CHAPTER 20

BRITTANY'S POV Another school day. Another day of avoiding Mycseen. It had been a week, and I still hadn't given him an answer. I wasn't sure why I was hesitating, maybe I was scared of how things would change if I said yes. "Goodbye, Josh," I said, stepping out of the car. The school's atmosphere buzzed with life—students chatting in groups, laughter echoing from different corners. I adjusted my bag and took a deep breath before heading toward my classroom. I glanced around as I walked in. Phew, Mycseen wasn’t here yet. "Hey, Britt," Dwayne’s familiar voice pulled me from my thoughts. "Oh hey, bestie," I greeted her with a small smile. "How are you doing?" she asked, tilting her head slightly. "I'm fine. What about you?" "I'm very fine," she replied cheerfully. I hesitated before asking, "Uh… Mycseen isn't in school yet?" As if summoned by my words, Dwayne’s eyes flickered toward the door. "Speaking of Mycseen… here he comes." I followed her gaze and immediately locked eyes with him as he entered. A jolt of nerves rushed through me, and I quickly looked away, pretending to focus on something else. He walked past my seat, without a word. Not even a "hi." Dwayne, always the social one, turned to him. "Hey, dude." "Howdy, girl," he said casually, taking his seat. I swallowed the lump in my throat. "Hi, Mycseen," I finally managed to say, my voice almost hesitant. "Hi." That was it. No warmth, no eye contact. Nothing. Ouch. That was rude. MYCSEEN'S POV A whole week! I had waited for an answer, a whole week of wondering, hoping, overthinking. And yet, she still wouldn’t tell me. I wasn’t good at this girl stuff. I never had been. But I wished, just wished, she could understand how much she meant to me. "Uh, Mycseen?" Her soft voice cut through my thoughts, and I lifted my head. She was smiling. And before I could process what was happening, her warm fingers rested gently on mine. My heart did a weird flip. "Yeah?" I said slowly, my voice barely above a whisper. "I've given it a thought," she said, her eyes filled with something unreadable. I could feel my heartbeat in my ears. Please, don't let this be a rejection. Don't let this be the moment I hear a ‘no’. "And I've made my decision." The world seemed to slow down. She took a deep breath and finally said it. "Yes. I'll be your date." For a second, I couldn't believe my ears. Then, like a storm breaking into sunshine, a grin spread across my face. "Wow… Thanks a lot," I said, my voice laced with relief and excitement. "You're welcome." "Awww, that's so sweet," Dwayne chimed in, grinning as she nudged me playfully. I chuckled, still feeling the high of her words. She said yes. Britt, you're mine now. You're part of my world. And trust me, I'm going to spoil you with everything, wealth, love, attention, until you get used to it. I glanced at her once more, my heart swelling with something I hadn’t felt in a long time. Thanks, Britt. DWAYNE'S POV She actually said yes! "Way to go, Britt! You finally did it!" I said as we walked toward the cafeteria. She laughed. "Thanks, Dwayne." We reached the café, the aroma of fresh pastries and coffee filling the air. Students were scattered around, some chatting loudly, others focused on their meals. And then, just as I was about to grab a tray, I saw him. James. Tall, handsome, and effortlessly charming. He stood by the entrance, scanning the room until his eyes landed on me. A slow smile crept onto his lips as he walked over. "Hey, Dwayne," he said smoothly, his voice carrying that familiar warmth. "Hii, James," I replied, feeling a small flutter in my stomach. We had been together for a while now, and yet, every time he looked at me like that, it still made my heart race. "Can we go to the movies later today?" he asked, slipping his hands into his pockets. "Yeah, sure we can," I replied without hesitation. His grin widened. "Thanks a lot, Dwayne. You're the best." Before I could say anything, he leaned in and pressed a soft kiss onto my hair. I felt my cheeks heat up. Brittany smirked beside me. "You two are so cute" I just rolled my eyes playfully. ALIA'S POV I clenched my fists so tightly that my nails dug into my palm. I can't believe it. I can't believe she actually said yes. Brittany. That girl had just made the worst mistake of her life. I watched from the far end of the cafeteria, my eyes narrowing as I observed her laughing, Well, she wouldn't be for long. I had been planning for this. Every move, every detail. And now that she had dared to take what should have been mine, it was time for payback. I smirked. Brittany, enjoy your happiness while it lasts… because I'm going to destroy it.
