"My queen," one of the commanders spoke as he walked up to her, his military background showing in the way he was walking, and bowed his head in respect, "we have spotted a ship just outside of the atmosphere." The queen raised an eyebrow in surprise. Alien life, she thought while looking up in the hope to see a glance of the ship, but it was too far away, or they may have cloaked it. "It has been trying to contact us, saying that they want to meet with our leader," the commander stated as he stood up straight, his hands clasped behind his back and his feet shoulder length apart. The queen could not contain her happiness as she tried not to jump up and down like a little child. Actual alien life existed. She knew they could not be the only ones in the universe and she could only hope that her people could find proof of life on other planets while she was still alive, but now there was an alien ship right outside of their atmosphere. Who would’ve predicted that! "Tell them we will meet them, but on friendly terms, they can only bring three people with them," the queen said with confidence in her voice that hid her enthusiasm, but even then the commander could still see the glint of excitement sparkling in her eyes as she fiddled with her fingers. Her whole life she had been trained to be the leader of their planet. Mainly because she didn't have any other choice; her parents were the ones who saved this planet from extinction. Thus, the people had high hopes for her as she was their successor, expecting her to lead them to whatever the future holds. This was, at times, hard to deal with as she was only eighteen-years old. And just like any other eighteen-year old, she wanted to have fun, to know what it was like to have a boyfriend and what more, but she couldn’t. But just because she had the money, did not mean she was acting like a spoiled child who gets everything with a simple wave of her hand. She dressed the way she wanted, which mostly existed of jeans with a loose-fitting shirt and a pair of sneakers, and she did not act like she was better than everyone, just because of her status. Her people loved her for who she was, that she showed that she was like them, equals. She was fair to anyone and did not tolerate any kind of violence. Her parents changed the way these people thought and made a new world, one where we lived in peace and harmony with nature. We did not harm each other anymore, and the young queen felt like it was her duty to protect her heritage. If she couldn’t, she would feel like she let her parents down. Together with her personal bodyguard she strode to the headquarters, waiting for an answer to arrive from the alien ship. She could only imagine how they would look like. Would they be green, with a slender body and a colossal head, or would they look like us? Were they stronger, did they have special abilities? All kinds of questions raced through her mind, dizzying her as she tried to keep calm. She knew that if she were to establish a good relationship between the two species, that they could benefit from it. It seemed like they had technology that was way more advanced than theirs. She could only hope that they had goodwill in their heart. It took a while before they had gotten an answer back. It told them they agreed to the terms and that they would send a small ship down the Laomia, containing three people. Nervousness wrecked the queens’ body. In a couple of hours, she would meet them. It was exciting her, yet scaring her too. The message also said that they would land a couple miles from here, in an open space. It was safer to land there than in a city full of people. The queen had ordered to set up snipers, in case something went wrong. She didn’t want to place too many as she did not want to come over like she was about to kill them. It was only to be safe; she was sure they would understand. After a short car ride, they arrived at the meeting point. They were still early, so the queen decided to stay in the car, waiting for their arrival. As she waited, she thought back to how they would look like and what they would want. They would only get in contact when they wanted something, right? ... The crown prince did not know what he saw. He was sure that their planet should have been destroyed, but instead it was thriving like never before. The nature was quickly growing back, and no one would even think that thirty years ago they were at the brink of extinction. He was happy that for once he made a good decision, because now they had a planet that they could call their new home. He had already sent out a signal, saying that he wanted to meet with their leader, whoever that was, and it didn’t take long before they got an answer back, showing their eager to learn more about the Inzieans. He understood why they would only let three people on their planet. The Inzieans were foreigners to them. The Laomians first had to make sure if they had good intentions, which he was happy to prove to them. He called for his first in command, Slaton, and for the best pilot he had, Lyon. He knew his brother would give him hell for not taking him, but he would deal with it when he came back. After the commander and the pilot had arrived, they boarded the ship, seating on their designated places. "How long until we reach the planet?" The crown prince asked flatly, not wanting to show his true emotions. "Half an hour, your highness," the pilot answered quickly, already starting the ship for take-off. He nodded, satisfied that it would not take longer than he thought it would. The crown prince thought about how their kind would look like. They didn’t have any data as to how they looked, which was a little