MYCSEEN'S POV
"Uh... Can I think about it? I mean, your question?" Brittany asked hesitantly, searching for the right words.
I could see the uncertainty in her eyes, and I didn’t want to pressure her. So, I smiled. "Okay then, I'll give you time to think. You can get back to me when you're ready."
"Thanks a lot," she replied, relief washing over her face as she turned and walked out of the classroom.
I exhaled, leaning back against my desk. I had finally told her how I felt. Now, all I could do was wait. I just hoped she'd say yes.
BRITTANY'S POV
Where is Dwayne? Where could she be at this crucial moment in my life?
Mycseen just asked me out. Me. I couldn't believe it. Mycseen had always been nice to me since I arrived at Dashville, but I had never considered the possibility of being with him. Yes, he was dreamy, charming, and sweet, but did I like him in that way? I wasn’t sure. That’s why I told him I’d think about it.
And now, I needed to talk to Dwayne. Immediately.
I scanned the hallway, my eyes darting past groups of students. Then I spotted her, heading toward class with her usual confident stride.
A smile of relief spread across my face. "Dwayne!" I called out, hurrying toward her.
She turned, looking slightly amused. "Where have you been?" I asked, breathless.
"Nowhere," she said, raising an eyebrow. "Did I miss anything?"
"Maybe," I replied, teasingly.
She smirked. "Okay, what did I miss?"
I leaned in slightly, lowering my voice. "Uh... Mycseen asked me to be his girlfriend."
Dwayne's eyes widened in surprise, then a grin broke across her face. "He did? No way!"
I nodded, chewing on my lower lip. "So... what do you think?"
"What do I think?" Dwayne chuckled. "Britt, the real question is—what do you think?"
"I…I don't know," I admitted. "I mean, I've never thought about him like that before."
Dwayne tilted her head, crossing her arms. "Oh, come on, Britt. You like him. You just don’t realize it yet."
I scoffed. "What makes you think that?"
She rolled her eyes. "Because I know you. If you didn’t like him, you wouldn’t be this flustered right now."
I sighed. "Okay, fine. Maybe I do like him... a little. But what if it’s just because he’s been nice to me?"
Dwayne shook her head. "That’s for you to figure out. But if you ask me, Mycseen is a great guy, and he really likes you. Why not give it a shot?"
I bit my lip, my thoughts spinning. "I'll think about it and get back to you tomorrow."
"Better," Dwayne said with a smirk.
But deep down, I knew the decision wasn’t going to be as easy as it sounded.
