Chapter Two

The last bell rang for the day, I was so relieved.  Normally I don’t mind school too much,  I am a pretty good student and I get to have my sister, Cara with me in most of my classes. We keep to ourselves, and pretty much do everything together, all the she-wolves, think that we are human so consider us not up to their standard for socialising.  The guys have tried to date us but have realised we are on a strict-no-date rule.     We live amongst werewolves in a pack called the Blue Wave pack.  My father is a werewolf, while my mother is a witch.  They were fated and my mother left her family to be with my father.  He is the current Beta of the pack, that means the second in command. The Alpha and my father have been friends since they were kids. Although my mother also grew up in a Werewolf pack, they decided to stay with my fathers pack as he was in such a high position.   The Alpha is a good man, his name is Thomas.  He has always been kind to my mom, sister and I.  Unfortunately his sons did not inherit their father’s kindness.  They are incredibly spoilt and act as if everyone needs to do what they say just because they are the sons of the Alpha. They date whoever they want, and often try to force she-wolves to be with them if they don’t want to.  Reis and Leo, the Alpha’s son’s have never come near us, they know that we are the daughter of Beta, but up until now they have always thought us human, therefore in their minds useless.  My father made us vow that we would not tell anyone our secret.  My mother’s witch powers were also kept secret by the Alpha in case anyone tried to take advantage of us.   

I have truly loved growing up in the pack.  The open spaces, crisp open air have always appealed to me. We love being in the outdoors, swimming in the stream near our house.    Even though I am not a wolf, I have always known that my sister and I would be mated to wolves.  It is our destiny and as my father told us, our destinies can’t be changed.  

Today my sister and I turn 18.  That means we are at an age to find our destined mate.  That’s why we wanted to go home so badly.  Most of the boys at our school were not the type of people we would want to be with.  The idea of being mated to someone in the pack made us both feel so scared.  We knew we could only be mated to one of the higher ranking wolves,they had to be brothers as well, our powers are strong, we need to be with a powerful wolf to help us control the powers that are in us.  The idea of us being mated to Reis and Leo made me feel scared to the core of my being.  One of our gifts is being able to read minds, only if the person has their mind open to us.  We can hear what they are thinking.  Reis and Leo are violent, they like to hurt their partners and act as their Dom.  Cara and I are petrified, what if they find out about our powers?.  Luckily we were in the last lesson together, we grabbed each other’s hand and ran for the door.  We ran down the corridor, out of the building and straight towards our car.  We did not stop for a minute. My heart felt as if it would explode.  I got into the driver's seat and raced home.  As we started nearing the turn off towards our house, I began to start feeling calmer,  Knowing that my mom and dad would be there, waiting to wish us, made me smile.  I slowed the car down a bit and relaxed.  I looked over at Cara, the same thoughts crossing her mind.
