Savannah
“I can’t believe we are sitting here, waiting on that guy!” Tara exclaimed when Jason walked away
I sighed and turned to look at her even though my eyes drifted back to where Jason was walking towards the lift. He told us his sister had called and he was going to his room to fetch a couple of things and make a quick call.
“Anna! Stop drooling over him and talk to me! I’m legit shitting myself here!” Tara hissed
I shook my head and was just about to say sorry when a female waitress in a classy, smart, white button shirt and black skirt approached our table. I was surprised as she put down the try full of goodies. As she placed my chocolate torte and chai latte in front of me, I smiled. Tara had picked a lemon and rhubarb pastry of some kind with a pot of tea but; I was even more surprised when I saw her put down a pot of coffee, a rather large but mouth-watering flaky savoury pastry of some kind; plus two cokes. The pastry was warm and I assumed, filled with some kind of meat and even though we had had some food earlier, my mouth watered at the thought of having a small bite. There was a generous portion of a salad and a crust bread and a small pot of butter beside it.
“Thanks” I said to the waitress who smiled and walked away
“Anna” Tara said quietly “You said you would tell me”
“I think….he may be mine” I say quietly
“Your what?” Tara asked, puzzled
“My Tanniem” I whisper to her
“What!” Tara almost shrieks
“SSsshhhhhh! Tara for god’s sake!” I reprimand her
The few others in the cafe turned to look at us but went back to their business. Tara covered her mouth, her eyes wide; her body shaking.
“Your Tanniem! Are you sure? I mean, would you even know?! I thought an elder had to tell you if he was or wasn’t” Tara asked in a rush
“I...i’m mostly sure. The sparks I felt….that’s why I agreed to come here. The description that Deedee described….it’s there” I explained
“But Anna, High witches don’t often find their Tanniem until much later in life. When you are not just officially a high witch, but also have gained power and experience. I mean, Deedee didn’t find her’s until she was almost 50!” Tara rushed out
“I know. That’s why part of me hesitated. But, the sparks, the feeling and…..the vision I got-”
“You got a vision!” Tara almost shouted again
“If you keep shouting, we are going to get thrown out” I said calmly
“You have to call Deedee! Right now!” Tara said as she pulled out her phone
I knew she was right, but I still hesitated. I didn’t want to make that call because if I did….my life was going to change. Everything would become different. Tara shoved the phone into my hands and started to enjoy her feast as I looked at the phone and saw that it was already connected to Deedee
“Hey mum” I say
“Anna. Tell me” She softly encouraged
“I...uh...I” I stammered “Well, I -” I cut off, unsure how to continue
“Talk to me as I am Deedee and not your mum” She said
“I...think I may have found my Tanniem, but I’m not sure as he didn’t react in anyway except to say mate but I felt these sparks and I got a small vision but wasn’t really a vision so now i’m here with him at his hotel cafe but not sure if I should be but i don’t know if I want to leave him either” I said in one breath and in a rush
“Oh my” Deedee said “I had thought this would happen, but so soon”
“Wait, what? You knew this was going to happen?” I asked, shocked
“Anna, come home and I will explain. But if what you said is true, then life as you know it, is about to change” Deedee sighed
“Please tell me something. I’m kinda freaking out here” I said
“As you know, witches don’t have soulmates. We have starsouls, a partner who helps us grow equally within our powers. A magickal connection. Only a high witch can have a Tanniem. As you know; a Tanniem is not just a starsoul but one who is able to change his or her partner into whatever being they are which not just enhances the high witches power but can also transform them into a different physical entity” Deedee explained
“Yes” I said
“A Tanniem partner is only granted to a high witch Anna. One who has lived long enough, learned enough to be blessed with a partner as she or he is then ready to take the next step. Often it means a higher purpose regarding their coven. In my case, finding you” Deedee said fondly
“But you lost your Tanniem the day you decided to keep me” I voiced “How could that have been a blessing?”
