"What do you think you are trying to do, are you trying to seduce me? David questioned in her harsh voice to Lily.
"I am not trying in any way to seduce you, sir, this is just my nightwear sir, I will go and pull it off now if you don't like it," Lily responded amidst her sobs.
David's lip parted slightly and his voice was threatening and indifferent as he spoke "Get out of here"
"What could she have done to deserve this kind of treatment from him? They were married, why can't he just show her a little respect? Lily questioned.
As she went up to her room, her mind drifted to how David had been treating her ever since she came over to his house as his contract wife.
It has been two months now since she set foot in this house as David's contract bride, she couldn't doubt that whenever she sees David, she begins to feel something no man has ever made her feel.
But she was too scared to accept her feelings as she didn't want to have another heartbreak, and even if she accept her feelings, what would David do to her? She thought
Ever since she became David's contract wife, David has always treated her as if she doesn't exist, he will toss her around and even make her do the jobs of the servants.
She was completely lost and so absorbed in her thoughts that she didn't hear the door to her room open.
And was caught off guard when a tall dark skinned guy who was just a replica of David barged into the room.
"And who are you" Lily questioned
"I am Phil, David's brother, I guess you are Lily, my brother's wife, " the guy said.
"Yes, I am," Lily replied
"Well, I am sorry for barging into your room like this, Lily, I just wanted to discuss a few things about my brother with you, hope you don't mind. " Phil said
"Sure I don't," Lily responded, showing him a couch placed at the far end of the room so he could sit down.
"Thanks for allowing me, "Phil said
"You are welcome" Lily replied
"So first of all, I have been in the house for a while and I have seen how my brother, David, has been treating you. " Phil said, allowing Lily to absorb that first.
"So I would love to apologise on behalf of my brother and also explain to you why you are here," Phil said, making Lily afraid of what he was about to say next.
"Why the hell was he apologising to her because of his brother, will I be chased out?" Lily thought.
LOS ANGELES
"Are you sure of what you are saying?" An unknown man asked over the phone.
"Yes, I am sure sir," the Caller answered and with that, he cut the call.
Immediately the call was cut off, the unknown man called his assistant,
"I want you to dig out the details of Lily Carter," The man said to his assistant over the phone.
"Okay, sir, I will give you the information you need within the next 30 minutes." the assistant said.
"Better," the man said and cut the call.
"Could what he just heard about Lily Carter be the truth," the man thought.
He has just gotten information that Lily Carter has now fallen in love and is now married to his enemy, David Carter.
"I doubt that is true," He said.
He was still in his thoughts when his phone rang and disrupted his thoughts. On looking at the caller's ID, he found out that it was his assistant whom he just told to dig out information about Lily Carter.
"Hello sir," his assistant said as he picked up the call.
"What could you find?" he questioned
I am afraid sir, but Miss Lily Carter is now married to our long-time rival, Mr. David Carter.
"What?" was all he could shout
"But there is good news," his assistant told him as he heard him shout over the phone.
"And what's this good news?" he questioned
"They are married on just a contract," his assistant said.
"Find out the motive behind the contract marriage between them and get it to me, we have a battle to fight, " he told his assistant and with that, he cut the call.
NEW YORK
"I am scared but your mother has only four months left to live," Doctor Charles told Lily as soon as she called the hospital to check up on her Mother.
"What can I do sir so she can live," Lily asked the doctor.
"You just need to get the money for her heart transplant, and the earlier you do that, the better," Doctor Charles said and with that, he cut the call.
Doctor Charles has been so good to her, she calls him to know how her mother was doing but Unfortunately for her, Doctor Charles couldn't do anything to help her out of this situation now.
As She cut the call, she had no idea how she could bring the money to sort her mum's hospital bills.
The only person whom she thought could give her the money for her mum's hospital bills was his contract husband, David Carter.
But would he agree to give her such an amount of money? She thought knowing fully well that David doesn't treat her as a wife.
"I will give it a try," Lily said to herself as she was in between her sobs.
As she stepped out of her room, she saw one of the housemaids, Mrs Nancy, who has been like a mother to her ever since she set foot in David's House.
"Hi, Lily, where are you going? " Mrs Nancy asked
"I am searching for my husband, David, " Lily replied
"Ohh, he is in his study " Mrs Nancy replied
"Thanks," Lily said and with that she made her way to the study.
On getting to the study, What she heard next wasn't what she was expecting.
She has just finished explaining to David what will happen to her mum if she doesn't get the money for the heart transplant in the next four months.
And all, David could say was
"Get ready, Lily, you are giving me an heir. " David said in his authoritative tone.
