Part One
It all began in 1996 when Chris Blincs lost his father. He was sent out of the house by his brother, who wanted to travel to the city. Not knowing where to go, he stayed on the streets the whole day without anything to eat. Luckily for him, his uncle sent for him and took him in. They stayed for over sixteen years and his uncle's wife made life very miserable for him. Chris, a kind and good-looking young guy, had no friends and spent his lonely life trying to satisfy the wishes of his aunt.He would go to school, luckily for him, and when he came back he followed his aunt to the farm at times without eating to carry loads from the farm to the house. He would sit at a corner of the roadside and weep, because his mother had abandoned him after the death of his father. He would wish to see his mother and that she could just come and give him a hug and tell him she loved him, but unfortunately for him, that had never happened since she died two years after his father died. Things worsened when Chris reached form 4. On that,,,,,, faithful day when he went to school to read, he met a schoolmate who asked to join him and they entered into a class to read and this guy picked a phone someone had forgotten in the locker of a bench. After a while, Chris went out to relieve himself and on coming back he met this guy being beaten and called a thief. He pleaded on behalf of this guy and took the blame on himself . The following day, his causin, child to his uncle went and asked her friends to catch Chris and beat him, what they did. Chris was given a public beating and his aunt recommended that he be sent away from the house. On pressure from his wife, Mr. Fon had to ask Chris to leave the house and move to his father's place, promising him he would still continue taking care of him. Chris parked his few dresses and left the house. He didn't go to his father's house as his uncle had instructed him. He decided to leave the village and move to the city. The problem was he had no money to travel, so he had to travel by foot. At about midnight, he met someone on the road who gave him 250frs CFA to pay a taxi to the next town. The night was so dark that he could not see the face of the person. The man continued on his road and disappeared in the dark night. Chris was so scared because this incident happened beside a graveyard. He quickly hurried away from the area. He couldn't take a taxi because he was hoping to eat something with the money the following day. Chris reached a nearby market but it was already closed with dogs roaming the area. He tried to find a place to spend the rest of the night but he was so scared that after sleeping just for about thirty minutes, he woke up and continued on his road. He had never been out at this time of the night and he didn't know where he was. He just kept his faith in God and believed God was with him guiding him. Fortunately for him, he reached a police checkpoint where he met a woman's shop still open with people drinking palmwine and others eating puff puff and beans. He entered the shop and sat down. One of the men asked him what he was still doing outside at that time of the night. He explained his story and the man bought him something to eat and proposed to take him to his place so he can spend the rest of the night . This man proposed to pay for his transport for him to go back to his uncle's house, but when the man left the house in the morning, Chris woke up and left before he came back. He had no intension of going back to the village. With 250frs CFA in his pockets, he didn't know what he could buy and eat, so he bought sugar cane for 100frs CFA. He continued his adventure and when it was night fall again he slept on the road side and a dog came and spend the night with him, even so he could not have a long sleep because he knew his life was in danger with the cars passing. He woke and continued his way. He later saw a spoiled car that was packed by the road and entered the car to sleep. It was so dusty but tired as he was he had no choice but to sleep in the dust. He was waken by the cry of a Muslim who was performing a regular prayer session. He continued his journey and lost his way because he was walking at night and went the wrong way. His instincts told him he was not on track, so he decided to ask a passer-by and it was confirmed to him that he had lost track . The man proposed taking him to a driver who was to travel to Douala the following day. Douala was the best choice since he had stepbrothers and other family members there, so he accepted the proposal and followed the man. The driver questioned him and he explained everything and he accepted to take him to Douala the following day. He was offered water to bathe and given food to eat. After two days of hunger, he finally had something to eat, that man was God sent, he exclaimed in his thoughts. At night Chris reflected about his life, how his world just crumbled with the blink of an eye, he had dropped out of school, he wondered if he would ever achieve his goals, the objectives he had set for himself. While thinking about this, he fell asleep. to be continued
