It wasn't long before Braiden and I were packed up and on our way to England. We were able to finish off the last couple days of our vacation, our parents and the council both agreed that the rest would be good for us, as they knew this might be our toughest assignment yet. The council had secured us a private plane, and after greeting the pilot and getting settled in our seats we were taking off. Braiden grabbed my hand and gave me a light kiss on the temple, I squeezed his hand in return.
Storm started prancing in my head as we took off, she normally wasn't an anxious and it was very uncharacteristic of her.
"What's up Stormy?" I asked her.
"I don't know, I just feel like this trip is going to change our lives forever." She replied.
"In a good way, or a bad way?" I inquired.
"I'm not sure yet. Time will tell." She yawned, "Nap time."
In a instance she was passed out, I lightly chuckled. For such a strong and powerful wolf she loved her sleep. Briaden glanced at me and raised an eyebrow in question.
"Stormy, she was anxious, and then passed out for a nap." I explained to him and repeated what Storm had told me.
"Sounds like we should also get some shut eye, it's going to be a long flight." Braiden responded. "We'll need to be well rested when we get there."
I nodded and snuggled into Braiden, he lifted his arm and pulled me closer so I could use his chest as my pillow, Briaden always made me feel safe and was my favorite pillow.
A few hours later I was woken up by Braiden, and the smell of food, the flight attendant was bringing us some supper. I felt Storm stir and she started prancing again. I knew this time it wasn't an anxious prance it was her food prance, she sure did love her meals. The flight attendant handed us our trays that contained chicken, prime rib, mashed potatoes, pasta salad, garlic bread and some gravy. It smelt delicious and I could feel my mouth water. Braiden and I began to dig in, it wasn't the most satisfying meal, I mean it was airplane food, but it wasn't the worst. We quickly cleared our plates and the flight attendant brought around some dessert, it was a dark chocolate cake, with butter cream frosting and ice cream. I moaned lightly as I took a bite, the cake was surprisingly delicious. It didn't take long for me to clean my plate and start eyeing up Braiden's plate, he chuckled lightly. He knew that I was a big fan of sweets and he took one more bite before he passed me his plate. I grinned at him.
"You're the best, big brother ever."
"You don't have to tell me." he winked at me, causing me to laugh.
I quickly finished off the rest of his cake, after the flight attendant had cleaned up our trays I pulled out the file that the council had provided us for the newest mission. When we landed we were going to be staying in a hotel in a small town about twenty minutes outside of the Summer Storm Pack, we would rest for the night but the next day we'd travel to meet with Alpha Devon Storm, he was the one who had contacted the council. According to his file he was 27, unmated, he had been Alpha for 7 years, he first started reported missing women and children and increased rogue attacks about 6 months ago, but there was no hard evidence. It wasn't until the last Alpha wide meeting where a few other Alpha's had reported the same issue that the council decided it was time to call me in. Some of the smaller packs hadn't attended the mandatory meeting, stating that they couldn't leave their packs, which was pretty shady as it was very uncommon. A few of them had also reported higher numbers in their packs at the last concensous, this was normally a great thing, everyone liked it when packs could grow bigger as it meant more independence but these few packs couldn't account for where the new members came from and when asked to introduce them they became rather defensive about it. The whole thing was rather odd.
"What do you know about Alpha Devon?" I asked Braiden.
His face lit up at my question "He was one of my best friends when I did my training in England, I can't wait to see my old friend, I'm just disappointed it's under these circumstances."
I nodded, "hopefully we'll be able to solve this issue quickly and you can spend some time catching up." I replied.
Braiden nodded before glancing over at me, "What's your disguise?" he asked.
"Do you trust this Alpha?" I asked.
Braiden nodded, "With my life."
"Then we go in as we are. He already knows you, and if he's trustworthy, it's better for him to meet the real me. Besides, Storm is telling me that I should wait a bit before the disguises come out".
"Storm has never steered us wrong." Braiden agreed.
It was true, Storm was a huge part of our success, she was a gift from the Moon Goddess after all and she was smart as a whip and helped me read people. She was often the brains behind my disguises. After my first mission, I was struggling to come up with my next identity and she had sighed and helped me out. She also chose Braiden's disguises, making him good looking enough to get answers from some of the female pack members, but not so good looking that he would be chased too hard.
A short while later, we finally landed in England. It was raining lightly by the time we arrived at our hotel. Both Braiden and I took showers and got cleaned up before climbing into bed to get some much needed rest. Tomorrow was go time.
