Chapter Fourteen

“When can we take our blind folds off,” I say giggling.  

“Not yet, we will let you know soon, you will love it.”  I can hear the excitement in Chase’s voice, I wasn’t sure who was more excited, me or him.  He was currently carrying me bridal style somewhere in the forest, as I was blindfolded and he was scared I would fall and hurt myself.  I could hear Cara giggling near me so assumed she was in the same position.  Chase was getting really good at putting up a wall so I couldn’t read his thoughts.  I must have huffed and not been able to, which led to him letting out the most beautiful laugh I had ever heard.  I decided to give up my thought hunting and snuggled up into his warm chest.  Whenever I did this my breathing seemed to calm down, it was almost as if it was made just for me.  A low growl showed me that Chase loved it as much as me.  

I was dragged out of my warm spot when I felt Chase gently setting me on the ground.  I clung onto him still as I didn’t want to lose the connection.  Clingy, when did I become so clingy, me, I never needed anyone besides my family before.  

I slowly looked around and became mesmerized by what I was looking at.  A magnificent lake , situated deep in the heart of the forest, parts of it were frozen by there was still some running water in the distance.  The most beautiful trees were surrounding it, almost protecting it from the outside world.  I have always believed in fairies, and if they had a home I always pictured it to look something like this.  Each tree looked ancient as if they had seen a world that no longer existed.  Each tree is a piece of art, waiting for someone to paint them.  My gaze moved closer to home and that’s when I noticed the surprise.  Right in front of me was a clearing with a barbeque fire going on the side.  There was a fire in the middle as well, with two beautiful, comfy sofas on either side.  Next to that was a table, set for four people.  Fairy Lights hung from the trees while candles lit the path and the table.   There were big blankets and pillows on each of the sofas for warmth and comfort.  I was speechless, my inability to speak must have confused Chase as I could feel the panic rising in him.  “If you don’t like it, we can do something else, maybe a fancy restaurant?”  His words rushed in a panic. 

 I turned into his arms, wrapping mine around his neck, I looked up into his eyes, hoping I could convey how much I loved what he had done.  I pulled his head down till his lips connected with mine.  I poured all my emotions into the kiss.  Our lips moved in sync, gentle and sweet.  As the kiss came to an end, I grazed my lips over his, “You are amazing…”.  

I was rewarded with his star studded smile, how I longed to kiss each of those dimples.  

The evening could have been written by Shakespeare himself but even his words would not have described the perfection of the night.  Chase and Kai were absolute gentlemen in every respect.  They had prepped delicious steaks on the barbeque which was served with amazing sides which we were told was prepared by their housekeeper, our future house keeper, they reminded us.  For dessert there was baked cheesecake, my absolute favourite.  I couldn’t say no to a second helping.  It melted on my mouth as if created by a G-d.  We moved onto the sofas and spent the evening getting to know each other better.  They both told the most ridiculous stories about each other, they didn’t seem to care how much they embarrassed themselves.  Cara and I could barely talk; we were laughing so much.  I am sure at one point we even snorted.  They told us about their pack, the history and how they were brought up to run things.  I was completely mesmerized by Chase.  He was firm, powerful yet had such a kind soul, he was so much more than what an Alpha was meant to be.  I couldn’t help but compare him to Reis, powerful yet cruel.  I was always a believer that kindness can bring strength.  To see this in a powerful Alpha, and know that the Moon Goddess designed us for each other, gave me faith that he truly might be able to help me control the burning that was pushing towards the surface.  I suddenly felt a gentle finger on my chin, turn my head to face him.  Chase must’ve noticed my dazed look as concern was plastered all over his face.  

“Where did I lose you to?” he whispered.  I wasn’t sure if I should tell him, but mates don’t hide things from each other.  

“This evening has been perfect…”, I slowly say, a small tear escaping my eyes.  His finger gently wipes the tear away, as he tries to encourage me to continue.  “You are so much more than I expected, powerful, strong, kind and gentle, I have never known, met or seen anyone like you.  I am not sure if I deserve you”.  My words became small and quiet at the end.  

