The shock call

Starring at my cell phone dumbfoundedly, I froze for a second as my beautiful anticipated uninterrupted sleep was taken away from me. Normally would have still laid back on the bed for atleast untill the day gets a little more bright and I guess I would have rested enough ..seeing how I love and cherish my sleep but not when it concerns my only sister, ketty.

Still trying to convince myself beyond any doubts that Ketty might be doing just perfectly fine, I retired back to the warmth of the covers but still felt unease. Having someone else answer ketty's call wasn't a problem at all...after all, she might be seeing someone but not just ready to come out with it... but the way at which he spoke furiously then hung up on me without any proper conversation made me have an awful feeling that has started creeping up inside of me that something wasn't right about this.

Mm-hmm, probably could be network interference I thought while I dailed ketty's number one more time.

Switched off! Switched off!. The ringback tone response.

"Huh" I exhaled as my emotions went indifferent about what next to do, seeing that thesame number just hung up on me not quite long. Indeed this could be just network fluctuation... I will stop bye at her apartment as soon as the day gets busy, I resolved in my heart while I carressed the pillows still deep in thoughts, I fall fast asleep.

....

"Ring! Ring! Ring!"

Waking up to the phone ringing incessantly all the way from my dream world got me so pissed off. Not wanting to really know who it was whilst Still wearing a hazy vision, I muttered in rage as I get a hold of the phone from the other end of the bed.

"Huuuh, what part of I'm working from home today is difficult to understand, Ava?..I said all meetings for today should be rescheduled for tomorrow or they should as well forget about the partnership, I hope I've made my self clear on this one?"

"We're cleared on that right?...Miss Ava are you still there? Xander repeated expecting response but unfortunately was disappointed at the sudden silence.

Pausing for a second, he takes a glance at the phone and stares in shocked surprise to see that it's actually a private number and not even Ava.

"Ooh my gosh." Xander clears his throat, searching for words to make the situation better, he settles for "I'm so sorry you had to pay attention to all of that."

He lets out a sign of relief and brazenly asks "how can I be of help to you?" And Immediately the caller hungs up, leaving Xander in a state of wide thoughts. Who could this be? Xander soliloquized. Just then..

Ring! Ring! Ring!

On seeing same call, Xander Immediately picks up the call without hesitation and without saying a word in anticipation to hear the strange caller.

Finally saying something, With all aura of dominance and furiousness in his voice, the stranger asked "Am I speaking with Mr Mark Xander?"

"Yes" –Xander replies in hesitation– "you are."

"Fine then..you sound co-operative and smart enough. Your sister ketty is in our custody as we speak but her life depends on how smart and obedient you are. You deliver 50 million dollars in cash to the location I will send to you and we deliver your sister in one piece. The most interesting part of this amazing deal is that, you've got 48 hours only to get this done and your time starts now. And lastly the moment you play funny or try to outsmart me by involving the COPS, you will meet your sister in pieces. Ketty's life lies in your hand. Am I clear?. TikTak! TikTak!."

Xander's emotions went from devastation.. to scared out of his mind as soon as the stranger hanged up. His eyes widened in shock as he hastened down from the bed, he prattled on and on about, as questions no one could answer, travel across his mind. Who could be behind this?, who have I wronged?,why my only family,ketty?. I can't loose Ketty..never again.

Immediately dailed Mr Dum.

"Get the car ready, we'll be moving out in some minutes time."

"Take me to ketty's apartment right away" Xander instructed as he hoped in swiftly. He put a call across to Ava to meet up at ketty's apartment to be sure of the situation at hand and not just fall for some miscrant anthics.

'Mm–hmm, I pray and hope that this meeting yields a way forward to seal this contract seeing how relentless the paper company have being active to see that this works which will bring more profit and gainful returns to the EMPIRE.' Ava thought out loud as she hastens to meet up with Mr Xander as instructed.

Mr Dum finally comes to a stop after a ten minutes' drive. "We are here sir," he opines.

Xander hurriedly steps out of the rear door space even before Mr Dum could find his way to the door. His heart still pounding as he closes in on a distance to the door. On reaching the apartment, he opens the door and observes the absurd Serenity.

"Ketty! Ketty! Any body home?" He howled loudly as his voice echoed after him in vain with already well watered eyes, full and ready to rush down his chicks as he strode through each and every room. Then it dawn on him that it wasn't a prank after all.

"Good day sir, you sent for me" Ava chimed in with a smile at the entrance step

"Yes." He backed Ava with his broad shoulders, whipping every tear that could lead to further questions. "I did."

Turning to her direction, looking all smart, he continued. "Concerning the contract with the paper company, let's keep that contract on a low consideration for now. I actually have alot on my table right now but try to keep their interest still focused on us while i fix up some necessary things."

"Okay sir" Ava smiles and nods. "I was actually hoping to see Miss Ketty since she hasn't being to the office for quite sometime now."

Inorder to avoid any kind of suspicion about ketty's sudden disappearance, he immediately chimed in "Yeah...you're right, I guess she just took a walk as usual. See you during work hours as that will be all for now.
