The escape I

I looked at Leo marching coldly towards me, he shot me an icy glare. I felt so edgy by his intense gaze I felt he wanted to hurt me, and I tried to step backward to escape from him.

“what are you trying to do?”

Oh no! He caught me.

His voice was so harsh like a blast of thunder, it unnerved me and I quickly froze, remaining at the same spot.

He threw at me a hamburger wrapped in a brown paper bag, and I hungrily shoved the burger into my mouth, munching it so fast till it filled my stomach.

Leo noticed I was looking faint, and he felt I was thirsty, “want some water?”

I nodded.

“not happening.” he shook his head.

“please Leo enough of this torture. Just stop!’

“it will only end once you put all of your assets under my name. All of your properties are worth 10.10 billion, so I want it all.”

“is that why you married me?” I felt a strike of pain in my chest feeling so betrayed, “you married me for my wealth only?” bitter tears escaped my eyes soaking my face.

Reflecting back to our wedding one year ago, everything hurt even more, I felt so shattered inside reflecting Leo’s promises of love to me at the altar; to love me unconditionally for better or for worse. I felt as if my chest was going to explode of the pain that his promises were actually never true but a sham.

“you want me dead? Why don't you just kill me?” I screamed at him in frustration and rage, “I'm already dead inside suffocated by your deceits, and tricks.”

“just shut up!” he barked at my face, “you had better give me all your wealth else, I'm gonna torture you till you slowly die.”

“psycho.” I sneered at him and he flared by my words and smacked me across my face with his strong first, “I told you to shut up!” I instantly lose my balance, and collapsed at the floor.

Help me..help me… I was hollering in my mind for Aaryan. I wished he could hear me, or pick me off the floor but I was just hopeless, and pathetic.

It was 3:45am. I felt a ray of hope I will finally be free from being cooped up in my room, from being my husband’s captive. Leo was already fast asleep in a sofa, and I specked the keys to the chains on my legs and hands sticking out in his jacket.

I reached towards it, and dragged it. I quickly unlocked the chains, and they slipped off me and dropped noisily on the floor, the noise awoke Leo.

He turned and looked at me, he saw both my hands, and feet are loose and shivers ran down my spine looking at him staring at me. Oh s**t! How am I gonna escape now? I panicked in my mind, and my hands were fidgeting at my sides.

He was getting off the sofa, and before he could try to approach me, and grab me I quickly fled out of the room.

“Caitlyn!” he hollered my name so loud, I sensed the rage in his voice and I ran swifter through the hall feeling so terrified.

“get back here!”

He ran out of the room, and stepped into the hallway and caught a glimpse of me scurrying down the stairs. Anger thrummed through his veins, and he squeezed his fists tightly while looking at me, “you b***h!” he gritted his teeth.

It was raining cats and dogs, I listened to the wind screaming noisily like a ferocious beast nevertheless, I was not unnerved to flee outside in the harsh cold, I just wanted desperately to escape, to be very far away from Leo at that moment.

I heard his voice screaming out my name so loudly and I felt so tensed he’d catch me. The thought of him hurting me if he does, made me weep, and I couldn't halt running though my feet was starting to ache. The mansion was so vast like a ranch, I couldn't go out easily.

The halls seemed to stretch endlessly before me, the sound of Leo’s heavy footfalls reverberated through the mansion. His bellowing voice echoed through the halls, the anger and desperation in his tone was sending a shiver down my spine.

“no….Leo, “ I howled, my voice shaking, “I won't stay here with you. Let me go.”

“you ain't escaping from me Lynn.” he thundered, and I gasped horrified by his words. I could feel his presence like a malevolent specter at my back, his very aura a menacing force that pushed me to run faster, to push myself beyond my limits.

Finally, I reached the exit of the mansion. I paused for a few minutes to catch my breath, and rest a little a bit. When I opened my eyes, I almost froze, and was paralysed with fear staring at Leo in front of me. He found me!

Tears streamed down my face, and my hands were shivering unsteadily, non-stop at my sides like they’d fall out of my wrists. “maybe he was right, “ I looked so tensed as if staring at a vampire in front of me, “I can't get away…” I sighed weakly.

“come here.” he grabbed me tightly by my arms, and was forcibly trying to pull me inside the hall. I was struggling, and a wave of boldness crashed over me, I punched him in his face with the heel of my shoes and shoved him to the floor. He wasn't expecting the ambush, he fell down instantly at the floor by my feet.

I heaved a sigh of relief I am free, I veered from him to flee, and he grasped my left foot pulling me back rendering me unable to move. Rage flooded my veins, I wasn't thinking, I did not realise when I kicked him in the face with the heel in my foot until I heard him moaning.

I did not hesitate fleeing seeing him weak, and down on the floor. I dashed outside the mansion like a bird escaping out of a cage.
