Chris set his jaw as he shook his head. He glared at the doctor before he shook his head at his mother and stormed out of the room. Zach stood and hurried after the boy.

Roxy was seething as she looked daggers at the doctor. “I understand the full implications of my husband’s injuries. I understand they are almost certainly unsurvivable, but you do not even tell a child their parent will die in the manner you just did. If I ever hear that you have, you are the one who will need to be treated in this emergency room. Do you understand me?”
