I was astonished.
I almost shot straight up before managing to just stop myself. “Are you serious?”
“Of course, but I have a few conditions,” Layla said seriously.
“Miss, are you crazy?” Sandi, who was at the side, almost went mad when Layla agreed to the marriage.
“So many rich businessmen and heirs all over the world have been courting you, yet you’re choosing to marry a penniless loser?”
“Sandi, please step out for a while. I’d like to chat with Mr. Lang about what will happen next.”
“But…”
“Step out!!!” Layla said forcefully.
Sandi was not willing to do so but did not go against Layla’s wishes in the end. She furiously glared at me and left.
I pinched myself viciously on the thigh. It really hurt.
After confirming this was not all a dream, I looked at Layla in disbelief. “You could reject me. Why would you agree to this?”
“Even though you don’t know Vincent, he was the one who arranged this blind date. I think he must have a special reason.”
“So you’re agreeing to this marriage because of this Vincent person? Is he a very important person to you?”
“He is my benefactor.”
“Is that so?”
“The situation goes back to last month. My mother was cheated by someone and ended up signing me into a contract for ten films. These ten films were all terrible productions. If I had gotten involved, it would have spelled the end of my entertainment career,” Layla said dejectedly.
“You could have breached the contract.”
“If I had breached the contract, I would need to pay compensation of five billion. I don’t have that kind of money. Just when I was left with nowhere else to turn, Old Mr. Quinn appeared. He helped me take care of everything with only one condition, which was to go on a blind date with you.”
Layla gave me a thoughtful look after saying this.
“Urm… I really don’t know any Vincent Quinn.” I continued my pretense.
“Maybe you really aren’t aware of what’s going on, but Old Mr. Quinn must have his reasons for arranging this, which is why even if it’s for the sake of repaying this debt, I’m still willing to marry you. Of course, for this to happen, you have to first agree to my conditions.”
“Go on and tell me what your conditions are.”
Even though I looked calm, I was actually bursting with happiness right now.
The dream girl of every man in the country was about to become my wife.
Who would believe me if I said this out loud?!
“I have five conditions. Number one, you need to take my surname.”
“No problem.” I agreed without thinking twice.
I was an orphan and had no qualms about taking her surname.
“Number two, I will announce my marriage to the public, but I will not reveal your identity. As for you, you’re not allowed to tell anyone about us.”
“That won’t be a problem. It’s just a secret marriage.”
“Number three, you’re not allowed to have any unscrupulous thoughts or desire for me. You’re not allowed into my room without my permission, and you’re not allowed to touch me or be intimate with me.”
“About that…”
“You have to agree to that. Otherwise, everything is off the table,” Layla said with extreme seriousness.
“Alright.”
I might have agreed verbally, but I was not really happy about it.
This had to be a joke.
The reason I was marrying her was to have children.
That was a request by the board of directors.
How was I supposed to have children if I could not touch her?
A hot and heavy sensation overcame me at the thought of it.
The woman in front of me was an international superstar. She was the idol of hundreds of millions of young men and women, and I was supposed to make love to her and get her pregnant with my child?
I wondered what she sounded like in bed. Would her moans be as euphoric and beautiful as her singing?
“What are you thinking about? Answer me.”
She had probably asked because of the slightly wretched smile on my face. Layla immediately noticed something was not right with me.
“I agree, alright? I agree to it. What’s the fourth condition?”
“Number four, you need to make sure your phone is turned on 24 hours a day, and you must come to me immediately if I call for you. Also, you’re not allowed to interfere with my life.”
“Sure, no problem. What’s the fifth condition? Just tell me now.”
“I haven’t thought about what the fifth condition will be yet. I’ll tell you once I think of something. Tell me, do you agree with the first four conditions?”
“Yes, it’s no problem for me.”
All four of her conditions would probably be difficult for a rich man to accept.
However, they were nothing to me!
We would get married first, and I would see what would happen next.
Once we were married, I would have the opportunity to gradually change her heart and later plant my flag on her!
“You’re agreeing to all of this without thinking twice?” Layla was clearly surprised.
“Of course. You’re a superstar, and there’s no reason for me to hesitate when a good thing like this is happening to me. To put it simply, we’ll be in a contract marriage. We’ll leave our separate lives and get together only when necessary to put up a show for the public.”
“Yes, it’ll be more or less like that. Can you accept that?”
“I have no problem with it. When should we get married?” I could not wait for it.
“There isn’t any need to rush. I’ll need to do some prep for this. Once I’m done with the arrangements, I’ll update you with the date for us to register our marriage.”
“Alright.”
I had been acting like I was in a rush, now that I thought about it.
She was a famous superstar and was constantly watched by the paparazzi. How could she afford to be so reckless with her marriage?
“We should exchange numbers. What’s yours?” Layla asked.
“Take this down…”
After happily saving Layla’s number, I wrote the words ‘Wifey’ in the ‘remarks’ section.
“If there’s nothing else, you can leave. I’ll contact you once all preparations are done on my side.”
“That sounds fine. I’ll wait for your news at home.”
I got up and prepared to leave.
When I opened the door, Sandi, who had been trying to eavesdrop from the outside, was caught off guard. She ended up falling into the room.
However, she was not embarrassed about it. Instead, she approached Layla with an anxious look on her face. “Miss, are you really planning to marry this penniless guy?”
“Sandi, you shouldn’t poke your nose into this. All you need to do is work on keeping this under wraps.”
“If the fans find out you’re married, they would be deeply hurt. You’ll end up losing many of them.”
“I won’t. I believe they’ll be understanding and support my decision.”
“But…”
“Sandi, don’t say another word. This decision is final. Also, please walk my husband out.”
Layla emphasized the words ‘my husband’.
Sandi knew this was already a done deal, so she could only clench her teeth and say, “Mr. Lang, please come this way…”
…
I was now outside Pullman Hotel.
I was in a great mood!
Layla Owens, who swept the world off its feet, had millions of fans, was a triple threat in the industry with achievements in film, television, and music, and had a gorgeous face and a great body, was now my wife from this day onward.
Who would believe it if I told them?
It did not matter if anyone believed me or not because this was now a reality!
Layla Owen was now my wife from today onward!
Ahahahahaha!
I was so excited about this I could not help laughing with my head held high!
I skipped all the way back to Shoal Apartments, not feeling tired at all.
As I was about to walk up the stairs, a girl suddenly stood up in a dark corner.
“Freddie, why are you getting home so late?”
I looked at the girl properly and realized it was Montana.
I had no idea what to say. “Why are you crouching here? You scared me.”
“Freddie, I’ve got no home to return to.” Montana’s tears flowed as she said this.
“Huh… What happened?”
“My house has been wrecked,” Montana sobbed.
“I was feeling scared, so I sat here waiting for you.”
“What? Why didn’t you just call me?”
“My phone battery died.”
“Bring me up there to have a look.”
…
I was stunned at what I saw when I arrived at Montana’s house.
Montana’s house now looked completely different.
The walls were smeared with bright red paint, while every single piece of furniture and item of her belongings that could be destroyed, was destroyed. It was a complete disaster.
“Did Terry Logan do this?”
I thought about him.
I had escaped with Montana this morning.
However, there was only so far we could go.
Terry had not been able to find us, so he had returned to destroy everything to vent his anger.
“Yup, it must be him.”
“You definitely can’t spend the night here with your house looking like this. How about if I book you a room at the hotel next door?”
“I don’t want that.” Montana shook her head and rejected the offer.
“I’m afraid to be alone.”
“What are you going to do if you don’t want to go to a hotel?”
“How about I spend the night with you?” Montana said timidly.
