Stella ran and ran. She ran until her lungs burned. She skidded to a halt before Holden's cabin. Acrid smoke filled her nostrils, burning deep. The shack raged like a huge bonfire, flames licking hungrily at the sides, sending showers of sparks into the predawn gloom. Her pack must've done this. Stella's mind raced. She needed to find Holden, ensure the man was okay, and then make sure he got far away from here.
Even though she and Holden might not be together anymore, a part of her had to help him. And as soon as Holden was safe, she was leaving. She had to. Her pack would never let her in again, not if they thought she'd given her virginity to a human. In their eyes, her actions were unforgivable.
