I saw the guy pale further and he ran out of the door, the smell of his fear lingering in the room as the door banged shut behind him.

“What the hell was that?” Anna asked me

“He looked at you” I said simply, as if that explained everything

“Are you kidding me?” Anna asked

She was still leaning against me and I bent over her and smelled her hair. Her scent immediately calmed me down and even though I still felt heated, I felt like her being beside me helped me centre myself.

“I’m never like this but the way he looked at you...he’s lucky he’s still alive” I said before I kissed her forehead

I felt her stiffen beside me but I helped guide her to the bed before bringing over the plate of food to her. I saw her look at me cautiously from the corner of her eyes but I didn’t care. I smiled at her before encouraging her to try some of my scrambled egg.
