Chioma did not know all of this, she was accompanied by Emeka in the farm, she felt happy, Emeka said that he has a surprise for her tomorrow in their secret spot, she couldn't wait to see it .

Emeka has decided to tell her his identity and proposed marriage to her family, he thinks that it is time to marry her, the past two months has been the happiest time of his life, ever since he lost his parent when he was twelve, he has to face the responsibility of the village with his own hand, many people has been killed because they were planning to rebel and take is throne, which he will not allow, this is the tears and sweats of his parent he could not allow to fall into anybody hand. Since this people could not fight him direct they decided to used marriage to pressure him,the came up with conditions that if he did not get married before the day of his coronation, they will crown the most suitable person as the King, so he came up with this idea to look for a bride.And he found her.

After they finished harvesting the corn and they make an appointment for the next day, Chioma went home.

“ prince, there was a lady looking at you and miss strangely just now, I wanted to tell you but was afraid to disturb you guys ” .

Ayo who was asked by Emeka to stay outside the farm report, when he was sitting on the top of the tree outside the farm, he saw Chisom but he did not know her peeping at Emeka and Chioma, he wanted to report immediately but when he saw the happy atmosphere, he decided not to, it is not important anyway.

When Emeka heard this , he thought that maybe Chisom was looking for trouble, he stood up and quickly follow the direction Chioma went, Ayo ran after him .

When Chioma got home, she saw her step mother and sisters outside the house holding a bunch of broom in their hands, Chioma is very familiar with this scene but she did not know what she did wrong this time, she tried to remember what she did wrong or forgot to do today but came up with nothing.

“ see who knows the road back to the house , where did you think you are coming from?” Rosemary asked, she was lay her back on the wall.

“ mother, I told you today that I will be going to the farm to harvest the corn there ”. Chioma said, she put down the basket of corn that she was carrying as If showing evidence. she was nervous she did not know if her step mother have found out about her and Emeka, although it is okay to date a boy in her age, her step mother will never allow her, she did not want her to get married, she want her to be her maid till she died.

“ oh you went to the farm or should I say that you are busy sleeping around with men in the village, you are now dating a unless cripple beggar, tell if that is the farm I ask you to go ?” Rosemary said.

Chioma heart skip a beat, she knew that it will be the end of her today but she still defend Emeka and herself.

“ mother I did not sleep with men and Emeka is not unless, I love him ”.

All through she and Emeka dating for a month plus, they have not even kiss talk less of having s*x, and she could not stand her mother insulting him.

“ How dare you, you now have the nerve” her step mother Rosemary use the broom to beat her and her step sisters joins.

She did not know why they hate her so much mostly her stepsisters, they used to be close when her father was still alive but now all through they did not say much, they will always join her stepmother to beat her.

What Chioma did not know is that her stepsisters were always jealous of her look even when her father was alive, they could not do anything to her then, she have not reach marriageable age when suitors came knocking on her door but they have not have any suitors because of their bad behaviours.

Chisom is know to be the village gossiper in such a young age and always got into fight with the villagers everyday, while Titi was once impregnated by a farmer who has wife and children of her age, she was beaten by the farmer's wife and children every day, this lead to miscarriage. this ruin her image in the village, she is always caught sleeping with men in the village, no man wants to marry any of them.
