Chapter 21 Marcus didn’t have much time. He was running through the house, stumbling. He saw the gun sitting on the kitchen table but ignored it – it was too far away. He pushed the door open and fell through it, feeling the cool air wrapping itself around him. He made his way down the sidewalk, still stumbling, and then reached the Bronco. He pulled himself around it and turned the key in the ignition. The old vehicle chugged once. He turned the key over, listening to it, praying that it would start.
