Three Days

Theo and his top three men left just a few hours later. They packed light, but still packed just in case. They drove faster than the human speed limit permitted, but didn't care. They needed to find this mysterious woman and get answers. "Maybe she's a witch!" Bishop suddenly said, a bit of shock in his tone. Elliot punched him in the arm from the back. "You i***t, she would have smelled like a damn witch!" "Oh, right." Bishop didn't always think things through. The search was taking longer than wanted. They started with where they first saw her, but unfortunately her scent was gone, covered by the human traffic that already passed by. They split off into twos and started at either end of town. Again, no sign of this mysterious girl anywhere. They were on their third day there when Theo caught the scent that started it all. It was coming from the library. Before he could reach the steps, Elliot and Michael started to run up also. Elliot had a sense of urgency and passed Theo without stopping. Locking eyes with Michael, who shrugged and followed just as fast, Theo was third in tow. Not even waiting for a command, Bishop followed, ready to attack. They all busted through the door and paused. It was seconds before Elliot knew exactly where to run. He dodged shelves of books and leapt over a table as she came into view. His protective instincts got to her just in time to catch her. "What's going on?" Theo said, his volume just bellow a yell. "Is she breathing?" Elliot nodded as he picked her up. "Good. Let's just get her back, we'll have the pack doctor examine her as well." As they were leaving, Bishop saw the keys dangling from the woman's waist. In his own weird thinking he locked the library up behind him. He grinned to himself before following the others, proud of himself for being "helpful". *** Selene just barely got herself to work. The walk was brutal and the pain she felt didn't seem to pass like she was hoping. As she entered the library Matthew rushed from behind the desk to her. "Selene are you okay? Where have you been?" He asked as he started to take her things from her. "Have you been sick? Should you even be here?" She gave him the most confused look as he threw a million questions at her. "What are you talking about? I'm not even late." Selene forced herself to sound fine, even though every word made her want to cry. He gave her the most dumbfounded look before replying. "Selene, you missed the last three days of work. It's Saturday." These words hit Selene like a bag of bricks. What did he mean it had been three days, did she really sleep for that long? "Are you sure?" She asked absent-mindedly. Before he could answer she looked down at her phone for the first time since she woke up. "Oh. Uh yeah I had a fever two days ago, I must have over slept." She partially lied. Yeah she slept, but it wasn't just a simple fever that put her out. She didn't need Matthew to worry about her, so she kept the excruciating pain she experienced out of the excuse. "I'm sorry. I must have forgotten to call yall. I'll be fine. Since you had to make up for me, why don't you go home early. It won't be busy tonight, and you deserve the break." She grabbed her things back from him and started to walk behind the desk. "Are you sure?" He asked concerned. "Are you alright?" He wanted to leave for a date he managed to get, but wasn't going to leave her high and dry. He'd honestly drop this date, or any date for that matter, if she just asked him. "I'm fine, Matthew." She lied. "I'm just going to catch up on the organizing. I'll see you next week." Shooing him away. Maybe if she worked long enough, she'd forget she was in pain, or maybe it would finally go away. Matthew left after some hesitation. Selene then got to work. The library was dead, which made her job a lot easier. She took her time organizing the books, using the cart to hold herself up. The pain had numbed out for the most part but was still painful nonetheless. It was when that same smell from the other night returned that so did the pain tenfold. Selene fell to her knees as her whole body seemed to seize up. Everything started to spin just before she collapsed. *** Brownish amber eyes stared into Selenes with desire. The man behind the eyes leaned in with a deep kiss, his tongue parting her lips with his. When he drew back, a grin formed. He started to kiss down her body until he reached what he was looking for. Selene went to moan, but a beep escaped her mouth instead. Selene woke up to a monitor beeping. As she lifted her hand to rub her face, she noticed some wires attached. Freaking out a bit, she tried to sit up, but a man gently held her down. A wave of calm over took her emotions, his touch seeming to be the source. "Hey, you're in the hospital. We found you passed out in the library." A man's voice started to talk. She glanced over at the man holding her down. "I'm going to let you go now. Are you okay?" He continued on as he slowly moved away from her before placing her bed into a sitting up position. "There you are." He was gorgeous. He had stunning forest green eyes, light brown almost redish shaggy hair, and his complexion was a beautiful dark tan. If Selene was standing, she'd probably feel her knees go week from the sight of him. A warm smile moved over his lips. "How long have I been out?" Selene asked, her voice hoarse and groggy. "Just a few hours. It's early morning right now." "A few hours? More like the whole night." Another voice piped up. Another man entered the room, a grin on his face. "Hi, I'm Bishop, and this is Elliot." The one who spoke had amber colored eyes and short black hair. He looked eerily similar to the man she had just been dreaming about, but his differences made his looks more like a relative rather than the actual man. "Selene." She replied, talking was getting easier. "Well, Selene, if you don't mind just holding tight, I'm going to go get the boss." Bishop said as he left out the door again. Selene gave an inquisitive look. "I'm so confused. You said you found me passed out in the library. Why are you still here? And is that guy a nurse? Is he getting the doctor, his boss?" Elliot chuckled at all the questions she was throwing at him. "Yes. Because I'm making sure you are okay. No, he'd make a terrible nurse. Our boss is not a doctor, but I will get one soon to make sure you are fine for discharge." He answered each questions in order. "We have afew --" He pause, trying to find the right words. "-odd questions for you." Just as he finished, a familiar scent filled the air. A sense of panic started to settle in as Selene realized that scent had meant pain the past few times she's experienced it. Elliot noticed and grabbed her hand. His calming aura seemed to settle her. Just then, three men entered the room. Bishop was one of them. One was a slightly shorter man with blonde hair, brown eyes, and an olive complexion. The last man to enter took Selenes breath away. He was the man she saw on the street that night, and the one she was just dreaming about. A growl suddenly came from the man with the brownish amber eyes, or so she thought. Maybe she suffered a concussion when she fell. She noticed Elliot let go of her hand while giving a small glare back to the man whoever growled. "About time you woke up." His words were harsh, but they still felt like velvet to her. "Theo, it's not like she purposefully passed out." An elderly woman followed not far behind the men. She was short and yet still tall. Her hair was a brilliantly bright white and flowed behind her like a veil. You could tell she was old, but her actual age was elusive. "Hello dear. I'm Elder Edith. Welcome to the territory of the Blood Moon." She extended her arms and bowed her head ever so slightly. "Now, let's get down to business."