“Oh my darling. The day I saw you, I knew that the vision I had before meeting my Tanniem would come true. He knew you would come first my love” Deedee said emotionally “I was blessed to have him in my life for the ten years that I had him. And blessed to have you for the rest”
“But I don’t get a magickal feel from him” I explain
“It doesn’t have to be magickal Anna. The fact that you found him while under a powerful cloaking spell tells me there more to this than we think. Tanniem often doesn’t come into our lives until you have become a high witch. Not only is there much for you to still learn but you have yet to be selected as a high witch” Deede explained “Now, tell me about this vision”
“Well” I start “We are in a forest and this lady who I don’t know; is there. She tells me that she knows that it seems early but to trust the stars and the moon. Then it changes and he, Jason; he walks out to me and uh...well...he kisses me. But then I scream and there’s blood on my neck and he says now it’s done, and that I am changed. When I turn to the woman, her eyes are glowing and she tells me that I am worthy and part of the next step to right the wrong that has been done”
“I see” Deedee said quietly
“What does it mean mum?” I ask her
“I will confirm with the council. Come home and if you can; bring him with you” Deedee said
“Bring him with me?!” I asked, shocked even more
“At some point, you will meet him again. Isn’t it better to know now? You will be forlorn without him darling. They come into our lives for a reason” Deedee explained
“But...but I’m not even a high witch yet!” I said, shocked at this
“Then maybe we need to rectify that” Deedee said quietly
My mouth opened and closed in shock, unsure what I heard was correct. All that time, Tara had been munching away while her eyes stayed on me. I heard Deedee tell me the best way forward and I remember replying; and I must have said the right stuff because she sounded happy with my responses before hanging up.
“Well?” Tara asked as soon as I gave her the mobile back
“I think I’m about to be promoted to a high witch” I say in a shocked and quiet voice

Jason
I walked towards the girls at the cafe, my mind still whittling and buzzing with what Kai had said. If I kill Celine….I kill Kai. If I hurt her, I weaken him
What the f**k?
When I had tried to ask Kai for more information, he had simply given the phone to Sophie and had told them he needed to think. What three year old says that? And what has he got to think about? Sophie had told me Kai had walked away and that he was in the ‘zone’ a place where Kai sits down quietly and seems to zone out or meditate. Either way, no-one can wake him up until he is ready to be woken and sometimes that could be hours.
I saw Anna put the phone down and reach of her drink just as I get to the table
“Hey” I greet them “Glad to see the food is here”
They startle before looking at me as I take the seat opposite Anna and smile as I see my still warm pastry. I want to scoff it down but I need to impress these girls so I use the knife and fork to cut it open. The smell of beef, gravy and vegetables hit my nose and my mouth waters. I put a piece of it in my mouth and was about to stab some salad when I saw the sly way Anna looked at my pastry. I cut a small piece and offered it to her, the fork near her mouth. What the hell was I doing? Just when I thought about taking it away and cracking a joke so I wouldn’t come off as a creep; she looked at me shyly and leaned over slightly before opening her mouth and taking the pastry.
I almost shot off my chair at the way her lips closed over my fork and when she moaned in pleasure; that sound went straight to my c**k and I almost winced from how hard and painful it became. Dear goddess! If that’s how she moaned when eating food; I can’t wait to find out how she will moan when it me eating her out. Or When I take my hard c**k and shove - s**t! I breath in a breath of air and Anna looks at me, her cheeks heating up as she realizes how sensual she sounded. I cut another piece, my eyes still on Anna’s face; and offered her another bite.
“But it’s yours” Anna whispered
“I don’t mind sharing” I answer quietly
Her eyes light up in surprise and she nods before taking the pastry and I swear I almost c*m in my pants. f**k! She’s so sensual, I don’t think she even realises how much so. When I cut the third piece for her, she shakes her head and I take that one and eat it, my appetite not as strong as before. I offer her my salad by turning the plate her way and she smiles at me before stealing a long cucumber and pops it into her mouth. I clear my throat and try to readjust myself without making it obvious and reach to take a long cold drink of coke.
“So erm...what do you think? I know this place tends to be busy” I say, trying to break the ice
“Oh, its so good. We actually were thinking of coming here when we walked past it” Anna said with a smile
Damn, her face lights up when she smiles like that. Even her eyes smile. Suddenly, she offers me a piece of her chocolate torte and I freeze, looking at the innocent and friendly way she offered me her food. As a shifter, a male will hunt and present the food to his mate. Doing so, is his way in letting her know that he will protect her and take care of her. For the female to offer her own food is a sign that not only does she trust him, but she accepts his offering of intention - to mate. Unknowingly, I had offered to mate her. s**t! When I saw her eyes dull a little at my hesitation and moved her hand back; her embarrassment clear on her face. I had unintentionally hurt her. I didn’t question why my heart hurt at that thought or why I so desperately wanted to reassure her; I just held her wrist steady as I took the sweet confection into my mouth and groaned at the explosion of flavour on my tongue.
