Stalked By The Darkness

"What are you going to do about it little boy? You want to go tell mummy and daddy? Well go ahead little devil." He taunts.

I shake my head no and keep the tears in. My leg is filled with scratches. For a seven year old child I have a lot of resistance. The worst part is that I am being tortured by a man I was supposed to call father.

He comes closer to me and slaps me.

"You are a disgrace you filthy piece of sh!t now get out of my sight."

I nod my head and run out of the house with tears streaming down my face. I head over to the park to watch all the kids play with their parents or siblings. I was so lost in thought I never hear tiny little footsteps coming towards me.

"Hi." She squeaks.

I look at her and I can't help but smile.

"Hi what's your name?"

She looks down shyly and mumbles what sounded like

'Aurora'

"That's a beautiful name."

She looks up with happiness in her eyes.

"You really think so? All my fwends tease me fow having a Pw-princess name."

I move closer to her and stand up. She is only shorter than me by a few inches.

"Don't worry Aurora that's a beautiful name and they are all just jealous."

She smiles at me and my breath is taken away. She hugs me and I feel so warm.

"Thank you."

I nod my head and look at the sky and watch it get darker.

"Wait what’s your nwame?"

"Aurora! Where are you sweetie?" I hear someone call her. She turns around and looks back at me.

"My name is—."

"Aurora!"

She turns her head to watch a women looking around frantically. When she is about to turn I take a necklace out of my pocket and give it to her.

"Take this. I will see you again." I promised.

She looks at the necklace and smiles with her eyes twinkling. She pecks my cheek and runs away.

She is beautiful.

She is my future.

She is the reason I am going to fight.

Her smile is the reason I am going to win the battle against my father.

After all I had promised her to see her again and I have given the one last thing my mother had given me.

"Give it to the girl you love baby boy."

I will live.
