Chapter 1-When life becomes hell
It began as a whispering. The night was beautiful and the sky was like a dome of galaxy; filled with stars. The clouds had look like an airy anvils drifting under the gleaming disc of moon. But then, a huffing wind rose up and a tinkling sound came to my ears as the first pearls of rain dropped onto the ground. It sounded like the glassy clinking of a champagne flute, lilting and clear. I diverted my angle as the crystal droplets seemed to be touching the bareness of my feet. Curling against the freezing breeze of the cold night, outside the huge doors of the mansion. The place where I was born but now, felt like a stranger searching for a shelter to move in.
The white floor was completely flooded by water, making my entireness drenched in wetness and the cryptic coldness filling underneath my cracking bones. As I hug the black bag, the only hope of my living. A rumbling sound of thunder shakened the ground. Trailing certain patterns on the sky.
I stared myself at the reflection on the water. My hair was all over the place, as my bare skin printed over my drenched clothes. My face looks pale, and no life. As far as I remeber, I was the daughter of the Ortega Clan. I was poised with elegance, beauty, and discipline. Coming from one of the most wealthiest family was ever the most fortunate fate I was driven to, only that their traditions and principles had turned their hearts blind and abandoned me. I was a part of the family but, now I am only a stranger. Curling outside the shut doors of the mansion, waiting for the rain to stop to clear the path of my undecided life.
I lift my head and saw that the heavens had decided to stop pouring their happiness to the earth, while I'm in the midst of path to the hell of life. I gathered myself and began pacing out of the Villa, I turned my head once more, staring at the solemnity that made me wept. I will never forget how they abandoned me, how they cut their ties with me. Those words they threw at me, that cutted a deep wound inside my chest. That nobody can patch up for me. I said to myself and continued my path.
The night becomes darker and deeper, as the local wolves howling all over the mucky streets of the city. I could feel the mire sticking between each of my toes and the annoying puddles of water along the paths. My eyes began to wonder for a sleep, as my body was literally worn out from walking in a long duration.
I roamed my vision around but found nothing but uncozy and intolerable spot to rest, but either of which, I was given no choice at all but to accept what's on front of me. I'm no wealthy anymore, I am no different to a necissitous person. I took the cardboard standing next to the posts office and place it on top of the bench.
As I lay myself on it, I closed my eyes and a drop of solitude traveled down my cheeks. This was never the most comfortable place to sleep, nor is the most safest place for me however, I am still grateful despite, that I am still able to find a place to rest than to lay down on streets with nothing.
The petrichor seems to help me fall asleep, as soon as I sniffed it I was taken to the dreamland.
The rays of the sun tickled my feet to consciousness as my lashes flickered from the vividness appeared before me. My body move upward and sat on the bench, while trying to knock some sense to myself. A ravenous sound coming from my guts made me quivered. I decided to stop by a cafe and have my breakfast before continuing my path.
I reached out some cash, out from the bag to pay the cashier. The people's eyes darted towards me, as if I look like the most penniless person in the world. I minded my own business and ate without any hesitation. Today don't seem to be raining at all, the rays of the sun clung upon the fluffly clouds, smiling brightly above the sky.
As I walked out of the place, a poster taped along the walls of a*****e caught my attention. " Isla De Moraes, giving 30% discount this summer. Come and visit now!"
I remembered this one time mom used to tell me, Aunt Mercy usually lives across the Isla De Moraes. In the middle of the ocean, where a silly house floating above the crystalize waters. That's right, I can actually live with her together. Plus my ever so natural tan skin calls its nature to where it belongs. After all living on the ocean don't seem to be a bad idea at all.
I paced towards the sea port, aiming to rent a small boat for myself. I can sail, I used to do it a lot before except that I don't know how to swim but that's totally fine.
"Hi Sir! Is this boat for rent?" I asked the old man leaning on the not so good looking canoe boat but it looks sturdy and probably works fine. The Island isn't that far anyway. It is located on front of Island Marquis; where I stood tall right now. Behind the huge clouds forming across the ocean, I've never been there since my parents prohibited me to go beyond the place but I know exactly where it is.
"Yes for sure, my dear." he responded, as his lips parted not that far from each other. I wonder why he has been here at this age, most geriatric take rest, enjoying the few moments of their lives. But it's impressive how can he still be working these days.
I handed him money surely enough for him to buy a new boat, since I don't know if ever I can still take this boat back here. He gave me the paddle and I hop off the boat with my bag.