She blushed harder and I knew I was in trouble. I had to fight my beast very hard because all I wanted to do was throw her on that table and ravish her. I wanted to taste those plump lips and find out if she was as wet for me as I was hard for her. We both broke apart when the waitress came over took the empty plates away from Tara who was smiling at us.
“Erm, would you like to taste some?” I asked her, pushing my plate her way
“No, no. I’m good thanks” She said with amusement.
I tried to change the subject as we spoke about the things I had tried here, what I liked and what the girls enjoyed. Before long, not only had the food been demolished, the drinks all finished; but I felt more calmer, more at ease with them and for the first time after a long time; I didn’t think about Celine. Maybe that wasn’t a good thing; I didn’t deserves to be this happy while my family was dead and buried because of my selfish deeds
“So, now that you know that I’m not a creep-”
“Do we know that?” Tara cut in, laughingly
“Well I hope so. The offer to speak to my nephew is still there” I joked back.
“The three year old nephew” Anna said
“Right. So, if you girls would like, since we are both going to Belfast; would you like to come with me in my car? I don’t mind dropping you off where you need to go” I say
While Anna and Tara both exchanged a look, I smiled and took the last sip of my warm coffee and made eyes with the waitress to let her know we were done. When she came over and started to clear it up, I let her know to charge it to my room. When the girls started to fuss over payment, I expressed my concern at not being a gentleman if I hadn’t paid for it and advised that they could confirm with family about their safety and prompted to call Sophie again
“Two calls in one day! I’m shocked!” Sophie said
“Hey erm, Soph. I’m here with a couple of new friends who just want to know I’m not some creep. Do you think you can speak to them?” I said, hoping she wouldn’t let me down
“Friends? Really? Sure” Sophie said
“Great. I’m going to put you on speaker” I put the phone down and let the girls hear her voice
“Hi, I’m Sophie. Jason’s...sister. Who’s this?” Sophie asked
“I, erm. I’m Anna and I have a friend with me called Tara. I erm...not sure what I’m meant to say” Anna said, embarrassed
Sophie laughed as she reassured them I wasn’t an evil man about to chop them up. She told them about Kai and how he was sleeping just now and even gave Anna her own mobile number if she wanted to ask a question about me when I wasn’t there. Anna seemed to find that funny and before I knew it, we had all been speaking for almost twenty minutes and both the girls looked relaxed. When we all got up, Anna and Tara had decided to leave tomorrow at the original agreed check out time and to meet me back here for breakfast before we drove to Belfast. As I walked the girls out, I timed it so they couldn’t tell when I slipped a tracker into three different shopping bags. I wanted to lean over and hug Anna, but knew that if I did that; there was a chance I wouldn’t let her go.
“So is eleven am ok for you?” Anna checked once more
“Honestly it’s perfect. The breakfast here is pretty good. We can head out straight after and make good time” I encouraged
“Great” Tara said “Well, guess I will see you tomorrow” Saying that, she takes out her phone and looks at me “well, I’m gonna just stand there and call my dad. Anna I’ll wait for you outside”
Anna blushes furiously and once again I wonder how far down that blush travels. She fidgets with her hair and once again I feel like she isn’t really a blonde and would suit a darker colour.
“Thanks for the desserts and coffee. It really was worth it and just as good as you said” Anna said
“Your welcome. I’m glad you were able to try it” I say. I lean over to hug her and slip another small tracker into her jacket pocket. “I really enjoyed it...more so the company”
“We both had a good time too” Anna says with a smile “Tara loved the pastry she got. She’s going to go on about that for days
“Did you like yours?” I asked her, my hand lingering on her elbow before sliding down to capture her hand
Sparks erupted up and down my arm and judging by Anna’s face, she was feeling something too; which was strange considering she wasn’t a wolf. Tolken growled in my head and wanted me to pull her to me, carry her in my arms and take her to my room where I would continue to take her over and over again.
“I did. But” Anna cut off
“But?” I asked, frowning at the thought that she wasn’t happy
“I liked the pastry more” Anna whispered, shyly ducking her head
My heart galloped at her words and a possessive growl escaped my throat. Anna’s eyes widened at the sound and without thought or caution; I leaned in
“I did too” I whispered
And I bruised my lips against hers. The taste of Chocolate, coffee and a hint of strawberries exploded on my tongue and I deepened the kiss, my arms pulling her closer to me. She dropped the rest of the bags as her arms came around my neck and she opened her mouth further for my kiss. I felt myself grow harder and rubbed against her and I could feel her body open up to me, soft as if she wanted to melt into me. The kiss turned carnal and just as I thought about picking her up and taking her to my room, I heard a cough before a very obvious clearing of the throat. When I break the kiss, Anna has her eyes closed, her breathing is ragged and I’m sporting the biggest hard-on ever. My jeans are uncomfortable and I can feel heat infusing my body as I try to capture my breath.
