CHAPTER 2

986 Words
It's the last day of summer, the Students are getting ready to leave Camp Logan and head back to their various cities and get ready for school. There's a lot of excitement in the air. Those that made friends are saying goodbye to friends and sand orthoses who hate the place like Kelwantsant nothing but the bus to arrive to take them home, or their parents, whichever comes first. Kelly is all prepped to go back home to Dallas, Texas. She can't be happier than this, she finally gets to leave this hell hole and go back home to her friends and family, and her familiar life. Her dad is taking too long to arrive at Camp Logan, she has called him about twenty-four times already today, she loses patience and decides to sneak to the piers one last time and take in the sun and breeze and smell of the waters one last time. Then she decides to Kayak one last time until her father arrives at the camp. After about half an hour on the pier, throwing stones into the Lake, she decides since her father is still not at camp she should Kayak a bit. She unties the Kayak from the railing on the pier, lets it float into the water, finds a paddle, and climbs into the Kayak. She paddles the Kayak continuously and for some reason she keeps going deeper and deeper, straying father away from land until the water current starts becoming too strong for her, she paddles and paddle, and the evening tides rush the yellow wooden Kaya, and rock it from side to side. It gets more and more difficult to keep the Kayak steady, and Kelly begins losing balance. She screams for help, but most of the kids at camp and the camp staff are on the driveway waiting for the parents to come and get their kids, there's barely anybody around the lake area. Kelly sees her life begin to flash in front of her eyes, and she begins shedding tears, she thinks she is really about to drown to death. The kayak succumbs to the pressure of the tides and capsizes into the water, throwing Kelly into it like the famous phrase throwing the bathwater with the baby. She tries hard to swim, trying to stay above the water, holding her breath, trying t to remember everything she was taught in gym class about swimming, but the water current is too strong for her and feels her legs getting weaker and weaker, she begins to give up the struggle to stay above the water level. Then suddenly, a hand catches her just as she is about to drown, somebody had jumped into the water and carried Kelly with him as he swam to the shore, she barely knows what's going on. The tall teenage boy with blonde hair dragged Kelly out of the water and when he was about to administer CPR on her, she came back to consciousness and let out of all the water she swallowed while she was drowning. He laughs as she comes in started with a giggle and then burst into full-on laughter. "What's so funny?" Kelly asks the boy, he does not respond, he just continued laughing louder and louder. It has gotten darker and the moon is showing its face in the sky. Kelly asks again, Whoo are you, and what's funny?" "Nothing, nothing really," the boy replies. "But you are laughing, and quite hysterically, I mean I almost died in there and you are laughing, I wanna know what's so funny about that," "No, no I'm not laughing at you almost drowning, even though your breaststrokes are terrible..." the tall blonde boy responds, his hair and clothes wet and his Adam's apple escalating up and down like a seesaw as he spoke. He wrings his clothes of water and stares at Kelly in the eyes. Her face goes flush in embarrassment, and she lowers her eyes to avoid gaze and gaze gad wringing her wet clothes too. "Oh we breaststrokers kiss are pathetic I agree, but if that's not what you were laughing at it must mean they're not that bad," Kelly admits but not for her earlier question. "What then were you laughing at?" His Adam's apple jumps full throttle as he responds, "I'm so ugly that you would not even let me kiss you to save your life, write literally." "What do you mean...?" "I mean I was trying to administer mouth to mouth and you didn't even let my lips touch yours, you just came to..." "That doesn't make you ugly, it's just a...uh...a coincidence..." "Was it now huh, so does that mean you would let me kiss you?" "Hell no, I don't even know.." Kelly replied. "I don't even know you either, and I just risked my life to save yours, what if I drowned holding your weight in one hand and swimming with one hand..?" Kelly said, Whoo are, you by the way, I've never seen you around here before, "The question should be, I think, what are you doing out here so late by yourself, the parents of the other kids have all picked them up and taken them home, so what's your story?" The boy asks Kelly. "I asked first, you answer me," Answered memory before remembering her father should have already come to pick her up, luckily for her she left her on the pier before entering the Kayak, she started looking for it in her pants pockets though. The boy holds it up and says, "Looking for this?" He had picked it up on the pier, and she snatched it from him and proceeded to check her call log for any missed calls from her Dad. But unfortunately, She got no missed calls from her father. Not even a person has called. She became curious and started worrying.
