At the Magic School

After receiving a scolding from her sister, Ernest immediately heads to the bath. The blood of the goblins, ghouls, and cyclops reeks of smell. He wanted to remove it as quickly as possible. Refreshed from bathing, he went to his bedroom and called it a day. About the reward he had received from finishing the instance dungeon, he decided to open it for tomorrow. … “Ahh.” The feeling of waking up was the worst. After all, when you wake up to find your sister passionately dancing to a samba rhythm while stepping all over your stomach or chest or head, other than a special group of people, anyone would be unhappy. September 19th, Wednesday. Yesterday was a hell of a day for him. Receiving a mysterious power, getting to fight with monsters in another dimension, unexplained power-up. He had experienced the most mysterious day of his life. While rubbing his bleary eyes. Ernest declared in a lowered voice: “Ahh. Sophia. My cute little sister.” “Ohhhhh?!” Only then she finally noticed that Ernest was awake. The little sister with a foot on Ernest’s stomach — Sophia, turned her head while adjusting her middle school uniform. Her long hair swayed, as she gazed at Ernest through her round acorn-like blue eyes. Incidentally, even though she was caught stepping on someone early in the morning, she didn’t seem to be secretly cursing, “Damn it!” or “I’m caught!”. If anything, it seemed that she was honestly happy that Ernest had woken up. Oh, and from Ernest’s position, there was a stunning view of her underpants. It wasn’t as if it was just showing a glimpse. Even shamelessness has its limits. “What is it? My cute brother!” Sophia answered, without even a sign of moving her foot. In case you were wondering, Ernest was not that cute. “Well, get off me. It’s heavy.” Sophia gave an exaggerated nod and leaped from the bed. Ernest's stomach was left with an impact like a blow. “Ghfu.” He took some damage from that. “Ahahahaha, gfhu! Ahahahaha!” “...” Ernest silently pulled the blanket over his head. “Agh! Hey~! Why are you sleeping again?! We have parent-student orientation later. Hey!” Sophia raised her voice, slowly shaking Ernest. “Just another five minutes...The orientation is at 8 so why are you hurrying?” “No way! Wake up already!” After sitting up and grimacing at the dizziness resulting from shaking his still dazed head, Ernest opened his mouth with a groan. “R-Run away…” “Eh?” “Actually, I’ve been infected with the ‘If I don’t sleep for another five minutes. I’ll tickle my sister with a deadly virus.’ aka. The T-virus…” “Wh-what?” Sophia was surprised as someone who’d found a hidden message from aliens. “Run away...while I can still control myself…” “B-But, what will you do!?” “Don’t worry about me...as long as you’re safe…” “No way! Brother!” “Gaaaah!” “Kyaaaaaaa!” Ernest blew the blanket away, excitedly moving his two hands and roaring, as Sophia ran away with a dreadful scream. Ernest sighs. Exhaling, he covered himself with the blanket again. Looking at the time, it was still before six. “What a time to wake someone at?” Grumbling, he suddenly recalled something. As his half-asleep brain slowly woke up, last night's memories surfaced. The contract of the caretaker hired by their parents six years ago expired two days ago. Because of that, Ernest was now left in charge of the kitchen, and so Ernest, who was bad at waking up, asked Sophia to help wake him. “Ah…” Troubled that she might’ve done something bad, he quickly got out of bed. Holding down his bed hair and suppressing a yawn, Ernest plodded out of the room. “Hmm?” A slightly different view than usual greeted him. The wooden table that was in the middle of the living room was on its side as if it had become a barricade. Behind it, a head with a ponytail was quivering slightly. “...” Silencing his footsteps, Ernest approached the side of the table. Sure enough, Sophia was sitting there hugging her knees and trembling. “Graaaaah!” “Kyaa!! Kyaaaaaaa!” As Ernest grabbed her by the shoulders, Sophia let out a despairing scream as her limbs went limp. “Calm down, calm down! I’m my usual self.” “Gyaaaa! Gyaaa...ah? Bro bro brother?” “Yep, that’s right.” “You...you’re not scary anymore?” “It’s alright now. I’m Shophia’s brother.” “Oh, ohhhh.” As Ernest talked to her in baby talk, Sophia’s tightened face slowly relaxed. It was as if she was a wild fox squirrel that had opened its heart. “Sorry, sorry. I’ll go to make breakfast right away.” After letting go of Sophia’s hand and standing up. Ernest put the table back where it belonged and went into the kitchen. He went to the kitchen and fetched some eggs from their pantry room, he heard the sound of the magic broadcasting system coming from behind him. It seems that Sophia had calmed down and had turned on MTV. Come to think of it, it seems Sophia has a daily routine to eat while checking out horoscopes or fortune-telling corners. Well, most of the fortune-teller corners usually come at the end of the main programs and are obviously just speculations. After surfing through all of the programs, Sophia started to watch what seemed to be a boring news program. “—Yesterday, we’ve received a report from the adventurer’s guild— during the dungeon raid, eight people were found dead at the occurrence of the double dungeon —” “Huh?” Overhearing the contents of the useless news program that usually could only serve as BGM, Ernest raised an eyebrow. The reason was simple. From the announcer’s clear voice, it was his team member from the dungeon raid. He listened to the news to hear more. He's expecting that he would be also highlighted as a survivor in the crisis, but after two minutes of talking, he hadn’t heard his name. ‘What is it? Did those Red Dragons cover my identity?’ “Hmm. Brother, that’s why raiding is dangerous, it’s a good thing that no one would take you as their party member.” “Cruel…” Ernest felt as if he had been struck by a dagger. Leaning over the counter, he narrowed his vision and stared at the MTV. Unfortunately, the news didn’t go deeper than that. Is it because they are only D-Class adventurers? While cooking breakfast, Ernest opened his menu and headed to the inventory tab. Before getting transported back, he received a message wherein rewards will be transferred to his inventory. And those rewards were indeed in his inventory. Ernest opened the chest. He observed Sophia, seeing if she could see the floating images in front of him. But she doesn’t. [Congratulations! You received 1,000 gold coins.] [Congratulations! You received 1x instance dungeon key.] [Congratulations: You received 1,000 experience points.] [Your level has risen to 16.] [You have 5 unused status points.] Ernest invested the new points to his strength and checked his stats. [User: Ernest Teucher. He also finished preparing the breakfast. “Sophia, come here. Breakfast is ready!” “Okay!” “Delicious!” “I’m a great cook right?” “Wow, I can feel the wind blowing me.” After eating their breakfast, Ernest prepared himself as he donned his new outfit from the system. A formal outfit which is now his armor. Though it doesn’t look like armor. “Brother you look handsome in that!” Praised Sophia, to which Ernest replied with a smile. He’s accustomed to his sister’s praise. Although she exaggerates it sometimes. “Seems like we’re ready,” Ernest said, looking at her sister who was wearing a school uniform. “Yes, I’m ready,” Sophia said, carrying her bag. Outside, they walked for about two minutes to get to the main street. Most carriage can be found there and since Ernest has some money to spare, and wants to make Sophia special on this day, he didn’t hesitate to hail a coachman. As the horse-drawn carriage approached their location, Ernest felt a pain in his side. “Brother...I thought we were saving money? Why did you hail a coachman?” Ernest chuckled, “Well I have some bonus doing adventuring works. So I figured if we can ride a coachman together.” “Okay, but only this once brother!” “Okay.” … Arriving at one of the prestigious schools in the Kingdom. Ernest and Sophia stepped out of the taxi. Entering the school, Sophia showed their appointment letter for parents and student orientation. Normally, ordinary people like Ernest wouldn’t be able to pay the tuition fee of this school. But thanks to Sophia’s talent and skills, she was offered a one-year scholarship. However, next week will be her second year, and the money he saved is not enough to cover up the fee. “I should get more quests soon…” Walking in the hallway filled with privileged students. He accidentally bumped into someone. “Hey watch where you’re going,” Ernest said. The two men wearing a school uniform turned around and scanned Ernest. “A commoner? Who do you think you are huh? Do you want to get your ass kicked?” Ernest sighed inwardly, this privileged good-for-nothing nobles. Although Ernest’s family is noble, they are only a baronet. Which is the lowest-ranked. Social hierarchy is a pain in the ass. “Brother...don’t…” Sophia stepped in, “I’m sorry, my brother didn’t see you.” Sophia lowered her head with an apologetic expression. Ernest hates this type of thing. Where Sophia is always apologizing even though the other parties are the ones who made a mistake. But Ernest realized his position here. If he were to create a scene here. It might affect the life of her sister here. So Ernest bowed his head and apologized. But their eyes weren’t fixed to him but to Sophia. Her beautiful features charmed them. Their eyes filled with lust… One of them extended his hand, Ernest watched that hand as it gets nearer and nearer to Sophia’s head. “You have a beautiful girl here...I’ll forgive you if you give us one day with that lady? What do you think?... Argh...It hurts it hurts! Arghhhhh.” Ernest couldn’t control it anymore. It was definitely out of line. By grabbing his hand, Ernest crushed his hands little by little. This scene attracted the people around them. “How dare you speak of things like that in front of me? Do you want to die?” “Hoy hoy! Let him go!” Said the other man. But Ernest ignored him. “You scum! How dare you...I will kill you!” Hollered the man whose hands were about to crush. Then, a flame blaze on his hands. It was magic. “I will kill you!” Threatened the man. “I won’t let you.” Ernest ultimately crushed his hands and threw him in the ceiling. His body fell down to the ground, unconscious. “What happened here!” Shouted the guards who responded to the scene. Ernest raised his hand. “You’re coming with us.” Said the guard and immediately grabbed him. Ernest glanced at Sophia's face...The moment he saw it, his heart shattered. There was a tear on her face. ‘Did I just make her cry?’ Seeing Sophia’s figure getting smaller and smaller, Ernest regretted his action.