“What do you mean? We were made for each other, you are my perfect other half, designed and sculpted just for me.  We have dreamed of each other, waited for each other and finally,,,finally… you are here.”  He ends off as with his lips lightly touching my forehead.  

“Please don’t be angry about what I am going to say, I just want to be open with you.” I could feel him tense up but he told me to continue.  

“As you saw when you found me at my Aunt's house, my powers are linked to fire, you saw the flames coming out of my fingertips.  Sometimes……” I begin to stutter, Chase kisses my knuckles and nods for me to continue.  

“Sometimes I feel this burning, right in the core of my body, it feels as if a tsunami is coming and I will get lost in it’s waves.  I feel like it is going to envelope me, take over my consciousness and turn me into something that is sinister.”  I can’t look at him while I continue. I focus on my feet, hoping to keep my breathing calm.  “Up until now, Cara has been the only one who is able to calm me down, that was…..until….you held me at my aunt’s.  That was the first time anyone was able to lower the flames without getting hurt. Normally I hurt someone, even when I am not meaning to….it makes me feel…..like there is evil living in there.”  

He gently moves my face so that I am looking at him, where I thought would be anger was only love and affection.  It gave me the strength to say what I finally wanted to say.  “I feel like I could go either way, if Reis gets me before Tuesday, he will mark and mate me, making my evil side rise within me, taking over my soul.  If you mark and mate me, my innocent, good side will rise, putting out the evil that is lurking within me.”  By now the tears were pouring down my face, nothing I could do would stop the waves of emotion enveloping my body.  I had held this fear inside of me for so long, with only Cara to share them with.  But now faced with the reality, that if Reis does by some chance get me, the part of me that I want to be, will disappear.  Chase pulled me into the warmth of his body, placing my head on his chest so that I could calm down to the beat of his heart.  

“You are mine angel, mine and only mine, I promise you with every inch of my being I will protect you.  No one will ever take you away from me.”  His voice was so soothing, along with the sound of his heartbeat I felt my body begin to relax.  He was tickling my arm, drawing small circles up and down.  I don’t think I could ever get used to the tingling sensation that our touch left in its wake.  “Our pack is the largest pack in the world, we personally oversee the training of our warriors.  If Reis or Leo..” you could hear the disgust in his voice, “Reis or Leo, take one step onto our land, they will die the death of a Rogue.”

By now Cara and Kai had gone for a walk, they obviously realised that we needed some alone time.  I feel myself being pulled up along Chase’s body till our faces were next to each other.  His lips suddenly crashing onto mine, there was no sweet and gentle, this was animalistic, raw, emotional.  He dominated my mouth, forcing his tongue into mine, searching every crevice.  He flipped us over so that he was now on top, I looked into his eyes, they were black, filled with desire, his wolf was now on the surface overtaking any human emotion.  He began grinding into me while licking and nipping up and down my neck.  The sensations were overwhelming, My mind became a blur filled with the animalistic raw need of each other’s touch.  He held me so tight, but I didn’t care, I wanted it to be tighter, I wanted more….

I was knocked into sense by the icey feel of the cool air on my upper body, I looked down to realise that I was now only in my bra..

“Chaaaasee..”

“Grrrrrrrooo….” you could hear the animal inside.

“The…..mating…...ceremon……..” I tried to stutter out between kisses.

He froze, I could hear him taking deep breaths, his fists were clenched as he tried to gain control over his wolf.  I lay there silently, desperately wanting it to continue but knowing that we had to wait.  Eventually his body relaxed..

“I am so sorry,” he whispered.  I just can’t control myself near you.  I could hear the sadness in his voice.  

I leaned over seductively “I am glad you can’t” I whisper in his ear, leaving little kisses down his jaw.  Tomorrow I am yours, yours only.”  

A low growl emerges from his chest “Em, you have to stop, I can’t control my wolf much longer.” I stop what I am doing and lean over to find my top, before I manage to even get it on I hear a loud splash.  I instantly turn around to see a very gorgeous, very naked Chase swimming in the lake.  

“I think I need to join him!”  I look up to see a very frustrated Kai emerge from the trees with my sister.  

Cara and I waited for him to jump in the water before we both cracked up laughing.