strange, but he didn’t think any of it. The planet was still habitable for their kind. The small ship took off, reaching the planet in the half hour the pilot said it would take. The crown prince could feel that his commander and pilot were nervous to set a foot on the planet, and he would be lying if he said he wasn’t nervous too. This would be the first time that they would set foot on a planet in decades. The door of the ship opened, revealing the bright light of the sun. The three people had to close their eyes for a second as they adjusted to it, their eyes not used to such brightness. "Commander do you have the communication devices," the crown prince asked as he set a foot on the solid ground beneath his feet, the wind blowing through his hair softly, a foreign feeling to him. The commander nodded his head, "I have them right here," -he patted the pocked he had them in- "your highness." "Good, because we will need them if we want to establish a good relationship as they will not recognise our language" The commander and the crown prince left the ship, leaving Lyon to attend to the ship. They walked to a small group of people that existed of a broad-shouldered guy with rich brown hair and deadly looking blue eyes, who was armed with what looked like a gun, the crown prince’s guess was that he was the bodyguard of their leader. A petite girl that with the most darkest colour of hair he had ever seen stood next to the bodyguard, but it wasn't her hair that made him look twice. No, it was her eyes. They were a rich deep blue that made it almost look like it was violet. She was dressed in a too big black shirt that said something he could not read and beside the mysterious girl stood, what he thought was the leader, a tall man that was dressed in a suit, analysing the newcomers. The girl said something to her bodyguard, eyeing the foreigners, "who do you think is the leader. My guess it is the guy with the brown hair and pale blue eyes. He looks kind of serious. The guy beside him looks like a bodyguard of some sort with that scar running down his face." "I would honestly not know, your majesty," the bodyguard replied, not taking his eyes of them. "What did I tell you Rhael," the queen sighed as she crossed her arms, narrowing her eyes at her bodyguard, "you can call me by my name." Rhael shook his head, not listening to the child before him as he led her towards the duo that was walking to them, holding something in their hands. It looked like a communication device of some sort, if he saw it correctly. "Looks like I thought wrong," the crown prince said surprised, as he saw the small girl and the bodyguard walking to them, not expecting that the small girl was their leader. It looked like to him that the small girl was scolding him for something. This made the prince crack a smile, making him chuckle when he found out what she was scolding him for. Her bodyguard refused to use her name. This only intrigued him more. What kind of queen was she? Normally, royal people would not like it if a commoner such as looked at them, let alone use their name. The crown prince saw the girl looking away, saying something to her bodyguard. He could hear that they were talking about snipers. He already saw that she had positioned four of them, but it didn’t come over as threatening as the people here were only armed with one gun. She clearly wanted to come over as a peaceful person. The crown prince frowned when he heard her bodyguard say that he had only stationed three snipers. The queen looked alarmed, and before he knew, the queen was shot in her side. She was clutching it as a strangled groan left her mouth. The crown prince immediately ran up to her, a bit panicked as he thought the people would think it was their fault. But right now, that was not as important as saving the young girl in front of him. He knew that if he got her to the small ship, he would be able to save her. Chaos erupted around them as another bullet killed someone else. The people running everywhere in panic as others barked other. He couldn’t see how many more got killed, his eyes only on the queen before him. Her guard saw the alien prince running up to them, the alien prince having an anxious look in his face, scared that the people would think it was his fault and would decide to start a war with the Inzieans. The crown prince showed the communications devices, putting one on the temple of the queen. The bodyguard took one and hesitantly placed it on his temple, grunting a little as an electrical currency pierced his skin. "I can heal her in my ship," the alien prince said as he took the queen in his arms, much to the bodyguards’ dismay. It was his duty to protect her, not a foreign prince. The bodyguard nodded, nonetheless, seeing that it was important to get her medical care as she was coughing up blood, barely staying awake. Together they ran to their ship, the bodyguard dismissing his protective feeling over her, knowing she was safe at the ship. The crown prince brought her up to the medical bay as soon as he set step into his ship, telling Torzuzu to scan her for the damage that the bullet had caused. "The bullet went through her body completely, piercing one of her lungs," she told the prince as he laid her down. The prince nodded, "can you start the regeneration program." "Yes, your highness." The bodyguard watched in awe as the skin of his queen was regenerating slowly. He had never seen this kind of technology and in this moment; he saw in it was indeed important to have a peaceful relationship with this species. They could help the Laomians with building the world further up. The queen groaned as she felt her wounds slowly heal, thinking