As I paddle away from the port, the strong smell of dimethyl sulfide sniffs through my nostrills, the original smell of summer. And the ablazing sun meet me, wrapping its arms all over my body. In the midst of the ocean, where nothing is seems to be seen. I pulled the ragged clothes of my body and change into something way more comfortable.
I took the only clothes I have inside the black bag and put them on, then wrapped the bandana over my head. As my body feels so freely wearing these jeans shorts and a tight sleeveless. I don't look elegant or dazling in luxury as I was ,but somehow this normal clothes feel so warm and comfy.
After crossing the huge clouds covering the entrance, the extraordinary beauty of the island blew off my sane. I was literally awe-amazed by the beauty it has embellished. The deep but crystalize waters, letting you discover the wonders living underneath it. A huge diversified ocean filled with visible mysteries and school of different fishes. Swimming freely across the place, the healthy vivid variant of corals protecting its nature.
And I have never seen once in my life, huge rocks on the opening of the island that stood tall like a building. with its ever most beautiful greenish-violet accent, and those extremely white-pinkish sand that I had never seen ever. It felt like a fairytale, it didn't feel much real at all. Like I was inside of a dream.
Before I got to be totally distracted by its beauty, which I was. I continue paddling closer to find my Aunt's floating house. The shore was literally much further from where I am but I can clearly see it within my naked eye.
When my eyes caught the patched up, wooden house floating on the right side not that much far from me. I hurried to be close enough to it.
As I was a meter closer to it, I stood over from the canoe and was about to call her but, I lost my balance and fell terribly on the water. Forgetting the fact that I am totally unknowledgeable of swimming, I tried to pushed myself out of the water with my arms and hands. However, I could not find any leverage , for all I know I was dragging myself further down. The cold water filled my eyes, and blood pounded behind my eyes. I saw the exit but no longer have the stregnth to survive. As the air is almost sucked out of my body.
But before my soul could have been dragged out of my body, a strong arms held my waist. Withdrawing me out of the water, I could feel my body sticking against the person who saved me. And yet he laid me down on a bamboo floor, my eyes didn't have the urged of opening like I wasn't holding the control for it.
A huge palm held my upper chest as if it was checking whether my heart is still beating or not. But then, the last thing that made me froze completely was when I felt a soft lips laid above mine. My eyes opened in no time, wide and astounded.
It was a man that saved me, he was as well frozen in placed whilst our eyes were dancing in a galaxy universe within each other. My heart pounded fast and hard, like it was going to burst out of my chest. And yet, what surprises me the most was when he closed his eyes and kissed me deeply and hard.
His palm held my cheeks, to deepened the kiss more. However, I was not driven into this kind of temptation I pulled all the stregnth in my body and pushed him off me.
Before he was able to state his nonsense reason, a hot palm landed upon his cheeks.
"Pervert!"
I felt my face burning hot, forming shamefulness all over.
My eyes landed towards his gorgeous body, realizing he's half-naked infront of me. His hand was supposed to reached to me but I pushed him away from me. I'd never imagine of all the places I will be encountering such as this kind of disrespect in here.
"I'm sorry, you're irresistible. I lost control-" he blurted out with his deep voice that seemed to be cracking at the every end of his sentences. Another blazing hot palm landed on the other side of his face, and now it's fair enough.
"Miss you can be charge with domestic violence and abuse for slapping me twice," he seemed to be temperament, trying to control the fire ignited within his eyes. As the nerves along his neck began to become visible. Well, indeed that was a really hard slap but he deserved it.
"And where did you get the audacity to accused me? Your pervertism has served its right to be charge with the Republic Act No.11313: Safe Spaces Act. Kissing me without my prior permission is s****l harrassment."
I sneered at him and narrowed my eyes, sunking my brows. No one has ever offended me than this man had ever did.
Later then, a soft chuckle came out from his lips, as his dimples were trying to seduced me and his eyes bending like cupid's bow. He had a hazel colored deep seated eyes with his long curled lashes brushing over his eyelids, and an angled bushy brows down to his long celestial pointed nose and his thin shaped rosy lips. He had this cute curly brown hair and a drop-dead gorgeous body.
The way he smile is like how the heaven's gave you all the luck of the world. He don't seemed to be a really smiley person since he put his face back to his usual emotion. Narrowed brows and emotionless eyes.
"Okay you win, I lose but may this not be the first time I'd get to see you. 'Til next time then." he winked at me and ride his jetskie.
"May God forbid me to never cross our paths ever again!" I screamed as he continue chuckling away from me with those words.
And then a sudden flashback was reviewed by my mind, that kiss, it's unforgetable. IT'S MY FIRST KISS!
