At just eight years old I was already able to climb the highest tree quicker than the other children at school. I could beat all the boys at track running too. They cried about it often of course. My family are wealthy and own a significant amount of land. Meaning my free time was spent exploring the outdoors. I was strong and free spirited. Until this day. I had awoke from sleep whilst it was still dark out. My lips were dry so I decided to venture down to the kitchen for water. I had just reached the door when I heard voices and froze. “I do not think this is the best option right now,” my mother’s voice was pleading and my concern for her grew. My father sighs deeply, “she is too strong willed Angela. Her teachers are concerned about her arrogance and frankly she needs to learn how to be a lady.” “But boarding school in Poland seems extreme.” My mother replies and my stomach drops. “Anya is still young. She needs more time to change.” They want to send me away. How could they just ship me off to Poland? Am I really so bad? I think to all the times I have been competitive with my friends. The times I have volunteered to demonstrate my abilities. Maybe they are right and I am too much. I can change though. “We will give it another week and see if anything changes.” My father decides. I hear heels clicking so sprint for the stairs and dive back into my bedroom.
