Across her past

                                                                                        6 years ago          As I walk up to this group home only one thing is on my mind, who are my parent and why did they abandon me ? Okay 2 things. When I woke up at the park I was alone with a bookbag and nothing else. I checked inside and it contained a note that told me my name was  Alexis, I was twelve years old, and the word sorry. There was also a Greek mythology book and a dictionary. Well this should be fun. When I get inside there is only one person there. He introduced himself as Chuck the owner and director of the group home called family haven. He seems nice enough. He went over the rules and regulations of this place. explained the tier paced rewards, chores and  punishment system, and then showed me to my room. Once I was settled in ( took all of 5 minutes) he came back and explained that this was a short stay sanctuary and my stay would not exceed 90 days. I would only be here long enough for them to locate my family. Chuck stayed with me a while and made sure all my questions were answered. He gave me a tour of the house and the grounds while explaining that this was an  all inclusive safehouse for all species. He wanted to make sure I knew so that I wouldn't be caught off guard. I told him I thought that  I had only interacted with other humans so this would be a new experience. He said that I wasn't required to interact with anyone I was uncomfortable with but that respect was mandatory. He also let me know that there was an all human group home if I found that I couldn't deal with the intermingling.         The year went by pretty uneventful. I left Family Haven nine months ago now. I was sent to a foster family after I left there. Chuck recommended them. It didn't last very long. They were abusive to say the least. They were more interested in the money for keeping kids. The school I was sent to had to intervene when I was sent to school with a very large bruise over half my face. I was moved to another mixed group home. So far it's been fine. We did manage to track down my birthdate which is coming up soon. The big 13. I am so excited ! The director A fiery lady named Ms. Mouse has been planning a small party for me. I don't remember ever having one so this is awesome.             My birthday was a complete disaster. I'm pretty sure I know why my parents abandoned me now. There is something wrong with me. I woke up this morning and my eyes were just changed. They had always been different but now. My left eye is blue and my right eye is grey or at least they were until this morning. I woke up went shower and staring at me in the mirror were two swirling orbs. Just colors mixing and swirling around like it's normal. To say I freaked out is an understatement. I didn't  know what to do so I just sat in the shower and cried. Why me? Why today of all days? Why hadn't anyone warned me this would happen? Thank the heavens I just got contacts. I looked at my puffy eyes in the mirror. I washed my face put cold water on my eyes to soothe them then put the contacts in. I failed my spanish test and my fae lore notes flew away.  When I got back I forgot all about the party and when I went to the backyard to get some air and alone time everyone was out there and scared me so bad I burst into tears and ran inside. Ms. Mouse came to console me and ask if I was okay and i broke down and told her everything that happened today minus the eyes. I wasn't quite ready to share that yet. She calmed me down enough to get me outside to the party just in time for a freak thunderstorm that ruined everything. The decorations gone, food gone, music, cheer, games everything ruined. So much for my celebration.                                                                  3 years ago           I looked back once more at the building I have called home for the last three years before disappearing into the night. This has been a really Horrid week. First I sick for 3 days straight. Fever, chills, muscle pains, migraines that would not stop  , and worst of all hearing voices and hallucinations. The fourth day I lost my voice. Day five my vision and hearing dulled. Day six an all over body rash. Then today everything just stopped. No symptoms nothing, it was as if nothing had been going on. Everyone thought I was faking. It had gotten so bad that I was being shunned. The last straw was when they destroyed all my things. I had worked so hard over the last 3 years to acquire that stuff. I couldn't stay there anymore. I had to run. I had to get out of there. I had nowhere to go I found my files earlier today. It had abandoned as my status. They had found my parents 2 years back, they just didn't want me. I wanted to know why so I took the files with me. I'm not sure how i'll make it but where there's a will there's a way. Ms. Mouse said that to me all the time and I was gonna use it now. I turned and quietly said my last good byes as I slipped into the night.
