Emily
I open my eyes slowly, a hint of one of the sun’s rays is peeking through my curtain, enough for me to see that although it is freezing cold and the ground is covered in snow, it is still a beautiful sunny day. I look over at the other bed in the room, Cara is sleeping peacefully, a sweet smile spread across her face as if she is having a wonderful dream. I decide against waking her, dreamland can be so magical, no one should be disturbed unless they have to. I decide to take a shower and get ready for the day.
While getting ready I process everything that happened yesterday. Meeting Chase, seeing the house I dreamed of was real, my first kiss…… An aching feeling begins between my legs as I remember how Chase held me and put so much raw emotion into that simple act. I hear from my family that Chase and Kai are tough and firm Alphas who do not show much emotion to anyone. The pack love and respect them but have never seen them show tenderness. Well I beg to differ, there was so much tenderness in that one kiss, more than I ever saw in my life at our other pack. I love the fact though that it's meant for me and me alone.
After our kiss, we stayed at their house for a while. Chase and Kai ordered pizzas and the four of us hung around, just chatting and getting to know each other better. It felt so normal as if this is the way it has always been. They brought us back by 8pm, my dad’s orders until the mating ceremony. I love the fact that my dad is still protective over us and would stand up to anyone for us, even another Alpha. He is the bravest man I know.
After throwing on some jeans and a warm wooly green top, I made my way downstairs. The mating ceremony was tomorrow and my mother, Shelley, and aunt Casey wanted to take us shopping for new dresses. I am not the biggest fan of shopping but I wanted to look beautiful for Chase. He was introducing me to his pack and I didn’t want to let him down. As I descended the stairs, the smell of my mate instantly hit me, he must have smelt me too because before I could reach the bottom of the steps, I was enveloped into two beautiful strong arms. He nuzzled his face into my neck, taking depth breaths. “I couldn’t sleep last night, all I kept thinking about was you” He whispered quietly into my ear. I could feel the blush rising on my face. Before I could respond, someone clearing their throat made me turn around. I was suddenly faced with my entire family as well as Chase’s staring at us. Never mind two squeaking voices running straight towards us. Chase and I were still attached, therefore we were both rugby tackled by my gorgeous little cousins.
“Emi, Emi, Emi” - they were screaming and laughing at the same time. I could never resist these two monsters. “You and Ca are mated to the Alpha and Beta!!! Yay we are so excited” I couldn’t stop laughing. No matter what these two did you couldn’t help but get caught up in their energetic little personalities.
“Come on you two’” my Aunt Casey came and dragged them off us. “Give your cousin and future Alpha a bit of space.”
“Sorry Alpha, Sorry Em!” They both sang together. Although one look at them and you could see that that was the most insincere apology anyone could give. The next minute they ran off, like a gust of wind. I have no idea how my aunt manages them.
Chase reached out his hand to help me up, I could see that he was just as amused as me by the twins. The sparks ignited just by our touch. We walked hand in hand towards the kitchen and sat down besides the family to eat breakfast. Cara walked in a few minutes later, much to the happiness of Kai. You could see the love and affection developing between those two.
“So we don’t want to take any chances with the two of you,” Chase’s mom Shelley was the first to speak. Low growls could be heard around the room. Shelley ignored them all and continued “We have therefore asked our dressmaker to come here to measure and fit your dresses for tomorrow. We have certain traditions in this pack…” You could see that Shelley was becoming a bit uncomfortable with the situation. Chase and Kai looked at her lovingly which encouraged her to continue. “That is to say, we have certain colours and designs that we like our Alpha and Beta females to wear…” She let her words hang in the air. Cara and I smiled at her “Whatever you want us to wear, we will. We trust your family, you have all been so wonderfully inviting, before you even knew that we were your son’s mates. The sign of a true Alpha and Luna. A big smile crossed over Shelley’s mouth. “We are so happy to hear that honey.” You could hear her sincerity in her voice. She turned towards her son’s. “Boys” she continued in a firm tone “you will need to leave after breakfast!”
“Grrrrrree” Chase and Kai were growling, we all knew it was reflex and not meant as anything towards their mother. Shelley just shrugged it off and continued. “I know you don’t want to leave your mates but we have to measure them up and choose the appropriate dresses. You are not allowed to see their outfits until the mating ceremony. I promise we will be done around Midday and then you can come and collect them. It will give you some time to plan something special for the afternoon’” She winked at them. I looked up to see that beautiful dimple smile on Chase’s face. I knew then that him and Kai were up to something and couldn’t wait to find out what it was.
After breakfast Kai and Chase left, but not before covering us with kisses and promising a wonderful afternoon. Shelley, my mom and Casey spent the entire morning ensuring that our dresses were perfect. It turns out that the colours that were expected suited us down to the ground. My dress was an emerald green, to match the Alpha’s eye colour. It was a simple, figure hugging off the shoulder dress that went down to my ankles, with a thing slit up the one side. Cara’s was ice blue, to match the eye colour of the Beta. It was a halter neck going down to her calf, I must say she looked exquisite. Even I get lost in the depth of her eyes, it always seems to hold something so pure, so natural. When I try to look deeper into mine, all I see are flames, that seems more evil than pure. Cara noticed my change in demeanor and slid her arm around my shoulder, just her warmth calmed me down. In our world, we never needed words.
