It had taken nearly two hours for Thea and Zach to arrive at the hospital instead of one, as she had said. She was worried about what her parents would say as they hurried to Chris’ room. She pushed the door open a little and peeked inside. Roxy and Reginald looked at her, and they were clearly unhappy.
“I’m sorry. I have no excuse,” Thea said as she went in, followed closely by Zach.
Reginald shook his head as he looked at his daughter and her boyfriend. Both were freshly showered, and their hair was still wet. It was not difficult to understand why Thea was later than she had said she would be.
“No excuse, but I think we all know why,” Roxy said. “You got lucky because they are having trouble setting your brother’s wrist. That means he is not here to ask why you are late.”
