Chapter 1: The Transfer student
"Thea!" my mom shouted at me. I rubbed my eyes. Why did I feel like today was going to suck? I didn't know why I had the gut feeling I did, but I just did. Letting out a soft sigh, I got out of bed. My school was just your average small town public high school. There wasn't anything special about it. It was located in Willow, Missouri which was three hours south of Kansas City. Like most small towns, there wasn't anything to do here. There was a McDonald's and a roller rink. That was it. So, a lot of us spent time at the roller rink. It was a popular hangout. "Theodora!! I won't tell you a second time," My mom shouted. Okay, she was getting really angry. I needed to let her know that I was up finally. She would send in my little brother next to make sure. That was strike three. She knew I hated when he came to bother me to get out of bed. "I'm up mom! Seriously...," I shouted at her. This was really unfortunate that I had to yell at my mom. Then again, to be fair, she had yelled at me first. It was also to make sure that she could hear me. There was just silence now. Silence was what I totally needed to hear...Not. This was just something that meant she probably understood that I was up. It was time to get ready. I slipped on jeans and a black v-neck shirt. I slipped on my knee high flat boots. Now it was time to do my hair. Look in the mirror, I brushed out my red hair. It was a pleasant shade of red. My mom called it "Little Mermaid" red. I liked it, but people asked me if it was dyed when it was. I had inherited my mom's violet eyes. So people thought my natural looks were fake. It was annoying, but there was nothing I could do to prove them wrong. It wasn't like they could follow me around twenty four seven. That would be creepy. I put my hair into a ponytail and then grabbed my backpack. It was ready to go. My mom was waiting for me in the kitchen. She had made me chocolate chip pancakes and had poured me a glass of orange juice. "Thanks mom...," I said to her. I sat down and ate my breakfast. My little brother soon joined us at the table. He too had the same thing I did. It was a tradition in the morning to have pancakes and orange juice. Sometimes it was grape or apple if my mom wanted to change things up. After we ate, mom took us to school. She dropped off my little brother at the middle school and me at the high school. Waiting for me was my best friend Rory. Rory and I had know each other since middle school. We became best friends fast. "Did you hear we have a transfer student?" Rory asked me casually twisting her hair nervously. Why was she nervous? It was just a transfer student. Rory had blonde hair and stunning blue eyes. She was really pretty, and I was jealous of her. Rory and I both did theater as well. Rory normally got the leading roles. I was always so proud of her. This year My Fair Lady. I was really excited. I loved the character of Eliza Doolittle. So I was going to try my hardest when it came to trying out this year. Heading to my locker, my first hour was World History. It wasn't something that was my favorite subject. It was either English or theater. I loved books. Books were one of my loves in life. That and food. I mean, I loved my friends and family. There was no guy in my life and I wanted it to stay that way. That was just how my life was. After separating from Rory, I made my way to World History. Exactly at 8 am the bell rang. Soon Mr. Spencer was the front of the room, "okay class we have a transfer student...." So where the infamous transfer student? Soon, a boy came through the door. He had chocolate brown hair and deep emerald green eyes. He was extremely attractive. He had a face that made you want to stare at it for hours. However, when he opened his mouth, I hated him. He had a European accent I couldn't place. It sounded British but it wasn't, "hello, I'm Ezra Reynolds. You Americans can call me your highness. That's what I prefer after all."
