I wasn’t wanted. Did he regret what happened between us? I pulled on my clothes, and almost felt disgusting and unclean right after it. I quickly towelled my hair dry as much as I could while Jason had his back to me.

“I don’t think that’s needed Sophie” Jason said “I’m sure it’s not as urgent as-”

He cut off. Clearly someone else was in charge because Jason stayed quiet for a while before agreeing and hanging up. When he turned around to look at me, I saw the look of surprise at my being dressed before his face went blank

“Yea uh, I need to change” He said, clearing his throat before he turned around and went to his suitcase to pull out his clothes from it.

That’s it? He wasn’t going to explain? Wasn’t going to talk to me? What happened?

I saw his hand moving in front of my eyes as he tried to gain my attention.

“Oh” I said “Sorry”

“It’s ok. You uh...ready to go?” He asked, not meeting my eyes

“Yeah” I said, blushing

He picked up his car keys and I winced when my shoes pinched my feet a little. God! I would kill for some flats right now! We go into the elevator and he doesn’t hold my hand. In fact, he doesn’t even seem like he is with me. His head is somewhere else. I try to not cry, my eyes watering at how low I’m feeling. Once we get to reception, I duck my head; so embarrassed to be seen with clearly wrinkled clothes, doing the walk of shame two days later!

We walked in silence to the car and even the drive felt tense, uncomfortable. I felt like an i***t! He clearly regretted what happened between us and felt like he didn’t want to be with me. That twenty five minute journey from the hotel to my house was torture. He only asked me if the temperature in the car was ok and if I wanted anything before he dropped me off. I only shook my head and looked out the window, willing the time away.

How could our two amazing nights, three if you count our date; go from being magical to this? Before long, we are driving up to my house and he barely manages to stop the car when I open the door and walk out briskly. I hear him call my name but I don’t want to know. I feel like s**t!

Opening the door, I walk in just as Deedee comes towards me. She looks outside at Jason as I sprint up the stairs. Walking into my room, I lock my door; pull off the clothes and drop them as I walk into the shower. I had to get clean! I had to! I felt disgusted. I felt like ants were crawling up my skin. I turn on the shower to scalding hot and scrubbing away at my skin.

When Anna didn’t look back at me, I knew I had f****d up. Ever since that call from Sophie; my head’s been all over the place. She had phoned to tell me that Kai told her that both he and the Moon Goddess had been glad I had started to accept that Anna was my mate.

I see the witch come out of the house as she looks back worriedly after Anna and I shuffle my feet. I itched to back to the hotel. Not only was I surprised I hadn’t been kicked out of the hotel but I had to get it cleaned out. Sophie told me that she, Simon and Kai were on their way. Why? “Was there a reason my daughter was in tears after spending three days with you Alpha?” She asked me

Turning around, I start to walk away. My anger at myself, at Celine and frustration at Anna’s actions; causing me to be agitated.

“Don’t come back here until you are ready to apologise to her” Deedee said

I whip around to look at her, my eyes darkening; my chest moving with deep breaths.

“Stay out of it. It doesn’t concern you” I growl out

“Everything about her concerns me” Deedee bit back

“That’s a nice way to thank Anna for helping you lot with Celine” Deedee said

“WHAT?” I shout, taking a step forward

“Goodbye alpha” Deedee said before slamming the door in my face

“What do you mean?! Deedee!! Open this door right f*****g now!” I shouted as I banged the door.

The door barely shook, never mind crack under my strength. I banged it again, demanding she come out. What the f**k did she mean? Anna helped us? How?

I lifted my fist to bang the door again but before I even made contact with the door; I was flung backwards, sailing through the air before falling on my back onto the damp grass. What the f**k just happened? I lay there, winded as I tried to process everything that was going on; my mind a s**t-fest with my thoughts

Deedee

I paced up and down in my reading room, my thoughts all over the place as I waited for Anna to come downstairs. It was almost dinner time but neither one of us was hungry. The alpha had ranted and raved for three hours before I made it clear he wouldn't get answers until he calmed down. With a few more threats; I had gotten him to leave.                                                                                                                                                                                    When Anna had come down and I see how red her skin had been from her shower, I knew what had happened and I knew then that I had to tell her and tell her soon

“Deedee?” Anna said

I looked at her and smiled. I motioned for her to come in and sat her down on the sofa before giving her a cup of tea. When she didn’t want to drink it, I insisted. It had a mild sedative in it. She would need it.

“I can’t..any more” Anna said as she put the cup of tea down

Looking into the cup, I saw she had drunk at least half and that was good enough for just now.

“Anna, what happened?” I asked her

She shook her head, tears spilling before falling off from her chin. I hug her as she sobs, her body shaking with her despair. After a few more minutes, she hiccups and sniffs before whipping her eyes with the back of her hand.

“I guess I was just an easy lay. He...changed after we...you know” Anna said, blushing

I nodded, running my hand down her hair which had been tied up in a loose bun.

“Was something said?” I asked her

“No. His sister called and he just changed. I don’t know why. I don’t know what was said but he seemed tense. Then like he...he didn’t...want me to..to be...there” Anna said with fresh tears leaking again

“Anna...love” I sigh.

I sit beside her and take her hand in mine and open my mouth. The words stick in my throat and I can’t get them out. I try again and again, they stick. I take a deep breath and try to focus my breathing. I know Anna is frowning because she has never seen me like this but she is patient

“Anna, I have something to confess to. Something I did which affected you; but love. I did it to protect you. Had I not done that then today may have had a different outcome” I explain

“I don’t understand. What did you do?”

