Chapter Seventeen

Chase 

It was around 8pm when Master Steven arrived at the house, Although he was over two hundred years old, you would never know it by looking at him.  He was tall, muscular with blonde hair.  He had pale green eyes that looked like they had seen too much.  Eyes always seem to tell their own story, his were the only clue to the life he had led.  I thank the Moon Goddess, that these men were blessed with a mate, now that I have met mine, I understand the importance of the bond.  We all stood and bowed in respect, he responded with a small nod as my father led him into the kitchen.  

“Coffee?” My mom held up a pot of freshly brewed coffee.  

“Yes, please” Master Steven responded while taking a seat opposite us.   Master Steven had always had a soft spot for my mom.  When he was a child he was best friends with her great  grandfather.  Losing him had been one of the greatest losses he had experienced.  He had followed up on his friends' children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, he always said that my brother was the spitting image of his dearest friend.  

After a few pleasantries he looked towards my father as he began to talk.  My father explained everything, from how Em’s dad was convinced they had staged the attack to get rid of their father, to trying to force the girls to mate with them.  I could feel my blood beginning to boil, just listening to what those arrogant wolves were going to do to my mate.  My mother must have noticed how Kai and I were feeling, so she gently stopped my dad with a light tap on his shoulder.  “The boys are finding this conversation difficult, do you think we need to get their mates to come and be here with them?”  My father looked up at her with so much love and affection.  

“As usual you are right my dear, it’s still early, why don’t you call James and Casey, they should be part of the conversation too.”  

Master Steven looked intently at my interactions between my parents and then moved his gaze across the room to us.  It was hard to tell what he was thinking, but nodded his head in agreement with my mother.  She quietly moved away, picked up her phone and began to chat to someone on the other end.  

It didn’t take long before there was a knock on the door, I am not sure who got to the door first, but within a minute I had my beautiful angel wrapped in my arms, my face nuzzled into her neck.  “Chase..” that gentle angelic voice turned my brain into marshmallows. 

“Mmmm” I whispered. Forgetting everything, where I was, who was here, it made no difference.

“There are lots of people staring at us.”  I look at her face to see it is the colour of a red rose, while her breathing was becoming more rapid, indicating that she was beginning to stress out.  

“I am sorry my love, I just needed to be near you so badly,” I quietly said into her ear.

I quickly spin her around so that she is next to me, my one arm around her torso, holding her close to me.  

“Master Steven, these are our mates, Emily and Cara Green, The  Witches of the Lavarose.”  I couldn’t help the smirk that was forming on my face.  

Master Steven gazed at the girls “It’s a pleasure to meet you young ladies.” he answered while taking each hand in his.  I couldn’t help the small growl that escaped my throat, but Master Steven seemed unfazed.  

“James, Casey!” He acknowledged before walking back to his seat.  

My father continued with his story, adding in the parts we had discussed with him tonight.  The girls added in some facts that were missing, as their father and mother had stayed home to look after the twins.  The girls spoke about how the young Alphas treated women in the dungeons and how they had even forced themselves on certain lower ranked she-wolves.  There were low growls all around the room.  Em didn’t seem to be too worried about it, she realised it was just from disgust.  In our pack women are treated with respect, no man can force himself on any woman, even a rogue or a prisoner.  Breaking this law comes with very severe consequences.  

“I need to contact the other Masters,” Master Steven spoke evenly, there was no emotion in his voice whatsoever.  “The mating ceremony cannot be interrupted tomorrow, it must go on as planned.  The Masters all need to be here to ensure that.  I looked over at my father, confusion on all our faces.  Master Steven must have picked up on it and began to explain himself further.  

“A war is approaching our kind, it has been foretold many hundreds of years ago.  Good versus evil, Roagues joining packs, packs not following the laws that keep our wolves more human than animal.  Wolves trying to enslave humans and take over the human world.” Gasps filled the air.  Master Steven ignored the noises and continued.  “It is stated:

Four wolves separated by spirit

Two with hearts as black as night

While the others made from the purest light

Two witches coveted by both

Hold the key to end the war

If taken by night -evil will have its reign of terror

If saved by a selfless wolf

Showing the Moon Goddess that love still exist amongst her people,

They will find their true mate

With hearts so pure

And goodness will reign for eternity.  

