CHAPTER 3

"Hey, Lily, Wake up, Check this out," Sandra said, trying to show Lily who was still asleep an Advert she found on her phone.

"Wake up Lily," Sandra said shaking Lily

Lily yawning said "Morning Sandra, How was your night? "

"Get up Lily, check this out," Sandra said, handing over her phone to Lily.

Wow, this is nice Sandra, but why are you showing me this? Lily questioned.

Sandra snapping her fingers in front of Lily's face said " I want you to take up the contract dummy,"

Lily looked at the ad for the second time and it stated

"A Contract Bride needed;

Requirements :

Must be willing to be in a contract marriage for six months.

Must not be in any relationship.

Must not have a job.

Apply at The Carter's Empire

Pay: Mouthwatering. "

"I don't think I can do this Sandra," Lily said

And why do you think so? Sandra questioned.

"I don't think it's a good idea to be married to someone you don't know, like I mean what if he is a beast or something? " Lily said.

And what makes you think that Lily, the only thing that should be your concern here is the money to be made and not some bullshit " Sandra explained

"Just think about it, I am sure that this contract will be worth millions of dollars because the only type of people that seek contract brides are Billionaires and not poor people."

" If you will be able to secure this contract, I am sure that the money to be paid will be enough for your mum's surgery and for you to sponsor your art career too," Sandra said, trying to convince Lily to go for the opportunity.

"Okay then, I will try out the contract, Sandra," Lily said.

"That's my girl," Sandra said.

AT THE CARTER's EMPIRE

Initially, Lily didn't want to try out the contract but the thought of finally being able to provide for herself and take care of her ailing mum and pay for the hospital bills, and also help her art career tempted her to try out the contract.

"What does she have to lose if she gets rejected, " Lily thought.

As she was in between her thoughts, her name was called by the secretary.

"Are you Miss Lily? " questioned the secretary.

"Yes I am" Lily replied

"Go in, it's your turn for the interview," the secretary said.

So Miss LILY, are you in any relationship?" Michael, David's assistant, asked.

"No, I am not in any relationship, Sir," Lily responded

"Have you been in any relationship? "Michael asked

"No I haven't been in any relationship" Lily replied knowing fully well the consequences of lying in an interview like this.

Your answers so far are nice, but Would you be willing to give Mr David an heir?" Michael asked hoping to get a Positive answer as other candidates that have been interviewed declined when it reached this point.

"Yes, I am willing to give Mr David an heir" Lily responded quickly, surprising Michael.

Michael couldn't believe his ears as this was the first girl that said she would be willing to give an heir to Mr David.

Does she know who Mr David was? Michael thought.

We will get back to you, Miss Lily, you can go now" Michael responded.

"Okay sir", With that Lily stood up leaving the office hoping that the contract be given to her

As soon as she left, Michael picked up his phone and dialled Mr David's Number.

Mr David picked up on the second ring,

"Hello Michael, how is it going? "

"I think we have found the right contract wife for you sir" Michael Said.

9 pm,

SANDRA's HOUSE

Suddenly, Lily's phone rang with an unknown caller id displayed on the screen.

"Hello," Lily said picking up the call

"Hello, Am I speaking with Miss? Lily Parker?" The caller asked

"Yes, this is Lily Parker, is there any problem?" Lily answered in a fearful tone.

"There is no problem ma, I am calling from The Carter's Empire concerning the Contract bride."

Congratulations ma'am, you have been chosen as the contract bride," the caller said.

"Really? " Lily asked as she couldn't believe that out of all the people that came for the Interview, she got chosen.

"Yes ma'am, make sure to represent the empire tomorrow by 9 am for the paperwork to be done, have a good night, " The caller said, disconnecting the call.

"Woah, Sandra, I can't believe this, I have been chosen as the contract bride," Lily shouted.

CARTER'S EMPIRE

9 am,

"So Miss Lily here is the paperwork you are to sign, but we are to wait for Mr. David Carter. " Michael said

"Mr David Carter? Did I hear that correctly? Is he not the famous billionaire in New York?" Lily thought to herself as she couldn't believe she heard the name correctly.

"Oh, here you are sir," Michael said standing up to welcome Mr David.

Wait, My thoughts were right, Mr David Carter was the one being talked about, but was she going to enter a contract marriage with the finest billionaire in town? Lily questioned in her thoughts.

"What flawless skin he has" Lily muttered as she brought out her hands hoping for a handshake but David just walked past her.

As David looked over at Lily, he saw that she was just a normal girl who could do anything to get money, and to top it all, the clothes she wore wouldn't cost more than 30 dollars.

"What a poor bride, Michael found for him," David thought.

As Lily brought out her hands for a handshake, he couldn't help but think who Lily thought she was, that he would shake her hands.

He suddenly felt a surge of disgust and hate for Lily.

"So here is the paperwork," Michael said, handing it over to Lily to review and sign.

As Michael slid a pile of documents across the table to Lily, their dark eyes focused and intense as Lily took them from Michael.

As Lily flipped through the pages of the document, her heart raced with anticipation. She never knew what kind of plans they had but all she knew was that she was here for the money.

In the Contract was written

"The bride must be willing to be in a contract marriage for six months.

The bride must have not been in any relationship.

The bride must not have a job.

The bride must be willing to give an heir to the groom. "

No Seduction from the bride

No Romance from the bride.

And below the document was written

"20 Million dollars"

to be credited to the bride at the end of the contract.

As Lily saw the amount being offered, her mouth drooped ajar, she couldn't believe that someone would be able to pay that amount just for a fake marriage.

If she was to make that amount of money on her own, it would take her ages to do that but here it was offered to her on a platter of gold.

If she was to be given 20 million dollars for a fake marriage, why would she reject it, even if she had to give him an heir, she would do just that, " she thought

"I accept the deal," she said and with that, she signed the contract, but there was one thing she couldn't bring herself to tell them, the fact that she had been in a relationship with the first man she ever loved but left her because he thought she was a dent to his acting career.

"Did it matter? "She muttered, all her concern was the money to be made.

Michael collected the document from Lily and passed it over to David who signed the document immediately and didn't care to look at the document as he already knew what was there.

"What a weird Man" Lily muttered

"Lily, congratulations, you are now officially Mr David's wife," Michael said.

"Go home, pack up, my driver will come to pick you up at 10 am tomorrow. "

With that, Mr David stood up and left the office, leaving Lily to think about her new life and newly found fake marriage.

But the question to be answered was

Would she be capable of going through all the problems the contract marriage will bring her way and all the hate David has for her?
