"Mama, mama where are you?" I asked looking for my mother. "Over here Charlie." My mother said standing in the kitchen preparing lunch. "Mama look, I found this book in my room and it looks funny. Why don't these women were clothes?" I asked as I pointed to the blond on the 3 page. She was posing in a way that made sure you saw more than you wanted to. "Oh my! Sweetie please give me that." My mother exclaimed when she saw the book. "Mama, did this book scare you?" I asked. How was a preschooler suppose to know what porn magazines was, not to mention looked like?  "Yes my dear girl, that is indeed a scary book and one that you should bring to me as soon as you find them ok? There are big monsters in these books and I don't want you to end up having nightmares. Understand?" My mother said taking the book from me. "Ok mama, I understand." I said and gave my mother a hug.  Later during the day my sister Kim and I were playing in the garden when we heard my father shouting at my mother and my little brother Trace ran out side as fast as those little legs could take him. He was crying. Kim and I ran to Trace to try and help. "What are you implying woman?!" My father shouted. "Lower your voice, you will scare the kids." my mom said moving into view at the window. "I don't give a s**t if I scare them or not! What the f**k are you implying I did in Charlotte's room?" My father shouted again. "Papa fight mama." Trace said as he stopped crying but still watching the stillhouse of our father at the window. "No, Trace, papa just has a sore tummy and he wants mama to help take away the pain, just like she did when your toe hurt." I said to Trace. "OK" Trace said. Kim on the other hand was not convinced what so ever. She kept staring at the window with a look that was unfamiliar to me.  "Papa?" Trace asked as we sat at the dinner table. "Yes my boy?" My father said looking up from his news paper. "You tummy better now?" Trace asked. "My tummy?" My father asked him looking over to me in disbelieve. "Yes papa, your tummy was hurting when you asked mama to help take away the pain" I said straight faced hoping my father would agree and put my brother's nerves at ease. "Oh yes, that's right. Your mama helped me get rid of the pain and now my tummy is hungry." My father said facing my little brother. "OK." Trace said looking pleased with that answer.  "What do you think your doing?" I heard my mother ask at my door. "Nothing..." I heard my father say in a panicked voice moving from where he was and he's belt fell on the floor near my dresser. "I'll ask you again Gordan. What. Are. You. Doing.?" My mother said and she sounded angry. "I said nothing woman. Since when can't I watch my daughter sleep?" My father asked but something felt wrong. My legs where bear and my panties were slipped down my legs. "You, stay away form Charlotte or I'll..." "Or you'll what woman?" My father interrupted before my mother could finish what she was saying. "You'll regret what ever it is that you think you are doing to her Gordan. If you lay a hand on her I'll make sure you can't touch a soul ever again. Do you understand me 'husband'" my mom said spitting out the last word as if it was acid or poison. "Understood Clare" Was all my father could say. "Good morning dear, how did you sleep?" My mother asked when I entered the kitchen. "Morning mama, it was OK. How did you sleep?" I asked my mother. "Very well thank you my dear. Here you go, please try to finish you plate today sweetheart. You will need all the energy you can get today. Would you like me to bring you a red juice while you get a break with tennis?" My mother asked while she gave my the regular breakfast for a sports day. "Yes please mama." I said and took the first bite of bacon.  "Alright young lady. Do you have everything?" My mother asked as she looked from me to my brother. "Yes mama." Kim, Trace and I said at the same time. "Good, say good-bye to daddy before we go." My mother said not looking at my father. "Bye papa" We said. "Bye bye you lot, Charlotte good luck with you tennis today. Kim, don't bite anyone today. Trace, be a good boy and help aunt Jacky OK? Love you all." My dad said to each of us in turn so we waved as we left the driveway to start the very busy day we all had ahead of us.
