THE UNDERCOVER HEART

CHAPTER 2

"Hey David, you haven't touched your food ever since we started Dinner, Are you okay?"David's mum, Mrs Megan asked his son.

"Yes, I am fine, mum. it's just that I don't feel like eating," replied David.

"But this is your best meal, you can kill for it," his father, Mr Alex, said.

"That's true Dad, it's just that I am full and I don't feel like eating" David replied not wanting his parents to know he just got rejected for a life-changing contract all because he was not married.

His parents have been on his neck ever since his ex-wife left him, they were telling him to get married and that they would love to have their grandchildren but that wasn't what David wanted.

His parents have also organised some blind dates for him but he ended up insulting the various women and threatening to kill them if he sees them by his side again.

"Thanks, for this delicious meal," David said standing up and pecking his mum and with that, he zoomed off to his room.

"I think something is bothering him," Mr Alex told his wife

"I know right? but I believe he would pass over it, he is old enough to make his own decisions" Mrs Megan responded, assuring her husband that all is well.

Meanwhile, David inside his room was pacing up and down, he couldn't yet believe that he had just got rejected for a contract worth billions of dollars, a contract which could make him achieve his long-time dream of becoming the first multi-billionaire in the whole of New YorkCity.

"I must get this contract, no matter what it takes, I must surely get this contract" David muttered to himself.

Picking up his phone, he called his brother, Phill, whom he was sure was screwing a b***h in a club. His brother, Phil, was a playboy, known for his expensive lifestyle and his insatiable desire for s*x and women.

Even though his brother, Phil, was a playboy, David still loved him as he was the only one who understands him and stays with him during his hard times.

On the second ring, his brother Phil picked up the call,

"Hello big Brother" Phil moaned over the call

"Where are you, Phil?" David asked his brother knowing fully well that he must be in the club.

"I am in the club Man, why are you disturbing me, bro?" Phil questioned over the call.

"Come home now, Phil," David said and with that, He cut the call.

*What a jerk, his brother was" David muttered.

20 Minutes Later:

Hey, I am home guys," Phil said as he alighted from his car.

"Ohh it's 10 pm already, I bet Mum and Dad are asleep. '' Phil muttered happily as he was sure that if his parents were still awake, they must surely shout at him for coming home late.

With that, he walked upstairs to go meet his brother who disturbed him while he was in the middle of his party.

Knocking on his brother's room, he pushed the door open to know why his brother was keen on ruining his perfect night. But he found his brother in a sad mood.

Although he was just concerned about the party he was having, he still loved his brother, David.

Seeing David in a sad mood made Phil forget that he was disturbed in the middle of his party.

What's wrong bro? I thought you were supposed to be happy since you got the billion-dollar contract". Phil asked

David replied in his sad tone "That's why I am moody, The owner of the empire said they couldn't give me the contract"

"But why?, You are no doubt the most qualified for such a contract" Phil replied in a serious tone.

"You think that?" David asked, feeling fulfilled that at least someone believed in him.

"Sure, why not" Phil responded

"Well, Mr Thomas Chen, the owner of the Chinese empire, said he can't work with me because I wasn't married," David replied

"What? you are kidding, right? Phil questioned hoping his brother was just playing around.

"He said it was in his empire's policy to work only with a married man and that based on their culture and beliefs, a married man is a responsible man, and is the only one they can trust to get the job done. " David explained to his kid bro

"What a useless Belief, so what are you going to do about this?" Phil asked his brother knowing fully well that his brother could kill just to get this contract.

"Well, I don't know what to do, Phil, and you know that I am not ready to fall in love or talk more about getting married," David answered

"But why don't you just fall in love and get married? " Phil said, teasing his brother.

Be serious here, Phil, I am not in for your stupid jokes, and don't you remember what happened the last time I fell in love and got married? David asked his brother in a serious tone.

Phil vividly remembered what happened the last time, his brother fell in love and got married.

His brother was in love with a beautiful lady, Ava Reynolds.

When they got married, he could remember how his brother, David, would always put his wife first before any other person but things changed as his brother's wife accused his brother of cheating on her with her best friend.

When his brother was taken to court, they were all hoping for a fair judgement, but the reverse was the case as the lawyer had already been bribed by Ava and her parents, as the lawyer went ahead to rule the judgement in favour of Ava and also asked that David's wealth and properties be shared between the wife and him.

This made his brother lose half of his fortune.

As Phil thought about this, an idea flashed through his mind.

"I think I have an idea of what we can do," Phil suddenly said.

"And what's your idea?" David asked

"Why don't you go into a ……………………..?"

Phil suggested

"Never," David shouted.