about what happened. One of the rebels had attacked them, she was sure of it as they probably wanted them to think that the Inzieans had ill intentions. To everyone’s luck she was raised to first hear both stories and then to conclude what was true and what was not. If she hadn’t, then they would most likely be in a war already with the aliens. "Are you all right," a deep pleasant voice asked, concern in his voice, but the queen wasn’t sure if it was because he was scared that she would start a war or that it was for her. She looked up and met a pair of pale blue eyes, genuine worry swirling in them. She nodded, too tired to say something. She couldn’t help but wonder why he would ask her if she was all right. He only had to worry if she was out of life-danger and she was. "Get some more rest," he said as he walked away, leaving her alone. The crown prince walked away, letting her rest. He nodded at her bodyguard who was standing uneasy, feeling intimidated by the Inzieans technology. "Did they found the one who shot her," he asked the bodyguard. Rhael’s eyes lit up, burning with hatred as he thought about the rebels. "No, but we know it was the rebels." The prince nodded, looking back at the queen. "Isn’t she a bit too young to be a queen," the prince voiced his thoughts. Rhael smiled at this, "yes, but she had too, as her parents died when she was just a baby." The crown prince grimaced at this, knowing what it felt like to step up at such a young age. It was a weight she should not have to carry yet. He left the bodyguard on his own, walking to his first in command who had a scowling look on his face. The prince shook his head, already knowing the speech he would get. "They could have killed you," the commander started, "what if that was their intention." "It wasn’t," the crown prince told him, believing the words that the guard told him. He still had to know their names, but he knew it would come to when the queen was ready to go. Until then, they would have to stay here. ... The queen groaned softly as she woke up again. She still felt weak from the loss of blood, but at least she wasn’t in grave danger anymore. She slowly sat up, looking to her surroundings. She saw that she was residing in some sort of medical bay. She looked for her guard and saw he was sleeping soundly in a chair. She smiled softly at this. He never left her side, no matter what. She also knew he would gladly give his life for her, after all, he had promised her parents to keep her safe. She stood up from the bed, when the door suddenly opened, making her squeal at the sudden sound, alerting her guard. Rhael immediately went into defence mode, relaxing slightly when he saw the alien prince coming in. "Good morning," he greeted, his smile infectious. "I don’t mean to be rude, but it would be nice to have a name to the face," the queen spoke after greeting him back, smiling politely back. She wondered what the sudden change in his behaviour came from. The prince chuckled, "my name is Kairos. I’m the crown prince of my people." The queen nodded, "nice to meet you, prince Kairos. I’m Caelyn and this is Rhael, my bodyguard." She pointed to Rhael, who nodded at the prince. ‘You can just call me Kairos, queen Caelyn,’ the prince said, liking the way her name rolled off his tongue. ‘Only if you call me Caelyn,’ she countered, smiling brightly. The prince shook his head, laughing as he had already expected this. "My pilot tells me it is safe outside," he told them, the whole reason he came here in the first place. Caelyn jumped up and down, happy that she could go. The prince couldn’t help but be intrigued by her. She was young and certainly not his type, but he couldn’t help it that he wanted to know her better. The door to the outside world opened for a second time, this time revealing the queen and her bodyguard together with the crown prince and his first in commander. "If you do not mind, Kairos. I would like to spend the next few days in my house at the beach. It is very quiet there and I think it would be a great place to talk." Kairos nodded, saying he had no problem with it. He would grab every chance to see more of this world. He knew this planet was perfect for his people, he could only hope that the queen allowed them to live on this planet too. The queen walked in front of them, smiling and waving at the people who survived the attack. All of them seemed glad to see her alive. Kairos could see some curious glances coming his way too. He smiled politely to them, showing he was no threat to them. "The people seem really glad she is still alive," the prince commented. Rhael nodded, "we owe our lives and that of our children to her parents. I think many would turn to their old ways if she died. We almost did when the old queen and king died." The prince frowned at this. It was dangerous to be so dependent on one person, but given the history of them he could understand. Her parents stepped up when no one else did and changed the course of their future. They neared the cars that would bring them to the airport and stepped in. The queen sat on the backside together with the prince, and her bodyguard was driving the car. In the passenger seat sat the first commander, who had a miffed look on his face, not trusting the Laomians completely. "Why did the rebels wanted to kill you?" Kairos asked as the car was speeding up. The queen sighed, "it’s a group of people who want to go back to our old ways and they know by killing me they would achieve their goal." Kairos shifted a little, not liking the fact that she was in grave danger. She was just a child and who knows how many times they tried to assassinate her and would try in the future.
