Third Person
The Sunday afternoon was relatively quiet in the homestead. With both Matthew and Amber out of the house and their grandmother asleep upstairs both Mr. and Mrs. Aldrich sit in the kitchen sorting through the letters and also going over the house bills.
Their concentration would be broken by light banter and laughter. Each of them with drinks at arm length, enjoying the rest of the day. A long time ago, while they were young, they had talked of spending their weekends in this way. Poised and enjoying their company.
“Has Amber received any acceptance letters from the college application she sent?” Louise asks
