One
Today was her wedding day but she was there. She stood on the garden wall looking at everything and everyone around her from a far distance. She was about to take a step to jump down when someone pulled her to the ground and they both fell to the ground.
They were on each other for a while. They looked into each other's each other's eyes and they were totally lost. His hands were on her waist and her's on his chest. Just then,they felt drawn to each other.
"Valeria!" Nanny Saphie called out to her breaking the silence and they both stood up from the ground.
"I'm sorry your majesty, but I was only trying to stop you from your intentions." Ryan apologized.
" Thank you Ryan." Nanny Saphie said and turned to Valeria " Come now, let's get you ready for the wedding" She said and held Valeria's hand intending to take her inside. But Valeria stood with a firm grip and it was noticed by Nanny Saphie.
She stood very firmly looking at Ryan. She was obviously hesitant in following Nanny Saphie.
"Valeria, let's go, now!" she commanded her and Valeria followed her inside.
The maids were dressing Valeria up for the wedding with little assistance from Nanny Saphie. Valeria was very absent minded, she was not aware of her surrounding she was totally lost in thought. Nanny Saphie noticing her absenteeism, she felt the need to talk to her.
"Girls, please leave us,I can take it from here." She said and the maids left.
Immediately Valeria saw the maids leaving, she came back to her senses
"Why are they leaving Nanny?" she asked her
"I told them to. And, you wouldn't have noticed since you were so lost" Nanny Saphie replied and sat down on the bed with her.
"What is the matter dear?, I raised you and I know when you are distressed. Please tell me what is bothering you so I can help you" She pleaded with Valeria to confine in her. And Valeria seeing her as a mother figure, didn't feel weird to do so.
"Nanny, this is wrong....why am I being forced to get married to someone I do not know?" She complained
"Valeria, please try to understand the situation. I know it is an arranged marriage and you are not ready for this, but you just have to do it."Nanny Saphie said
"But Nanny,why didn't father think about my feelings before arranging a marriage for me.... his only daughter.... his Last child?" Valeria complained more
"I am very sorry about your situation dear, but you have to choose, either you marry the king and learn to love him or you don't and be abandoned by your family and never go home." Nanny Saphie said trying to convince her.
"But..." Valeria was about to complain further but Nanny Saphie interrupted her
"No buts, just wear your veil and wait for me outside" Nanny Saphie said and entered the bathroom while Valeria waited outside for Nanny Saphie.
Just as she was waiting outside the room, Ryan walked up to her.
"Hello your majesty" He said
"Hello there Ryan" she said
"Congratulations on your wedding" He said but he wasn't looking so happy about it
"I'm not married yet" she said
"Your majesty, there's something I will like to tell you" He said. He had gathered enough courage and was ready to confess his feelings for her but just as he was about to say a word the maids said to her
"Your majesty, it's time"
"Just in time, I'm ready" Nanny Saphie added and Valeria turned to Ryan in disappointment.
"Maybe another time Ryan. I have to go"She said and he watched her leave with Nanny Saphie and the maids.
He was truly disappointed, he was so ready to confess his feelings for her but looks like fate was not in support.