“I think Anna needs some fresh air” I hear Tara say in amusement
Anna’s eyes snap open and she blushes again, biting her bottom lip. I smile at her tenderly, my thumb stroking her bottom lip. I quickly place a fleeting kiss on her moist lips and her eyes once again shine up at me.
“She’s not the only one” I say to Tara
I step back from Anna, my body objecting at my movement even as my wolf growls with anger at me. I smile at her, my hand still locked with hers. She picks up the fallen bags and huffs out a breath; her eyes returning to mine before moving away.
“I...I guess we will see you tomorrow” Anna says in a puff
“Yeah” I smile
When she goes to pull away, she notices our right hand in each others and looks up at me with wonder. How could this beautiful girl not know how amazing she was. The surprise in her eyes wasn’t from our hands, but as if she couldn’t believe I was holding it. I smiled again and reluctantly let her go, our hands breaking as if in a romantic movie. My fingers itched to grab her again but I stepped back and watched as she grabbed her bags and walked out with Tara. I willed her to turn around again, to look at me. My wolf was chomping at me to go to her, to tell her the truth but I couldn’t...I couldn’t because the truth was, even though I wanted her; I wanted Celine more. I wanted to avenge my family. I wanted -
Shit! She turned around and smiled at me, blushing. My heart once again hammered against my chest and I subconsciously took a step forward before she waved and was out of sight.
Should have gone to mate Tolken said in anger
Shes not our mate. Our mate is dead and buried I reminded him
Kai said she is out mate Tolken replied back
Kai is Three. He’s wrong I said, gritting my teeth
Not wrong. Wise. Blessed Tolken growled back
I block him out. Caging him in as I turned around and went back to my room, my thoughts on the trackers. Hoping the girls wouldn’t run. As I go into my room, I quickly start packing everything away except my toiletries, at a loss on what to do now that I had them where I wanted them. After three years, I finally got a break!

Deedee
I sigh as I hang up the phone, looking at my mobile with sadness as I knew the time was near. I always told myself that tomorrow I will tell her; I will tell her the truth. But something would happen and tomorrow would never come
“What’s wrong Deedee?”
I turn towards the voice and see another witch, Zelda and smile at her, shaking my head
“Remember I told you that one day, I will lose her” I say, not needing to name names “I think that day is near”
“Oh...but not yet surely. She’s not even a high witch and you-”
Again I cut her off as I sit down on my cushioned chair and heave a deep sigh
“I should have told her the truth. I should have explained both my visions. You always told me to but I….After losing my Tanniem, my david. I just...couldn’t lose her too” I sigh “But it seems like I have no choice.”
Looking at Zelda, I get up again and walk towards my bookcase beside her and pull out the scriptures hidden in the fake wall behind it.
“It seems that she has found not just her Tanniem but also her mate” I say quietly
“Her mate?!” Zelda says in shock “but then that means-” She cuts off and swallows
“She doesn’t realise it of course. Her innocent mind not processing everything that has been asked of her” I say as I read the words and once again take in the words that were given to me long ago on that fateful day when I found my sweet Savannah
“M...maybe it won’t matter. If we read the spell to-” Zelda tried to reason
“It’s too late. She’s had a vision. Her first vision. And she doesn’t realise it, but she has been selected to be his mate. To end it all and yet, to help it all continue” I said with a wary breath.
“By who? No-one knows the truth except you and I and of course david who is no longer with us!” Zelda asked in fright
“It’s too late Zelda. You are clutching at straws. Her vision..she...Zelda, she spoke to the moon goddess who addressed her with that message. She has been chosen and there is nothing we can do about it. The time has come let her...fulfil her destiny” I say, tears gathering in my eyes
“To let her die you mean! Deedee, we have to do something! This can’t be how it ends” Zelda says urgently, sitting beside me
“We have no choice. This was prophesied long ago. I took her; knowing she wasn’t mine. That I could lose her one day. I just assumed it would be when she was over forty. Not in her twenties” I say as a headache starts to come on.
The silence in the room is louder than ever as I feel my heart constrict; knowing that what was to come would be big. For I have secrets; kept secrets from everyone. From Anna. Secrets that could kill.
Secrets that could get her killed…….by her very own mate
