with a grumbled 'here'. I giggled more at Tobias' and Michael's faces. They both held questioning gazes and looked between each other and me.
I ignored them and ate my jello silently as uncle Dean went to work checking my vitals or whatever. He still seemed upset that I called him, I'll ask about it later.
Toby finally voiced his and Michael's question. "What's funny?" He asked and I laughed again this time alot quieter. "The looks on your faces when I said you'd never see me again. It was priceless, I should've taken a picture." I laughed.
I could see out of the corner of my eye that uncle Dean had an amused look as well. I'm glad he's in a better mood. Michael and Toby were still looking at me confused so I decided to explain.
"I had to make you think that you wouldn't see me again so you would agree to be nice to each other. You both promised so no takesies backsies." I said smiling at them both.
They looked shocked and Toby was the first to speak. "Well played Dustin, well played." He said with a smirk that said he'd get me back.
"Awe my little kitten is so smart." Michael cooed as he hugged me. I giggled and hugged him back while Tobias glared at him. I wasn't even mad when uncle Dean went into protective mode and pulled Michael off of me.
My only friends are finally going to get along by force of course, but nonetheless they'll get along.