“Your mates are the key to our victory, I must meet your father,” He looks between our mates. “He is truly a great man.

I looked at my mate, her eyes were twinkling with so much love and affection, Her father is truly a selfless wolf.  Very few Wolves would’ve been brave enough to go against their alpha, even if it meant losing his daughters.  I would spend the rest of my life indebted to him.  

Casey and James agreed to leave and go and fetch my mate's father. Jonathan Green was a strong man, to the world he looked powerful and stern, almost unforgiving, but when you watched how he looked at his family, you realised how much he had sacrificed, you understood what lay behind that hard exterior.  

I am taken from my thoughts when I hear my fathers phone ringing.  I look up to see irritation edged on his face.  

“Yes, I am Alpha Richard of the Blood Moon Pack…….I see….,” I can feel his anger rising inside him, like a storm waiting to break free. He looks over at Master Steven, I realise they are mind linking each other.  The masters can mindlink any wolf, it does not matter what their rank is or if they belong to a pack.  

I can see my father fighting for control over his emotions, he is breathing while my mother draws small circles on his back, helping to calm him down.  

“Yes, they are here…,” I look up confused, my father is telling them that my mates are here, I am shocked.  “They have decided to change packs…….I understand that you are frustrated……,” I see Master Steven nodding, encouraging him to continue.  They must have come up with a plan together.  I begin to calm down, knowing that my father would never hurt my mates.  I pull Em closer to me, I can feel that she is stressing as well, not understanding what is going on “Don’t worry,” I whisper gently in her ear, “They have a plan, they will never give you up, I would never let them.”  She turns to me while I place small kisses around her jaw line.  

“I think a face to face conversation would be better…...no they have not been with any men…….they have been staying with their Aunt and Uncle……..You know Beta Jonathan, no one can get near them.”  I can hear that my father is struggling to keep an even voice.  “Yes of course you can use our air strip…..I will have my men meet you and your brother at the airport tomorrow morning…….You are welcome.”

I hear my father finish his conversation that I assume is with either Reis or Leo, just the mention of their name makes me sick to my core.  We all looked towards Master Steven and my father for answers at the same time Em’s father and mother walked through the front door,  looks of concern evident on their faces.  Em jumped up and ran straight into their arms.  Although I was upset by the loss of contact, I understood why they did.  They were family, they needed each other.  

Slowly her dad released her and her sister, guiding them back to Kai and myself, understanding and accepting that we were their mates and would never harm them.  

Master Steven began catching her parents up on everything that we had discussed.  He continued by explaining that they wanted to lure Reis and Leo away from their pack, while doing that some of the Masters would go and investigate what was happening there.  See if there was any base to the fact that they arranged to kill their father.  Reis and Leo will then be brought into the pack tomorrow and will face a group of Masters here.  The girls will have to speak out, as well as their parents.  A decision would then be made as to what their punishment will be.  Alpha Richard along with my brother and I would need to meet them at the landing strip and act as if everything was normal.  He did not want them to suspect anything until they could be secured.  

I realised that I was growling, I didn’t mean to, I pulled Em into an embrace as I could feel how upset she was by all of this.  Having to face them again was not going to be easy.  Our pack was strong and I knew we would have no problem securing them, even if the Masters were not here.  “I will be with you the entire time, no one will ever harm you.”  She curled into my chest, allowing herself to be calmed by the sound of my heartbeat.  “Can I stay with you tonight? I don’t want to be alone.” I looked down at my mate, silent tears were slipping down her cheeks. 

“Of course,” I replied tenderly, “I don’t want to be without you either.  I turned to face her father, I knew he had heard, and even though I already had agreed I wanted his approval.  He stared at me with a gentle expression, nodding his head.  I could see he did the same to Kai.  I slowly got up from the chair, guiding my mate with me towards the door.  The last thing I heard before closing the front door behind me was Master Steven telling us that the mating ceremony must still take place tomorrow.  There could be no negotiation on that.  

I secretly smiled, tomorrow, Emily would be all mine and no one would be able to take her away.
