Boom!
Bassan jolted out of a restless sleep. Dazed, he scanned the dark room. Zendar also roused with a start and a sharp intake of breath. In the distance, a siren grew in strength.
“Zendar, what the—”
Boom! A nearby explosion shattered what remained of the peace.
We’re under attack.
Another explosion sounded. Bassan rose to his feet before his brain had a chance to tell his body to move. Fingers still on his tablet, he shoved it into his shirt and groped for his boots.
Who’s attacking? he thought, jumping on one foot while he secured his second boot.
Based on our recon yesterday, it’s probably the Lethan. Determined to take this settlement. And pissed we slipped through their lands.