“Please know I did it for your protection” I stressed

“Deedee. I know you. You would n’t have done anything to hurt me” Anna said, gripping my hands

“Keep remembering that when I tell you this” I say, taking a deep breath “The ex-high witch, Celine….Three years ago, she did something despicable, unnatural and wrong. She broke the vows of trinity. As you know, the vows of trinity are three. We will not delve into black magick, we will not consort with demons and we will always use magick for the greater good to keep balance in the world”

“Anna nodded, encouraging me to go on

“Celine broke all three. In her madness for greed and power, she took the mate and unborn pup of an alpha and used them in a sacrificial ritual”

“You mean a werewolf alpha?” Anna gasped

“Yes” I nodded “She tried to create an unholy bond with her deceased child who she had brought back from the dead”

Anna gasped, her face paling. I understood why. To do such an act meant she had decided to commit these monstrous actions. You couldn’t be forced into black magick, and even then; things don’t work if your heart is truly not into it. It also meant that Celine had clearly killed someone else because in order to do the ritual and reanimate the dead body in the first place; you needed to perform a blood sacrifice

“Oh god! How many she must have killed to do that!” Anna said with disgust.

“Yes. I can only imagine. Our coven was alerted of her action by a powerful seer and healer in London. It seemed that this female, Tasha and her pup were caught in a web of lies with Celine. Tasha wasn’t fully innocent; she had greed in her heart and she did every evil things Celine advised her to do...including sacrificing her unborn pup to demons” I explained

“Nnoooooo” Anna gasped

“Yes. In the end, Celine used the poor girl and took the soul of her unborn pup; ripping it from her stomach….to use for her own sick games. After she did that; with the help of some unsavoury people; she kidnapped the supreme; Sophie”

Anna gasped louder. I had explained to her who the supreme was after whipping out her memory in case she was needed again and had to know who Sophie was

“Sophie, along with some of her pack members, were kept in Wales as she tried to create another bargain with the devil. Now as you know; she was defeated” I said, going on after Anna nodded “But before she was; Celine needed another few lower level witches to help and so…..three other along with you; were sent to infiltrate and work against her”

“What?” Anna said “No...no Deedee; I never did that”

“You did...you did Anna..listen to me!” I insisted when she shook her head again “You did. But you didn’t go alone. Zelda, Tim and Leon also went along with three other younglings. You were tasked by Celine to help take bloods and do small jobs. From our side you were warned not to show your hand, to do any intricate or complex spells. We had to keep you hidden and so a cloaking spell was put on you. You worked under Celine enough for her to use you for bigger tasks”

“I...I don’t-” Anna shook her head again

“It was my fault” I whispered

“What was?” Anna asked me

“Celine was being too aggressive with her daughter and you decided to confront her after taking bloods. I couldn’t lose you….I knew exactly when you decided to challenge her. Thank god Celine hadn’t been in the room when you turned away from the plan!” I said with a rush, my voice breaking “I couldn’t lose you too. I warned you not to challenge her but you had decided to help the wolves fight. Their own seer couldn’t be there as she kept a different alpha female safe. You wanted to step up and I couldn’t let you”

“What did you do?” Anna asked me, doubt and worry marring her face

“I….I took over Leon’s body when he entered the room you were in and warned you again not to join the battle but you were adamant to help them...so I…..” I cut off before blowing a breath of air out “I used the Dis-boud spell on you and whipped your memory of the event. I then recast the spell so you would remember the original plan and I took away your desire to help”

“You WHAT?” Anna asked, her face red with anger

“Anna-” I was cut off

“H..How could you do that?! Why would you do that? You must have knocked me out very well with that spell because I don’t remember anything! Why? WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?” Anna shouted

“It was the only way I could think of to save you. I couldn’t lose you too! I was selfish. But it worked….kinde of” I said

“Kind of?” Anna asked

“As you all were leaving, Leon said that you took some sort of power, your eyes glazed over as you muttered a spell and mixed it into some sort of tube before they were able to drag you away. Apparently after that; when you were a good two hours away; the wolves won the battle and killed Celine”

“I can’t believe this!” Anna said, getting up to pace with a hand over her forehead

“Believe me, I am more sorry than you can know. I….I...you are all I have left” I tried to explain

“Will I ever get my memories back?” Anna asked angrily

“You can. I just have to perform a cleansing spell and it will allow you to remember. But there’s something else” I said sadly

“Oh god! What else is there?” Anna asked worriedly

“Tasha’s mate….has been trying to find Celine and get his revenge for the murder of his family” I said slowly

“But...but she’s dead” Anna said with a frown

“She is” I confirmed “But he refuses to believe it because he wasn’t there at the time of her death”

“That poor guy...to happen like that” Anna shook her head “But why is this important?”

“Because” I said quietly “The alpha who’s mate and pup Celine killed is now here, not far from our home”

Anna gasped, looking around as if he would appear suddenly in front of her, her breathing erratic. I gripped her hands for comfort as I knew I was about to shock her

“WHERE?” Anna asked

“He was here earlier” I gently said

“He was?” Anna asked “Bu..but I...where was I whe…..NO!” Anna said, her mouth opening in shock

“Yes. The female and child that Celine murdered was Jason’s mate and pup” I said, my heart breaking at Anna’s devastation at the truth
