Knock! Knock! Knock!
"C'mon in" Susan responds casually whilst her attention still faced on her desk
"Always on-time, i can imagine how early you upt of your soft magnificent bed every morning. This is exactly what the EMPIRE needs". Ava commends Susan with beams of satisfaction as she walks in.
Hearing Ava's voice alone, brought relief for the day seeing that she's a whole lot of vibe. Seeing her always smile during works hours despite the pressure made me see life from a different perspective, that life isn't always as difficult as some people assume and exaggerate it to be.
"When will you" –susan smiles, shaking her head side ways– "ever stop this flattering?"
"Offcourse not... I'm just stating the obvious. No flattering at all on this one. I mean look at you, which man in his right senses will not notice such a hardworking and independent lady like you except he is blind offcourse."
"Hehehehe, that's not true... People's choice of their ideal partner matters too, not like they-" but was cut off by Ava.
Ava chuckles "Choice indeed."
"Yes–"
Leaning casually against the door, Laughing, Ava chimed in " You can keep saying that, but not for too long... Wait untill you're in your late 30s and watch how people's choices matters."
"Don't tell me you're wishing that for me." Susan responds sarcastically Raising one eyebrows unresignedly?
"Oooh... I thought you were all about people's choices earlier on," Ava teases her with beams of pleassure as she couldn't help but laugh out loud.
"See you later," she added whilst she exited Susan's office. "Besides I have alot of impossible looking task waiting to stress the hell out of me right on my desk."
Few hours later....
Feeling drained and farmished already, Susan walks to Ava's office being her launch partner as usual
Knock! Knock! Knock!
Two steps in, her eyes stared back and forth the massive room decorated with luxurious pieces of furniture "Mm-hmm, This is indeed a Boss lady's office." Susan sings Ava's praise wearing an innocent smile but the worms in her stomach definitely not smiling.
Noticing the fleeting looks of exhaustion written all over Susan's, Ava asked sarcastically as she leaned against a finger. " That should be hunger speaking and not you.. I guess right?"
" Huuuh, You're totally correct."She let's out a sign of relief and brazenly asks " You knew all this while I stood and you allowed me waste the last and surviving strength I have right?"
Ava's office phone ringing
Ring! Ring! Ring!
"That's for you I guess?"
" Yeah..offcourse but that will be later." Ava plays dumb about the call, seeing that it's calling from the paper company and she has obviously nothing to say as a supposed progress report.
Ring! Ring! Ring!
"I think you should get that, you can't ignore that forever you know right? But if there is something you will love to share with me, I'm all ears."
Ava finally opens up to Susan looking all agitated and equally stressed out, " Okay fine...it's concerning the paper company, they are actually calling concerning the supposed agreed partnership deal but right now, I don't see possiblities of that...considering the Bosses opinion on this. He insists that we lye low on the deal but still keep their interest focused."
"How possible can that be?" Ava asks retorically
"That's ridiculous i must say."
Having read and knowing much already about the company, Susan's see this as a start up opportunity to save the company from a massive bankruptcy.
Knowing fully well that it's actually time to do more of thinking than panicking, Susan suggests " while not you call back and update the company that the EMPIRE, is sorry for the delay in signing the contract, including the scheduled meetings but it's for a good cause. We're actually trying to come up with more funds to invest and be sure of what we are doing. Thanks for your patience and understanding."
"What do you think?" Susan asked sounding anxious "Or you could as well think of–" but was cut of by Ava
"Yes," she heard from the Boss lady starring at her like it was one sought of lame idea.
"Wait, what do you mean? She asked.
Still starring at Susan, she froze for a second as her eyes widened in shock. "Yes, that sounds more like a brilliant idea. You see what I was saying, who wouldn't fall for these sought of Beauty and brains."
There both hinted at their relief as Ava grabs ahold of Susan, tucking her close to her chest with a warm mutual hug as this beautiful moment kept Ava speechless.. Searching for words to crown the moment, Ava settles for "lndeed two good heads are better one."
" Or You meant to say, a problem shared is a problem half solved?" Susan comments with a smile.
Trying to suppress the jolt of joy within, Ava's emotions went from saved to comforted and assured that she's got a friend and more like a sister she never had.
"Best friends for life." Ava howled out with joy. "Right?"
"Pinky promise–"
"Sure, pinky promise." Susan echoed after Ava... raising their first thumb against the other as a symbol of a stamped promise.
Still overwhelmed, watching how fleeting moments turned into lots of minutes and minutes into hours, thinking of the perfect response, Ava shows gratitude "Thank you for showing up with this brilliant idea, else would've still be racking my brain from one end to another. I mean not for once did it cross my mind that it was going to be possible....not untill now.
"I guess this is the part were I remind us that I'm still farmished," Susan whispers exhaustenly as she kept rubbing her stomach. "Even more drained than I came in."
"Hehehehe, sure..as a matter of fact, worry no more for your bills are taken care of by the Boss lady herself." Ava blows her own trumpet sounding like Susan's messaih for the moment as they both step out of the office.
